According to Map Quest, from my house to the Pop Century Resort it is 1230 miles or 2460 miles roundtrip. Yesterday morning I saw gas for $1.49. At 25 mpg, for 2460 miles, that's 98.4 gallons required. If I could find that same gas price for the entire trip (I know, not possible) that would result in a total fuel expense of $146.62. Now, divide that by 4 people, and the fuel cost is $36.66.

Drive time each way is listed as 19 hours, 11 minutes. Divided by 4 drivers, is 4.8 hours each.

So, spend $18.33 (for the drive down), drive for 4.8 hours, and rest (in the car) for 14.4 hours (a couple of movies, and some sleep), and I'm walking into WDW. Of course we'd have to repeat the $18.33, and drive time to come home.

That's enough to make you say "Hmmmmm". Especially knowing that I have left over park hoppers waiting to be used.

Then I think you should be booking yourself a trip AND take advantage of the Magical Journies offer that was posted here and get free dining! Now that is a trip well worth it. 200.00 gift card I think was the offer....Thats 200.00 inspending money, with possibly the free dinning offer, and you already have park tickets....hmmmwhat are u waiting for to start planning!?!?! lol!!!

Great minds think alike! I have been thinking about taking a quick weekend trip with my boys. We all have park hoppers and we would only be driving from Knoxville, TN about 10 hours. Gas is only down to $1.85 here, but that is much cheaper than the $4 it was a couple of months ago. Staying at a value resort is always economic too....and I have disney rewards for food....hmmmmm

I say go for it! If I can swing it, I will.

For a cost that cheap I think you should go for it! I wish our gas would get down that low.

Then you HAVE to go! ;)

I paid $1.62 and filled our my Honda Pilot yesterday for $26.48 - Marathon station in GA! Sorry, I know that isn't the topic here, but I just had to shout that out. A month ago I was paying almost $70 a tank.

Here we go again...

I was just thinking the same thing! I filled up my Pilot for $40. (can't find gas that cheap yet) and I was sooooo happy! :D

Understand that when you factor in your luggage and 4 bodies you won't be getting quite the same gas mileage, but yes, it can be worth it. We drove down last dec. from PA and saved a bundle as opposed to what air fare was running at the time. Take away that bogus speeding ticket in VA and we would've positively made out like bandits!
