My family and I always try to go to the most character dining rest. we can. We've been to the Crystal Palace & Liberty Tree Tavern @ MK, Donald's Rest. @ AK, Playhouse Disney's @ HS, and sadly the Garden Grill @ Epcot, which is now closed. Also @ the resorts, we try to reserve @ Chef Mickey's, and we will try Cape May Cafe @ BC for the 1st time this trip.

Well, we've only been one time so far, but one thing that we did on our first trip that we're going to continue on our next trip is eating at a Character Breakfast on our last day.. it's bittersweet! :mickey:

Our little "tradition" involves Illuminations. We always go to Tangerine Cafe shortly beforehand, usually order one meal to share, then sit in the covered area to the right and watch Illuminations. It's not the best spot for viewing, but we've seen Illuminations so many times that sitting is more important to us than staking out the best spot for an hour.

The past 3 trips have started out with going to DHS on arrival day, and capping the first night with Fantasmic!. Now we'll be lucky if it's even playing on arrival day...:(

This is our number one rule! Grub on some mini corn dogs from Caseys and a Dole Whip Float while watching SpectroMagic on our first night! Its the best thing ever!

Our first ride in MK is always PhilarMagic. It gets the magic going for us!

Get Maragritas from Mexico and walk around the world, have them done by time we get to the America Pavillion where we split a funnel cake. Finish our world tour with Fish and Chips and find a spot for Illuminations. Sometimes DH waits till we get to Germany and gets a Braut and Beer. Depends on his mood and how hot the day is/has been.

Liberty Tree Tavern. But since they did away with the Character meal, we are going to switch it to something else.

Fantasmic is not the same without a bucket (or 2) of popcorn!

There are several others we always do too, certain rides, certain shows. But those listed are our most important. We didn't do two of those this year (philarmagic 1st and our world tour) and something felt off!

1. My kids and I always make sure to get one cab ride on the monorail. It gives you such a different perspective.

2. We always have a meal at the Liberty Tree Tavern.

3. We always WAY overspend our souvenir budget!!!

4. Speaking of sovenirs, I always buy a pink flamingo (either in Mexico or at Panchito's in the CSR)

5. After the trip, I always write a narrative about it and put it in a "memory box" with all sorts of little items, like postcards, ticket stubs, pictures, and the like.

This is a GREAT thread; really got my mind whirling about our next trip, November 8 - 15.

-Dinner at Liberty Tree.......bring back the characters!
-Ride the Haunted Mansion and POC at night.
-Monorail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Buy Hummus at the Pop Century Resort (even when we don't stay there).
-Eat at Pinochio's and sit near the window over looking It's A Small World.
-Last night at MK, stroll down Main Street, for last minute pin trading and we buy mouse ears and fudge.

another awesome thread. i love reading about what everyone does!

we ALWAYS go ride the TTA first thing when we get to the magic kingdom. usually within the first hour after plopping our luggage down in our room.

we have breakfast every morning at the KONA cafe (mmm ham and cheese omlet) even though we have never been able to afford to stay at the poly. we love the poly!

and we always make time every trip to window shop at the poly stores and walk the grounds. ( i can not wait to be able to afford to stay there some day!!!)

EARL OF SANDWICH! (or as i like to call it, earl of sammich)

standing on the tomorrowland bridge to watch wishes. (right under tinkerbell)

sharing a caseys hotdog by the water where the yellow and white stripe umbrellas are, (to the right off of main street right before you get to the hub) yes its a smoking section but i love sitting there and lookin at the ducks

our newest tradition seems to be : going to disney world every year splash mountain just happens to be closed for refurbishment =(

Oh my gosh, I feel like most of our trip is "our must do every trip" stuff! We always go to DTD on arrival day & we have to take a pic of DS's in front of the Lego Loch Ness Monster, boy we can see how DS's have grown over the years by that one pic!
First & last park days are MK & Buzz is always our very first ride! There are soooo many more thing that we do each trip that I couldn't possibly list here, but I've tried to alter these rituals & my family won't stand for it!

One silly thing we do, is taking DS's & DH's pix wearing different hats all thought out WDW! Those are just hilarious to look back at over the years! :funny:

If your at the Magic Kingdom, you can take the bus or monorail (I vote monorail!) to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there...you can grab the monorail to EPCOT, which will first swing through Future World before dropping you off.

Everytime I have to go to the Contemporary, even though I've never stayed there. Have to watch the monorail go in and out, viewing it from the inside and the outside. As a kid in the '70s, I was always fascinated by this, even though I only saw pictures.

While in the Contemporary I have to take in the beauty of the tile mosaic done by Mary Blair and always get a touch. To me that gives me a sense of the past.

Ride the HM at least twice when I'm with my wife. When I go alone during the marathon weekend, I always ride it at least four times.

And always ride the COP at least once.

Every time we were near the funnel cakes, we had just eaten or were not hungry or didn't have time. So one morning at rope drop, we went straight for a funnel cake for Breakfast. It is a tradition for our family to go to Epcot as soon as we get there after checking into our resort. It has always been the first park we go to when we go...and we still do this every year.

Also, the Poly is my favorite resort in WDW...it is my dream to one day stay there, but I just love the atmosphere and the location..it is so magical for me. So I have my own little tradition every trip.. I book a breakfast at either Kona or O'Hanas so that I can visit my favorite resort everytime I'm in wdw. Then we take the monorail over to MK after I've done my tour of the resort.

I have a few existing traditions that I've done since I was a kid:

-Hot dogs at Casey's

-it's a small world, no matter how long the wait is

-for some reason, we shout "possums" on BTMRR every time we ride underneath them  not sure how or why that one started, but it's required now

-take several "people watching" breaks through out the day. (Dad has a heart condition, but doesn't want to "slow us down" so he won't always say he needs a rest when he really should. So, I watch the daddy, and occasionally proclaim that we're in a great spot for "people watching" and that I want to stop and do that for a while.

A few new ones:
- do at least 2 random acts of Disney magic for complete strangers

-Start and end the trip with MVMCPs.

-get a big mug of hot cocoa while watching the Osborne lights

-Try something new

:cloud9: Just 45 more days!

There was a stand selling it last year, I think near the area where they usher you into the streets of America. They had regular disposable cups, or large ones with blinking LED lights. They also had cookies and possibly hot cider, but I don't remember for sure.

Now, I do belive this was a small tent type set up, not a permanant structure. I also seem to recall that they were saying they were almost out at the time we got ours, so you probably don't want to wait until too late into the night.

We always start the trip with the MK and IASW and used to always end it this way but now always end it in the MK with BTMRR and POTC. I always have to get a Dole Whip Float (ok, a few!) at night and just people-watch as I eat it. We always eat at San Angel Inn. Our two newest traditions are to eat breakfast at Chef Mickey's and to try at least one new TS restaurant each trip. I also have to have our pictures taken at every photographer we come across and my sister still has to get character autographs. And of course I have to go way over budget on souveniers!

We always see SpectroMagic. If it's only being performed once a week (like Saturday night) we plan our events around being at MK that night to see it. It's my Dad's favorite thing.

We always eat at Kona Cafe once during our visit.

When we are at Epcot we always go see Impressions de France at least twice. I always buy a souvenir in the gift shop and my dad always stocks up a new men's cologne in France also.
