i am curious to know if the singers at such shows as beauty and the beast are really singing or not.

Yes, they're really singing because they are talented unlike most of today's pop stars.

Not all of them are singing. Only the main cast such as Belle, Beast, Gaston, Lafou. The rest are pre-recorded. However, that doesn't mean they aren't singers - everyone in the shows must be equity.

I always think it's funny that in the Voyage of the Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Studios, Ariel is actually singing with her real voice, but the actor playing Eric has to lip synch his 5 or 6 spoken words.

Because Ariel is equity, Eric is not (that I know of).

What does that mean? Just curious...

It means Ariel is under a type of union contract to sing, Eric is one of our friends, (again, if I am not mistaken).

It's also the same for the dancers in Nemo, any of the Castle shows (dancers only here), FOTLK (singers, monkeys, fire dancers, aerial artists), and Storytime with Belle (Belle only).

You are correct about Eric.

Also, all the performers in Nemo are Equity (not just dancers).
