If you were going to WDW (like I am in 5 days, yay) but were forced to go without ONE particular ride or attraction for whatever reason......which one would it be that would cause your vacation to be good....but not great?

For me it's a toss-up between Space Mountain/Rock n Roller Coaster/Tower of Terror. I couldn't imagine a trip there with NO rides on any one of them.

For me it would be Spaceship Earth (which happened the last time we went). It was kind of sad walking past it and not being able to ride it. Thank goodness it's up and running again.

Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth. We missed Spaceship Earth last year too, and we were really bummed out. When we go next May, you can bet that will be the first thing we ride at Epcot.

:ditto: for us! While some of our annual trips have fallen when they've refurbed HM or PotC, it would really be lacking if we had to miss any of these three.

That being said, I've prepped DH and DS the last two years that Space Mtn at some point will be taken down for the rumored massive refurb . ..

the Haunted Mansion!
On our first trip as a family in 2002 my 12 year old DS (had been on a trip to Disney with his dad when he was 8) and I (prior to this went to MK for one day with my parents when I was 13) ran to the Haunted Mansion to find that it was closed for refurbishment. We were standing at the closed gates very sad. We were devastated that it was closed, because both of us had fond memories from our previous trips. We were so excited to ride together.

We did get our chance in 2004 and been riding it ever since.

Splash! Pirates/HM would also be a bit of a bummer.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea...

since that happens every time I go, it would have to be PotC, SplMtn, BTMRR, SpMtn, ToT, RnRR. I can miss one of them, but more than that would be upsetting.

There are three for me - TWO of which (Haunted Mansion and Spaceship Earth) were down last time I went!!!! The third would be the TTA - and I couldn't for the life of me say why, but it just is.

Having to visit WDW without seeing it at least once just wouldn't be the same. It represents all the Disney magic to me.

HM and POTC! Missed POTC when it was down for refurb, complete and absolute bummer. The trip did not feel complete. Last year we moved our trip so we would not miss HM. That's how important they are to us.

I could not go to wdw without riding Splash, POTC, HM, ToT, SSE or Space Mt... these rides are classic to me and I really feel like "Wow! Im in WDW!" when I'm on them.

Last year was bad enough when I couldn't go on SSE... Just walking by it, not being able to go on it was very sad. I cannot wait to finally go on it again in 53 days!!! :D

I would have to say walking down main st and seeing the castle. Something about that just brings tears to my eyes.

It's corny, but the TTA (Wedway People Mover) is one thing I don't think my trip to WDW would be complete without.

I'm going to have a hard time in 2009 when they shut it down for the SM refurb. :(

I would have to say the Magic Kingdom. That is my favorite park:thumbsup: and if we can't go to that park the most,I'm just not a happy camper.:nono:

Mine would be MK, but I guess you are wanting a ride. So it would be a tie between POTC, HM, TOT. Those are all can't miss for our family.:mickey: Also can't miss eating a funnel cake and a churro.

Hmm this is a tough one. I couldn't narrow it down to just one, but here's a few:

staying on property
Mickey head rice krispie treats
DDP
Rock n Rollercoaster
Tower of Terror
Expedition Everest
a character breakfast on our last day
pictures with the characters
seeing the castle at MK

Siiigh, I wish I was there right now (and not at school)!

i have been a couple times while Splash has been down, once while HM was down, once while spaceship earth was down, once while RNRC was down. I thought these were going to be major disapointments, but i still enjoyed myself and had a wonderful time. I don't think any one (or even 2) of my favorite being down would cause me to have a horrible trip. Disney has so much to offer. POTC and Space Mt. would be hard to swallow if they went down, but I would still make the most of the trip and have a great time.

gresh00
09-16-2008, 05:04 PM
our last trip in Feb, these rides we rode twice:

spaceship earth
haunted mansion
carousel of progress
pirates of the Caribbean

My favorite ride is Pirates and I would almost not go if I knew it was going to be down, but all these others are high on my list. Incidentally, Splash Mountain was down during our trip - that was disappointing as it would normally be an essential.

Tie between PotC and HM. If either one of them were closed, it would still be a 'good' time at Disney World, but not the 'GREAT' time I look forward to.

HM for us. I have to say though I've been extremely lucky with refurbs, the only two rides that have been down when I've visited are IASW (twice) and El Rio Tiempo (once). I realise now I've said that I've just completely jinxed myself for my next trip!

For me it would be the walk up main street and seeing the castle. :cloud9:

In 2004 I drove to Ca from NY with my 2 yo daughter, a 14 yo, and an 18 yo neices; four girls on the road. (if you don't count the baby BOY growing in my belly) And yes, I was crazy to do this. :shake: However, my neices had been to DW several times but never to DL. They were dying to see Sleeping Beauty's Castle, this was one of their main reasons for wanting to go. Well, all you die-hard fans can probably guess what happened back in 2004...It was covered, getting ready for the Happienst Celebration on Earth in 2005. They were crushed. :sob: Now, ever since, when I get to DW I really appreciate the site of the castle at the end of Main Street. I can't imagine the trip without it.

Spaceship Earth. Our visits to Epcot on our last trip weren't the same without riding it as it was still closed for refurb. We are really looking forward to riding it in February!

I have to go with the TTA. It is an absolute must for us at night!!!

Same for us, TTA is the very first attraction we ride on our first day. It just slowly lets us take in the whole reality that we are finally back at WDW. :mickey:

09-17-2008, 03:41 PM
I'd have to say Splash Mountain personally. That is one of our absolute favourite rides in the whole of WDW.

If the question were reffering to non-ride exeriences. I'd say pressing pennies. I love collection these and I was very sad on my recent trip when the machine outside Space Ranger Spin was out of order although they fixed it very promptly! :number1:)

TTA does rock, and I'd be very sad if that weren't working too.

The Haunted Mansion! I got separated from my party during the Halloween party on 9/12, spent 2 hours looking for them, only to have to meet up at the hotel later because we couldn't find eachother. I was so distraught I didn't even get to the Haunted Mansion before we had to leave!:(

My Epcot trip would not be as good if I had to miss all the World Showcase

It has to be Spectromagic for me! I have some of the same pictures from the parade when I was a kid that I have now as an adult. We try to make sure we see Spectromagic our 1st night there! Almost brings tears to my eyes every time I see it for the 1st night. Love IT! Our disney trip would definitely not be the same with Spectormagic! Only 34 days to go until I'm sitting on Main St watching my favorite parade!

MGM, oops, sorry DHS: Tower of Terror
AK- I hate to say it but AK is usually the last resort we really focus on (sorry AK!) but we fit this in among our priorities of the other resorts. But our "must see" at AK is def E:E.

We have been there when just about all of our favorites have been closed, and although somewhat disappointed, we never let it spoil our fun or even say that the trip wasn’t as good because of it. I think the only thing that I MUST do is go to the MK and walk down Main Street.

My WDW trip would not be as good if I had to miss...

My KIDS! If I couldn't take my children with me, pfffft, I wouldn't even go. Seeing the magic through their young eyes is an emotional high that only a parent can experience.

We've been alot, and I have to admit, the magic fades a bit for us old geezers but to see the wonder and amazement in the eyes of a 3 year old when he walks around the corner and sees Mickey for the first time in his life... sniff sniff...

A good thread for sure!!! Mine are:

The Magic Kingdom Opening Ceremony - If I missed this on my first day, I would be extremely sad, it is how we "Start" our vacation.

Space Mountain - When the first rumor came out that SM was going to be closed in the fall of 08, I was so sad that we were going to miss it on our trip ...it is always our first ride in the parks

Tower of Terror - Just simply my #1 favorite attraction in all of Disney

Can't wait, only 16 days until we go!!!

Funny that I went to answer this thread and my husband was the last poster......

As he said the Opening Show at Magic Kingdom is something I just can NOT miss. To me it really is the most important thing during our trip. I just hope someday I can be a part of the show.
