What is the opinion on the two. I hear that Coronado is more of a convension resort. Which would be more fun and exciting yet relaxing? It will be myself husband and our teenager.

I've stayed at POFQ and walked the ground over at Coronado Springs. POFQ is very small and quaint. I like the feel, you can walk down the river and up to POR. You can use both food courts to fill up your mug as well, or get something to eat.

Coronado Springs is a convention center, and is layout around a pretty good size lake. I'd hate to be on the other side of the lake and walk to get a my mug refilled, because I'm sure that by the time I got back it would be empty.

The pool area in both places, well all 3, are very nice.

So I guess if you want small and a New Orleans feel go with POFQ, if you want Southwestern theme and a large resort go with Coronado Springs.

One other thing is that POR has Bob Jackson in their lounge at night, he is hiliarious. Yeehaw Bob!

We have stayed at both POR and CSR and I prefer CSR especially for a teen. The Pool at CSR alone makes it a winner. POFQ pool is cute and my younger children loved the theming. The POR pool is large but the CSR pool is bigger. I also like that an arcade at CSR is right at the pool. Your teen can use the arcade and you are right there. You can also order food at the pool which we love. We leave the parks throw on suits and have dinner and swim then back to the parks. The hot tub is huge. The pool and buses at POR were more crowded. We were there the same week in 2005 and 2007. We are returning to CSR in 2008. To be fair, we love Mexico so for us this resort is great.

I would definitely go for CSR. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and I think there is a lot for a teen to enjoy as well. As for the large lay-out, it is big (but I think this is part of what makes it so pretty), but there are shuttles that will take you anywhere you want if you just ask. There is also a bridge that cuts across the lake. The pool's counter service/bar area will also refill your mugs during the day so you don't always have to make the long hike if you do get so that you're very far away and interested in the mug.

I'm having the same dilemma right now ... which is a great problem to havem by the way.:D

We love POFQ. We love the pool area and we love how pleasantly compact (and thus how convenient) the resort is.

But we were kind-of unhappy with the food court. We are counter-service specialists, eating only about 2 meals each week-long trip at table-service places. SO we like counter-service, we are able to find healthy and yummy counter-service all over WDW, but the food court at POFQ left us unimpressed and frustrated.

We've been to CBR and love it there. We have no interest in POR's theming. SO if we want to try something different in the Moderate class, CSR is our only choice. The theme appeals to us, but the inly thing that's giving me pause is the size of the resort. I'd hate to be stuck in a room far away from a lot of things. When we stayed at CBR, we made sure to reserve a preferred location room (to be close to Old Port Royale), but there's no such option at CSR. However, I understand the Pepper Market is one of the best counter-service locations in all of WDW.

So this is our dilemma. We want small and convenient, so POFQ is great, but we want better counter-service food at a resort AND we like to try new things, so CSR sounds good.

Oh, and we love the boat to Downtown Disney from POFQ ....

DARN! I'd just about talked myself into trying CSR, but the boat thing just talked me back into considering POFQ again .... oh well, still haven't decided.

In reality, you won't be disappointed with either choice - both are very nice. We think CSR is one of the nicest on property at Disney, so that would be our vote. I never get the sense of it being a 'convention' hotel. We love the pool, the peacefulness of the lake, and the Pepper Market is our favorite food court. Have a great trip, whichever resort you choose.

My vote is for CSR. We stayed there last September and loved it.

The pool area is terrific. I think a teenager would like this area better than at POFQ. It also has the best food court out of all the moderates. Many more choices and much better food!

Wishmaker, the best advice I can give you is to sit down with your family and look at photos of both resorts. With the moderates, a lot of the decision comes down to theming. If you like the look and feel of the resort, you will most likely enjoy staying there.

Having said that, we love CSR and find it to be both exciting (architecture, food court, Dig Site pool with slide, etc.) and relaxing (set around a lake, hammocks on the beach, etc.). There seem to be quite a few threads on the Accomodations board right now that discuss CSR especially, so make sure to look those over, in case they give you any additional insight.

CleveRocks, we've requested specific areas of CSR both times we've stayed there and have had no issues getting the areas (and buildings) we've wanted. (Granted, we have not stayed there during the peak season, so I'm not sure what would happen when the resort is more crowded. Our trips to CSR have been in June and November.) I would suggest having a couple different area and building choices ready. Start with your ideal setup and then go from there. Good luck!

Hi I Stayed at POFQ in May 2007, I love this resort it is very quiant and so peaceful. This resort is very nice, we liked taking a evening stroll on the path next to the lake and we walkt to POR, we also took the boat to DTD which is very convenient and a nice boat ride as well. The pool is really nice. However I just Stayed at Coronado this past June and I have nothing bad to say about it, it was really nice resort , but it is huge, We were lucky and did not have a far walk to the food court, but if you get stuck way out it can be a very very long walk, we took a evening stroll around the lake one night and we were amazed at how big it really was. They have a awesome pool here really huge and it never seemed to be crowded. The food Court is different from other moderates, but the food was really good. But all in all if I had my choice I would go back to POFQ in a second..

CSR!! I love CSR for the atmosphere, great CM's and the deluxe-lite feel. CSR offers a spa, salon, full menu room service and fitness center not to mention a terrific main pool area and the best transportation that is not shared with any other resort. It's like taking two vacations in one.

My vote is for POFQ. I was not impressed with CS. It was way too hard to get from one place to another. The bus service was great and the room was very nice but I just didn't like the way the whole resort was laid out. I felt like I was in Maine-ya caannn't get theya from hea.
Sorry to any Mainiacs.

i've stayed at both and love them both, but the biggest difference that is extremely noticeable is the french quarter is one of the smallest resorts and coronado springs is one of the largest. fq is very nice and looks like new orleans streets, while cs is very very beautiful with all of its flowers everywhere. i hope to stay at both again and you can't go wrong, but fq is a def. quicker to get around. that's how i would base my decision if that's a concern.

likewise we've stayed at both, agree size is the most outstanding difference. a thought: :number1: if you're riding Disney Transportation, CSR can prove to be full/crowded most any time you hop the bus, just something to consider. :mickey:

enjoy your trip :D

That wasn't my experience, I had the buses literally to myself a few times in the afternoon and evening and there wasn't more than a handful of riders most of the time. This was early December so it was off-peak, before the Christmas crowd arrived. Didn't ride them in the morning, though and can't comment on that.

CSR is a great resort though I'd like to try POFQ once as I've not had the chance yet to stay there.
