What is your favorite (NON-US) area of World Showcase?

I think I would have to say France. My wife and I love to have a glass of wine at different places in WS and France has a nice assortment of very good wines. (Plus the two French girls that waited on us last time were so darn cute and their accents were adorable!)

Germany

DH loves the trains. He has G gauge tracks running around the backyard, and for one glorious summer, the trains ran. The dogs and the weeds have taken their toll, but he says they will run again.

I love dolls, so spend some time in Germany seeing if I can find some clothes for my babies.

Mexico has always been my favorite, but the best store is in Japan, and the best pastries are in France! :mickey:

That's difficult because there are different things I like about each, the Celtic jewelry at UK, the wine at France, the candy in Italy....but probably I like Norway best

I am partial to Italy being of Sicilian descent. But did have an embarrassing experience in the Italian village. There were some "heavier" women in the store looking at some jewelry. The workers were making snide remarks in Italian about the women and joking amongst themselves. I made a request and said good bye in Italian to the workers and walked out as their jaws hit the countertops. You just never know!!

Mexico takes the cake for the festivity-ness of it. My mind was blown when I stepped into this place for the first time. :mickey:

I like France the most because I think it does one of the nicest jobs of exposing guests to the culture and country. Architecture, sights, and sounds are authentic. The movie is wonderful. Good restaurants and a variety of types. Good shopping. Street performers.

That's horrible! Good for you for letting them know could understand them.

I prefer UK, probably b/c I've always wanted to go there. I especially love the phone booths and we always get a picture of me and DC in them. :mickey:

Japan is our family favorite!
I love the drummers; DD 7 loves watching Miyuki and charming the "candy lady" into picking her; DS18 loves all things manga and anime and loves the stores.
We really like the quiet CS location as well.

Gosh, I can't pick!!! I love something at all of them and can't decide. Is there an "All of the Above" option?

There is something so exotic about Morocco. If you wander into the various nooks and crannies you will find some really peaceful areas. You almost feel like you are no longer in WDW. My sons discovered them on their first trip to WDW. So I know that is one of the reasons I like it so much.

Having spent 4 years in Okinawa (a long time ago) I would have to say Japan because it brings back memories.
But I love the look of Mexico and love the ride in Norway. And I love watching Off Kilter over by Canada. I guess I really just love the World Showcase period!

We LUV strolling around the world and sampling all its wonderful fares, especially during Food & Wine Fest (we always go in Oct). But a fave pastime for us is in UK. We get us a cold one  and head back to the gardens. Find us a nice park bench and sit back and enjoy the familiar sounds of the British Invasion :music::rocker::drummer::piano:

I kept changing my mind every second in the endi went for Mexico , basically because of the ride and lovely frozen :marg: and inside the building is cool and lots to see .My other choice that i was torn over was China / Japan as i love the food and love mulling around the shops

DITTO :thumbsup:We always have to listen to them several times each trip. Our DS also can't wait to get a new supply of soccer jerseys :) We loved the 1/2 yards at Rose & Crown  Too bad they no longer have them available. Hopefully they will find a suitable replacement soon.

UK, because I am obsessed with all things English :)

Italy and Japan are very close seconds!! In fact, I'd say all three are my favorite.

I chose not to do an "all of the above"
because i wanted to force all of you to choose. But i totally agree- i like them all for different reasons-
This way we can trully see where the #1 destination is:)

Norway is unexpected leader- Maelstrom, School bread, Princess dinner...

Canada is surprising trailer- Off Kilter, O'Canada and Le Cellier are all great-

So the difference between winners and losers is slight...

Tough choice!! I love them all. I picked France because I enjoy the wine and they have my favorite music loop.:mickey:

I voted for Germany. I had 4 exchange students from Germany when I was in high school,(in the 80's) and I spent a few months in Rheinbreitbach too. I toured all of Germany, and Austria, and northern Italy. I loved it there!!

In Epcot I love seeing the cuckoo clocks, just like the one I bought in Germany for my parents. And my DH buys the Haribos gummy bears, and we all love the Mozartkugel!

Next WDW trip, I plan to eat at the biergarten! DH and my 3 DD's have never eaten there. I haven't eaten there since I was a teen! I should start practicing my chicken dance now. I NEVER saw anyone do that in Germany-no one there had ever heard of it!!

norway because of the ride, i find the canada, france & china videos very boring and usually skip them, the countries besides mexico have no shows or rides

Mackflava99
07-30-2008, 02:09 PM
I agree with the Ride comment, even though i wish it were not true-

My personal favs are Canada ,China and UK
My wife likes, France, Mexico and Japan-
so its really tough-

But I feel with more votes we will see some trends-

After much consideration, I voted for Canada. I love the gardens, the water fall and all the other beautiful scenery. LeCellier is also one of my favorite places for dinner. I like the movie too, but I preferred the old one.

Thats a tough one but I went with France because I love the film and also love sitting in the alley outside of the Boulangerie enjoying a pastry(on hot nights especially because airconditioned air from the open shops usually gets trapped in the alley and makes it much cooler.)

Germany!

The pavilion is beautiful! I love to shop, eat, have a beer or a wine flight. The people are always wonderful. I might be a little bias too. I'm nearly 100% German.

There's something so beautiful about the China exhibit at WS. Plus there's all the great art work and then the shops and one of my fave restaurants is there too. (Nine Dragons). Great Stuff all around.

I'm surprised China is so low. They have 2 fine restaurants, the acrobats are amazing, the architecture is facinating, the movie is impressive, and they have a beautiful pond if you need some time to sit and relax.

France because:

1) Impressions de France is possibly my favorite attraction in all of EPCOT. The music of the classical French composers is just incredible as a background for the beautiful images in the movie.

2) great wine

3) great pastries

4) great food - Chefs is great, but Bistro is phenomenal

It was definitely a tough decision for me because I enjoy WS so much! In the end I chose Morocco.

There's just something about the open market area, the Mo'Rockin band playing across the plaza, and the cool, quiet nooks towards the back that draws you away from reality and makes you feel like your really there. I haven't been brave enough to try any of the food there, but I intend to venture into that in a couple of weeks.

Great thread!!

I'm just curious as to why you felt you had to leave the U.S. Pavilion off the list. Quite frankly, I don't know that anyone would have picked it even if it were on the list. The presentation is OK, but the restaurant doesn't blow you away, and the stuff in the store is pretty funny, actually. Talking Bill Clinton and George W. Bush dolls? Beckham jerseys?

Ok I'm new here and this is my very first reply.

I'm Carlos Villavic from Peru, a WDW fan since I was 7.

World Showcase is wonderful. I wish there were more countries to visit. But the europeans are my favorites, followed by China.

I think I choose France because of the Impressions de France movie. It's great.

The China movie is also wonderful

Japan has to be my all around favorite. Dining, shopping, view, landscaping, koi pond, drummers, CMs, everything.
Runners up:
UK: British Invasion, Rose and Crown Pub, Butterfly Garden.
Canada: Off Kilter
Mexico: Atmosphere

Tough choice.
Germany has nice wine and beer.
Norway had Malstom which is a nice ride and the CM's there are always so friendly.
Canada is like home and they have Off Kilter there.
UK had yards of ale, British Invasion and fish & chips.
France has those pasteries and a glass of champagin.
Oh, I could go on and on. I love world showcase and the USA is where we spend the least time unless there is a concert going on.

"SULLEY "RULES!!

We're torn between Italy, Mexico, and Canada...We like them all:thumbsup:
