On our next trip I would like us to get a snack or something to share from each country. :eat: (We may have to split this up between 2 days!!) I was wondering what things everyone recommends from each country? Do most countries have a signature or unique item to try? Thanks!! :mickey:

Hi;

I like the combination plate or the nachos at the CS in Mexico, my 12 year old son likes the fish and chips in England, my DH and I love the cheddar cheese soup in Canada (Le Cellier), ...what else? Pretzels in USA, lol. I guess I should employ the same strategy as you because that's about all I can offer!

Kaki gori (shaved ice) from Japan is a nice treat to cool off with.

Other than that, most of my choices while "snacking" around the world involve :marg::beer:

Any pastry from Norway is delicious. Also, the chocolates at Germany are fantastic.

I haven't tried it yet, but there's a place called the Joy of Tea in front of China. They have some tea slushies that sound pretty good. You might try that.

School Bread from Norway! Also they had waffles w/ jam in between them that my kids inhaled!

Funnel cake at the American place! We also had hot chocolate on a chilly November night that was awesome!

At LeCellier they have pretzel bread for an appetizer that was yummy!

Anything from the bakery in France!

German Chocolates--yum

That is all we got to do in our trip! We hope to hit more next time too! Have fun snacking!

The school bread in Norway is amazing!! I got it because I'll eat anything with a filling in it and my husband thought it looked boring. Once he saw me take my first bite and love it, he thought he should try some and ended up eating way more than I wanted to share with him!

I am glad it is not just me that likes to have a wee tipple and stagger around the World Showcase - Margaritas in Mexico, beer in Germany, Champagne in France, beer again in England! ..ts rude not to sample them you know!!! ...:marg::wine:

This could explain all the funy photos in the various shops trying on hats of all types! My favourite is the Viking hat with the blonde hair platts attached!

Another bonus is that my son is 19 and can drink alcohol at home in the UK, but not in the U.S. - Cheers!:marg:

My wife and I do this for every lunch in Epcot. Some examples of what we have as appetizers around the world:
Mexico - churro
Norway - Lefse
China - Egg Roll
Germany - german chocolate
Italy - Gelato or Italian chocolates
American Adventure - Pretzel or funnel cake
Japan - Rice Candy, Steamed Rice, or Sushi
Morocco - Baklavah, side of cous cous or olives
France - Crepes, or something from the bakery
United Kingdom - Fish & Chips
Canada -Some candy from the gift shop

We don't do these all every time, but will mix and match. We end up spltting everything, so we only spend like $16-20 total for lunch.

We go a step further.. We do a "drink around the world" by the time we reach the last country we're nice and loose and ready for Illuminations.
We try to get something authentic from the country ie. wine tasting in Italy, champange in France, sake in japan etc.

My husband and I kinda tried this last time...we split everything, so as to not get insanely stuffed.

Mexico-nachos, quesadilla, dos XX, and margaritas
Norway- I think we got a beer and a sweet treat
China- Egg rolls and beer
Germany- we love the brats and the beer at the counter service
Japan- I think we may have skipped this due to time limitations
America-We skipped this as well
Morocco-We love the cafe...usually split the shwarma platter and wine / beer
France-Champagne and pastries
GB- Fish and chips

That was so fabulous last year...we're definitely going to do it again the same way this year. We haven't really made an dining reservations just b/c we love getting "snacks" from each of the countries. All of the food has always been amazing...especially Morocco and France. My husband is French, and even he is impressed with the little French pastry cafe.

Chocolate mousse and Grey Goose Lemon Slush, both from France.

We recently bought a bottle of Grey Goose. We are going to bring home Lemon Waterice from Rita's and try to make it ourselves.
