Ok, some of you may get a kick out of this I even laugh at myself about it, but I was wondering if they do anything extra during the Halloween Party at the Haunted Mansion. What I mean is do they put anything or anyone in there to jump out at you and scare you?

I don't like being scared the first time I rode the Haunted Mansion I had to ride with my eyes half shut unitl I saw there really wasn't anything to be afraid of. This was on my honeymoon

Plus I am a 2nd degree black belt and when I get scared I tend to react on instinct and I would hate to be escorted out of the park because I punched someone. :D

I've never been to the party, so I can't tell you from first hand experience, BUT I believe I read somewhere that they have a cast member dressed as one of the dearly departed along the queue area telling stories of their demise AND I also read that they pump in a little smoke around the tombstones outside. I can't remember them mentioning any other "enhancements" to the ride itself, but I could be wrong.

There isn't anything special in the ride but as the previous poster said there is a lady along the queue area that tells stories and talks to you. It was very cool.

No only in California do they revamp the whole ride for Halloween.
Florida doesn't although it would be really cool if they did!!!!

If I remember correctly the "name" of the woman wandering HM was Georgia Louise Bellum - or Auntie Bellum for short! :D I have a photo of her from several years back. Great stories and a lot of fun.

Really? Last year her name was Madame Carlotta.

The outside looks spookier with lights and fog, but it would be kind of hard to attack the Mansion ;)
Nothing new "pops up" or anything. My friend was the same way...but now she loves the Haunted Mansion. If only I could get her within 200 feet of a character ;)

We went on 9/13 and the only thing besides the lady in the front is that the CMs are wearing makeup. They have really cool face paint like dead people so that was cool...Also, they light up the HM with purple and green lights and have mist around the outside. When we were there they even had a photopass guy right as you get off to take pic's in front of the mansion...pretty cool!!!

the added fog is nice though, wish it was a permanent fixture

as a normal, everyday thing, the phantom manor is much more developed than the haunted mansion. There is a longer queue and it is much more enhanced compared to Fl's. They then tell the story of the widow and her groom, and it is a big ordeal. You can see it on youtube. I was told by 2 Epcot CMs that most of the rides are this way in the foreign disney's. That they put much more effort into their buildings, each ceiling is decorated beautifully, the rides all have more of a story or reason for it, and the queue plays a part in the ride. They are starting to do this more in FL, as you have seen with Midway Mania that if you go through the FP line, you miss the Mr. Potato Head that is all knowing, like Crush in TT.
