Talk about tenacious. . . last Spring we began planning for our 50th wedding anniversary November 7, 2009. Wanted to really do it up round - entire family for a week at WDW - club level at the YC - extras galore. Wanted to be sure we got Lagoon View rooms so called Melissa at MJ and had her make the reservations at the 500 day mark. Unfortunately, Disney will only make rack rate ressies that far out but, we booked. When 2009 rates came out got a sad email from Melissa - Disney was not making AAA discounts available for 2009. Oh well, keep fingers crossed and hope for the best. Long story short, yesterday received another email from Melissa - she had stayed with it - checking often - and had been able to finally get a AAA discount for all three rooms for the 7-day stay.

Is it worth it to have MJ handle your reservations? Well it just saved us $2,858.52 (ding-ding-ding). Way to go, Melissa!!! Now, let's see if they extend room only discounts further as we get further into 2009.

 What a plus for you- Congrats on 50th
Since you have been there so many times, I guess you like the Yacht Club ! We are going for our first trip this December can't wait ! Can you give me a little info on your favorite reasons for staying there ? Is it OK with younger kids they won't feel out of place ? I would love to hear your opinions on the place. Thanks.

Again... Happy 50th

Well, the main reason we like YC so much is like real estate - location, location, location!

We're big fans of EPCOT, spend a lot of time there and YC makes it very convenient. Plus, it has a New England resort atmosphere about it that is somewhat quiet and relaxing.

The BC is a little livelier for young children with a Jersey Shore/Cape Cod feel about it. Otherwise they both have all of the following advantages. Children will like Storm Along Bay (best pool on property) and Beaches and Cream and the arcades. Across the lagoon is BWI, with all of its boardwalk attractions and entertainment. It's a mini-park in itself and stays open late. Quick access to Disney Studios is by a reasonable walk or via friendships.

Dining is outstanding with ALL of the nearby EPCOT and Disney Studios restaurants. Plus, closely situated resort restaurants including; Yachtsman Steakhouse, Captain's Grille, Cape May Buffet, Flying Fish, Big River Grille & Brewing Works, Spoodles, ESPN Club, Il Mulino, Kimono's, Blue Zoo and Shula's Steakhouse.

Bus service is frequent and quick to MK, AK and what's left of DTD. We just enjoy the total experience there. Others may prefer different locations for other and good reasons. It's a matter of personal preference. Hope you have an outstanding trip Jersey!

P.S. Just noticed your upcoming trip dates. We'll be at the YC the same time as you - 12/8 to 12/12/08, hope we'll run into each other. Just look for the tall, older gent in the tan plantation straw hat with the LGM on the hatband.

Congratulations on 50 years.
If we were staying there Beaches and Cream would be a daily must for us.
We also are spending our 50th at Disney next month.
Were staying at the Grand Floridian for the first time.
