:faint:
My son bought a car tonight! He got his license in July and I've been putting aside money for him since he was a baby to put towards a car when he was older.
It wasn't much - but he found a nice little Ford Escort with only 46000 miles on it (it's a 2003) but this is my baby we're talking about He's driving! He's got his own car! I don't think I'm ready for this.........

I am right there with you. My daughter can start driving classes at the end of the month. She is only 14 1/2. I am not sure I am ready to start this process knowing that it will end up with her owning a car in the not so distant future.:)

I understand completely....I have three daughters with cars and my son is going for his learners permit next week and could have his license by next April...hence another car...

Thankfully we have a very big driveway!!

Congratulations to your son on his new car!!

I feel your pain. DS#3 just got his license; although not driving to school yet. He needs to bring his grades up before he's allowed that privilege. So far, he's doing great half way done with the 1st qtr. DS#1 has a car at college. DS#2 doesn't have a car in college. Probably next year.

Wow, Jeanne! Can't believe that he has his own wheels now! :faint:

The car's the easy part, what about the insurance?

Good luck, Jeanne.

My nephew just got a car too about a couple months ago. He has his step-mother's mini van. Do you know how terrible that is for a 16 year old? Yeah right. I was lucky to get my first wheels at 21 I think.

I'm right there with you! My DGS got his license last year and has an old Durango but he has already torn it up with just about blowing the engine when the oil went dry. We had to help him get it fixed. He works almost every afternoon to pay for the insurance and his gas. (Car is paid for). But I keep thinking about him being at college with it and it scares me to death! :) He hasn't driven much except around town. I guess they will survive like we did but it sure is hard to get used to!

Congratulations to your DS!

Don't worry, he will be ok...if you taught him to drive, he's got nothing to worry about...the pedestrians might...:D
Just think, you can have your own personal driver now.:car:

Jeanne, so you made it through the first weekend. How did it go?

Hopefully you'll have smooth sailing!

Thank you for the compliment, Wes. It was actually a joint effort between 3 people, me, my ex, and a family friend. All 3 of us drive professionally so hopefully something good rubbed off :)
