Oct. 26, 1923 – Market Winkler Mintz, a film distributor from New York signed a contract with Walt Disney to distribute the Alice Comedies.
Oct. 26, 1935 – Disney’s Silly Symphony cartoon “Three Orphan Kittens” was released.
Oct. 26, 1945 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Cured Duck” was released.
Oct. 26, 1949 – A letter from Disney marketing genius Kay Kamen (mailed from Paris and postmarked Oct. 26) was received by Ruth Ivener, vice-president of business details and jokes about Kamen’s fear of flying. Tragically, at age 56, Kay Kamen and his beloved wife Katie, would die 2 days later in an Air-France crash over the Azores (a group of islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.)
Oct. 26, 1955 – The Disneyland TV series aired “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”
Oct. 26, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Anything Can Happen Day” on ABC-TV.
Oct. 26, 1969 – The Disney TV show aired “The Feather Farm.”
Oct. 26, 1971 – The “Electrical Water Pageant” made its debut on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake at WDW.
Oct. 26, 1986 – The “Gurgi’s Munchies and Crunchies” fast-food facility opened in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at WDW. (Closed Feb. 13, 1993)
Oct. 26, 1986 – Donald Duck was shown for the 1st time in the Peoples Republic of China. Chinese TV launched a weekly half-hour of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse cartoons.
