Nov. 12, 1908 – Disney animator Shamus Culhane, whose most notable work for Disney would include the classic sequence with Pluto and the Crab in “Hawaiian Holiday” and the dwarfs “Heigh Ho” number in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” was born in Ware, Massachusetts.
Nov. 12, 1916 – Actor Liam Dunn was born in N.J. His Disney credits include “The Shaggy D.A.,” “Gus,” “Herbie Rides Again,” and “The World’s Greatest Athlete.”
Nov. 12, 1932 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “The Wayward Canary” was released.
Nov. 12, 1932 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “The Klondike Kid” was released.
Nov. 12, 1939 – Actor Bela Lugosi spent the day at the Disney Studios posing for animators. He would be the model for the demon Chernabog in the “Night on Bald Mountain” segment of “Fantasia.”
Nov. 12, 1942 – Disney’s animated feature “Pinocchio” was released in Egypt.
Nov. 12, 1943 – Actor Wallace Shawn, whose Disney credits include “The Haunted Mansion,” “Monsters, Inc.” and both “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2” was born in N.Y.C.
Nov. 12, 1946 – Walt Disney’s “Song of the South” was released and had its debut in Atlanta, Ga. The film, based on the books by Joel Chandler Harris, was Walt’s first major plunge into live-action film making.
Nov. 12, 1954 – Disney’s Donald Duck animated short “The Flying Squirrel” was released.
Nov. 12, 1957 – Disney stock was listed on the New York Stock Exchange for the 1st time.
