Sept. 30, 1913 – Writer-producer Bill Walsh, known for his work on the Disney classic films such as “Mary Poppins,” The Love Bug,” and “Flubber,” was born in N.Y.C.
Sept. 30, 1928 – A second recording session for “Steamboat Willie” took place in N.Y. with conductor Carl Edouarde and a 15-piece band.
Sept. 30, 1933 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “The Steeple Chase” was released.
Sept. 30, 1939 – Actor Len Carious, who played Walt Disney in the 1995 TV movie “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes: The Annette Funicello Story,” was born in Canada.
Sept. 30, 1946 – Disney’s Educational film “Treasure from the Sea” was released for the Dow Chemical Co.
Sept. 30, 1961 – Legendary trumpet player-vocalist Louis Armstrong performed at Disneyland.
Sept. 30, 1962 – Disney’s part-1 of its 2-part TV movie “Escapade in Florence” aired on Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color on NBC-TV. (Part-2 aired Oct. 7, 1962)
Sept. 30, 1963 – The “Babes in Toyland Exhibit” closed on Main Street in Disneyland.
Sept. 30, 1970 – Disney’s special cartoon featurette “Dad, Can I Borrow the Car?” was released.
Sept. 30, 1971 – WDW’S Preview Center, located on Buena Vista Blvd. closed. It featured displays of models and drawings of Disney’s new theme park. (The boulevard would later be renamed Hotel Plaza and the Preview Center would become the headquarters for the Amateur Athletic Union.)
