HI Folks,
My oldest daughter is considering transferring from college here in MA to Wilmington University in Delaware.
In regards to financial aid, do I need to do anything with her student loan, or is it just a matter of letting the University know where her student loan comes from and having it transferred there?
thanks!

Is she going to a state school here?
I ask because I had to go through a few extra hoops when I transferred because of that, but it wasn't very difficult to deal with the loan stuff. I had to fill out a deferrment letter since my first loan was through the Commonwealth, so I would have had to start paying after I transferred without the proper forms. Fun.
But the process was simple - I wrote a letter to my new school to let them know where all my aid was coming from. Then I contacted the lender to tell them I was moving schools. Your daughter may have to reapply for the loans, but trust me - the Fin Aid people are used to this. It wasn't very difficult at all.

HI Laura,
Thank you for the information.
My daughter is currently going to Worcester State College. I am going to have her check with the financial aid office there about what needs to be done. She has already been accepted to Wilmington University so at this point it is just getting the paperwork done.

When my son transferred from U. of Kentucky to Syracuse for his second year, DH just let the bank know. I don't remember it being a problem.
