Nov. 23, 1804 – Franklin Pierce, the 14th U.S. President, was born in a log cabin near Hillsborough, N.H. He could be visited along with all the U.S. Chief Executives at the “Hall of Presidents” attraction in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Nov. 23, 1892 – Elias Disney (Walt’s father) obtained a building permit to build a two story, 18 x 28 foot wood cottage on a plot of land he purchased on Tripp Avenue in Chicago, Il. Last month. Elias would be able to kep the cost low on the cottage (about $800) by acting as his own contractor, and doing much of the construction himself.
Nov. 23, 1941 – Actor Franco Nero, who portrays Leonardo da Vinci in “The Timekeeper” a WDW attraction film “From Time to Time,” was born in Parma, Italy.
Nov. 23, 1942 – Disney’s Documentary Featurette “South of the Border with Disney” was delivered to the Coordinator on Inter-American Affairs.
Nov. 23, 1951 – Disney’s Goofy short “No Smoking” was released.
Nov. 23, 1952 – Fred Moore, master Disney animator of Mickey Mouse in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” died in a car accident in Tujunga Canyon, Ca.
Nov. 23, 1954 – The animated short “Grand Canyonscope,” featuring Donald Duck, Ranger Audubon J. Woodlove, and Louie the Mountain Lion, was released. It is Disney’s last short of 1954.
Nov. 23, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Anything Can Happen Day” on ABC-TV.
Nov. 23, 1969 – Disney’s part-1 of its 2-part TV movie “The Secrets of the Pirate’s Inn” aired. (Part-2 aired Nov. 30, 1969)
Nov. 23, 1971 – Comedic actress Lisa Arch was born in Los Angeles, Ca. She portrayed the character Samantha Samuels on Disney Channel’s “Cory in the House.” (Fans of MADtv would recognize her as a repertory performer, for the third season.)
