Nov. 16, 1922 – Actor Royal Dano, the voice of Abraham Lincoln in Disney’s “Hall of Presidents” attraction, was born in New York City.
Nov. 16, 1931 – Luciana Bottaro, best known as one of the classic Italian artists of Disney comics, was born in Rapallo, Italy.
Nov. 16, 1934 – A “Snow White” meeting was held at the Disney Studios which resulted in another outline entitled “Dwarfs Discover Snow White.” The character of Dopey was introduced (who would ultimately prove to be the most successful and popular of the dwarf characterizations).
Nov. 16, 1955 – The Disneyland TV series aired episode 4 of “Davy Crockett: Keelboat Race.”
Nov. 16, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Anything Can Happen Day” on ABC-TV.
Nov. 16, 1965 – Walt Disney visited the WDW site in Florida the day after the news conference in Orlando. Accompanying Walt was Joe Potter, the former New York World’s Fair executive and engineering/logistical planning genius who has been hired to supervise the construction.
Nov. 16, 1969 – The Disney TV show aired “Varda, the Peregrine Falcon.”
Nov. 16, 1976 – The Dapper Dans of WDW (Bub Thomas, Neel Tyree, Tom Howe, Buddy Seeberg, and Dick Kneeland) performed on the Diamond Horseshoe Stage. The show was put together by the group to show WDW management the various routines and talents they can offer not normally performed on Main Street.
Nov. 16, 1986 – The Wonderful World of Disney TV series aired the episode “The Leftovers” starring John Denver and Cindy Williams.
Nov. 16, 1990 – Disney’s feature film “The Rescuers Down Under” premiered along with the 25-minute animated feature “The Prince and the Pauper.”
