Oct. 17, 1916 – Virgil Franklin Partch, one of the most prominent and prolific American magazine gag cartoonists of the 1940’s and 1950’s, was born in Alaska. Partch would study under Rico LeBran at Choiuinard Art Institute, before joining the Disney Studios as a story man for 4 years.
Oct. 17, 1921 – Veteran comic actor Tom Paston – Lord Palimore in Disney’s 2004 “Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” was born in Columbus, Oh. (TV fans will recognize him from the countless appearances on shows such as 8 Simple Rules… for Dating My Teenage Daughter, That 70’s Show, Home Improvement, and Newhart,)
Oct. 17, 1925 – Jack Wagner, the voice of Disneyland and WDW was born.
Oct. 17, 1927 – Disney’s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons “Great Guns” and The Great Locomotive Chase” were released.
Oct. 17, 1937 – Donald’s identical triplet nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, debuted in Disney’s Silly Symphony comic strip.
Oct. 17, 1947 – Disney’s feature film “Fun and Fancy Fre” was released in Brazil.
Oct. 17, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired “Today is Fun Day With Music Day” on ABC-TV.
Oct. 17, 1956 – The Disneyland TV series aired “Goofy’s Cavalcade of Sports.”
Oct. 17, 1957 – The 2nd Zorro episode “Zorro’s Secret Passage” aired on ABC-TV.
Oct. 17, 1958 – The Walt Disney Presents TV show aired episode 2 of “Elfego Baca: Four Down and Five Lives to Go.”
