When we bought our oldest son his first car in 04 (04 Chevy Cavalier -- yellow); he named it Betsey. DS#2 is driving it now and kept the name Betsey. DS#1 bought a jeep last year and named it Bertha. To make a long story short, that thing turned out to be a lemon (leaks everywhere that just couldn't be fixed). Last week he and DH went out and bought him an '08 Nissan Xterra (great deal) -- he is still figuring out a name. It's navy --- anyone have any names??? He is toying around with the name "LISA"; but I don't care for that name.

I drive an 07 Suburban --- aka "BEAST" -- the name I've given it.

One DD named her previous black Malibu "Black Beauty", and the other DD had "The Beast"...When it was time to name my orange Avalanche, I suggested "Sunshine". They both rolled their eyes at that.:shake::shake:
Too tame. So I picked "Flame", which was approved.
Quite appropriate now, the way she burns up gas.:tikki:

My dark green Town Car is Doom Buggy (the license plate on the front and the antenna ball hanging from the rearview mirror announces itself to anyone who isn't familiar). Mother's car is Speed Buggy (old cartoon favorite) and sister's is the Aluminum Falcon (Star Wars/Robot Chicken reference). Nothing too outlandish. :mickey:

We have a 'bug' named Kirby because, the name Herbie was already taken by a more famous relative.

DH named our Civic Hybrid the blue hornet - I'm not sure why - but like any nickname it stuck and we all call it the hornet!

I've got an '04 Jaguar X-Type. She two names: Kitty Car and/or The Catmobile. A lot of times, when DD8 walks by the hood ornament, she'll pet it and say, "You're such a good, pretty little kitty!"

Poor kid needs a pet!

No name but I do tend to anthropomorphize them all. I talk baby talk to them and stroke their dash boards. Especially "my" Saturn Vue the DW now drives. My 15 year old GMC Sonoma gets a lot of lovin' and I talk to it everyday on the way into work. My wife always gives me weird looks.:) I didn't even talk baby talk to our DD.:D

When I bought my used Mercedes (two cars ago), I called it Mrs. Mertle. Any fans of the Lord Peter Wimsey books will know what I'm talking about.

Now I own a red Jetta and it doesn't have a name. I've tried to give it a name once or twice, but nothing has stuck. I'll keep trying.

The nickname for my Grand Cherokee is Ferdie, short for Ferdinand. It is named for one of my favorite books growing up, The Story of Ferdinand (which was also made into a Disney cartoon). The story is about a bull raised for fighting, but all he wants to do is sit in the fields and smell the flowers. :D

I bought my new car last summer right after shark week last summer. I bought a black jetta TDI and the antenna looks like a shark fin and it has a really skinny pin stripe by the doors. So I named her Dolores after a tiger shark on one of the shows. :shark:

Awsome! That was my nickname as a kid, and the name of one of our cats now. They really need to show these cartoons on the Disney Channel again...

I am really rough on my cars. I have a habit of hitting things-luckily not other cars. My Honda minivan and I hit the goal post on the football field, and a giant swinging gate. And I always whisper an apology to her. She is "the silver bullet" even tho she is actually gray.

And my Toyota Sequoia is Snow White. She is white, and has snow tires, and I am still carrying around snow chains in my trunk. But she NOT a princess-this truck is tough!! She has seen plenty of curbs, dirt roads, snow, and a little off-roading. I have only dinged her once. I ran her nose into a pillar in a parking garage last month. And her back window is covered in pirate bumper stickers. :pirate:

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

My car is a Kia Sephia named Sophia. My Little Girl is getting a little long in the muffler, so when I go start her up in the morning (especially when it's cold) we have a nice little chat to get up and running. I joke about wanting her do die, or to get rid of her, but the truth is, I would/will be crushed when she leaves me!

I also have a GPS that we named Maggie...Maggie and Sophia love one another, and work very well together!

My beloved 1993 Chevy Cavalier was "Baby". Unfortunately, I had to replace her several years ago after a wonderful 13 year relationship - she was literally falling apart and would have cost more to fix than she was worth. Her replacement is a 2003 Jeep Liberty known only as "The Liberty". DH drives a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee known as "The Jeep". I think they both need more creative names but haven't found one that seems to stick. My navigation system (in my cell phone) has a name though - she's "Vera".

We call my vehicle Eddie. Its a Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer edition. DH also has a navigation system in his blackberry and I call it his "girlfriend". He first got it the day before one of our WDW trips and he played with the darn thing all the way there (an 11 hour drive).

Brandon calls the van Mindy...as in Mindy van - he's 4, not too creative, likes to slip a letter in here or there, like 'mondo-rail'.

I call the van the mom wagon, and sometimes 'the truck' because truck just sounds cooler than "the van!"

I have a 1996 red Ford Escort LX I named "Candy". She is getting on up there in years, and just like a pp I have to do a lot of coaxing on cold mornings. I am not sure how much time we have left together. It makes me want to cry, because she is the first car I ever bought. I was 27 when I bought her and for more than one reason, she meant freedom.
My other car is a 1993 white Lincoln Town Car Signature Series. His name is "Marlon", as in Marlon Brando. When we first went to look at it, I looked in the trunk and thought it was big enough for a couple of people to hide in. My DS calls it "The Pimp-mobile".
They both get me where we need to go and I am very greatful to have them, even if they are on the "older" side. They are still mine and paid-in-full, and I love them.

Haha, what a fun post!

My car is named Geevie. It's a suzuki grand vitara. Get it? G.V.? :) I talk to it mostly when I'm not taking care of it and it's dirty.

All my vehicles have been girls. I currently have a 2007 Jeep Patriot (Marine Blue Pearl) which a coworker thought I should call her "The Blue Pearl". But that wasn't very friendly/personable. So, I named her Abby. She's named after Abby Wambach from the U.S. Women's National Soccer team. Why? Because Abby W. carries her team just like Abby carries all my stuff. :)

This is funny because my wife asked me what the name of my Jeep was just a week and a half ago on our way to Mackinac Island.

My current car, a black Pacifica, is The Black Pearl. :pirate: My previous car, an Avalon, I called Pete because it had been my grandfather's car (his name was Pete) and all my previous cars had always started with P. Before that I had a Prelude, and I called it So This is Love. :princess: My first car, a Probe, was Midnight Oil.

DH and I always name our cars.

My red 2002 Camaro SS is Roxanne. I wanted a tough chick name for a tough car. It works. Guess I should have named her Dale since it's done up to look like Dale Jr.'s old #8 Bud race car, but something said Roxanne when I bought her.

My 2007 yellow Cobalt SS is Bumblebee. We got his name on the license plate (with some creative liberties). He is getting black racing stripes very soon (like Bumblebee from Transformers). I am also getting custom Autobots logos made in chrome or aluminum to replace all Chevy and GM logos on the car.

DH's black 2005 Monte Carlo SS is Savannah. Don't know.....just came up with the name. He did have a black 2002 Camaro SS that he called Big Black, but he traded it in on the Monte.

That is so funny - mine is also "The Black Pearl"! :pirate: It's an '08 Ford Escape and that was actually the name of the color. I knew we were meant to be together. :cloud9: I need to get a Pirate antenna topper when we go to WDW this fall. It will be it's first birthday present!

Not now. But my first car was a 1970 Maverick with over 100k miles on it when I bought it in 1977 for $500. My friends had a name for the car that is unmentionable in a family environment. I called her Ethyl because she would only run good on premium gas.
