The travel channel makes those Turkey Legs look SOO good. Are they really that good, and where is the best place to get one?:mickey:

I usually get one when wandering through the American Adventure area of Epcot. They're not as big as it seems though - one is an adequate snack for me, but it would take a couple to make a meal.

They're darned tasty though.

Yes, the Travel Channel makes them look SO good. I just don't think I could bring myself to gnaw on one esp. wandering around. Perhaps if I could have it on a plate with a fork and knife and a side of mashed potatoes...:eat:

They are so good and for me a meal not a snack. Yum, I had my first one when I was 15yo in the MK 20 years ago! Please don't ask me to share, get your own!

My husband loves these. He wasn't allowed to get them when he was visiting WDW with his parents as a child and young adult so when we went on our first trip together he HAD to have one! I will take a bite or two and while they are good muching on all that meat in one sitting isn't my thing.

Too funny that the southerns seem to love them, don't ya'll eat fried chicken? Fried turkey is a Christmas tradition and delicious! (Not greasy but moist) I think the turkey legs are smoked not fired but still good, I guess maybe greasy because it is dark meat? I don't care is someone see me eating one, "they don't know me no way.":)

I had my first one (shared with DH) and I loved it. It was greasy, but if you grab a lot of napkins, I got over that. It was still tasty and the skin was amazing!

Yum! A trip to Disney is not complete without a turkey leg! It definitely lives up to the hype!

I don't care for them but my DD who is tiny (7 yrs. old and 40 lbs.) will devour them...She will eat every part of it right down to the bone...I told her that she eats so much of it she is going to take the bone marrow out of it...

The taste is okay, not spectacular, but they are such a nuisance to eat that it was a one time thing for me. Very tendony.

The first time I had one, I did not really like it. It was just too hard to eat. Plus we were trying to walk around in the crowds and eat it. This past trip I smelled them and saw others eating them and decided to give it another try. It was very good and I sat someplace out of the way and took my time to enjoy it. I think that made all the difference. It was a little greasy and maybe just a little tough, but very tasty. I would definately eat another one.

To me, the turkey leg is a MUST! The salt water/seasoning injection really makes it that good. Usually I wind up getting one before Spectromagic will begin so I can eat while I watch it go by and then move off to the side where I can view the fireworks then and finish the leg off. And believe me, I consider the leg practically a meal in itself. Usually I get the leg from Frontierland, there's a stand somewhat across from Pecos Bill Cafe that sells em.

Only if I were Fred Flintstone. They look great, and I love turkey, but like a previous poster, I prefer a plate and fork approach rather than caveman style. That said, I don't eat chicken legs without a fork either...

I love them and DH does not. I do not like the greasyness to it and the hands afterwards. When I get one I hope for a toothpick at the end to clean my teeth. I think I will get one this time and have the kids try it. They may just like it.

My DD and I like them to share, but we agree they are very hard to eat and messy.

Always worth trying at least once!

We didn't try them on our last trip, but might the next. This is a must do at our State Fair each year. My DH and I share it as there are too many other things to share and eat at the fair. I'm always surprised at how little the turkey leg tastes like turkey. I guess due to the smoking, it always reminds me of ham.

Turkey? :turkey:

I always heard that they were Emu legs..... ;)

Not my cup of tea, thank you. I'll take my turkey neatly sliced, piled on a plate full of dressing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, etc., etc..... :tasty:

My DD and I tried them for the first time this past trip..then we had them again! They were weird and good all at the same time if that makes sense!!!! Both times we got them in Frontierland and sat and watched the parade. They are really awkward to eat..I would really prefer a knife and fork too..We'll be getting them again in 3 weeks!

They are really big though. DH almost finished one, but me and the kids honestly could have shared one! We will be getting them again in September, but not 4! :mickey:

I am seriously not a fan of turkey of any kind because it is usually dry. However, the turkey legs at WDW are normally an exception to the rule. I am not sure if they inject their turkey legs with some kind of fluid but they are generally more moist than turkey you get other places. However, there have still been occasions where I handed my leg to someone else in my party because I didn't care for how dry it was.

Ditto, Except my first one was 10 years ago!! I always HAVE to get one in every park. They are so good and I love them so much, I actually crave them when I'm not at WDW.:mickey:

Nope, never will try one. There is just something about the look of those things being carried through the parks that makes them totally unappealing to me.

Smoked turkey legs in a theme park is like dating a cheerleader. Its sounds like it's going to be yummy but the actual experience is a letdown. The first 3 minutes you're like "Boy oh boy!" then you're like, "OK what am I gonna do with the rest of this?"

I have a new tenant for which to live my life by. An exceptional comment! Thank you.

I love smoked Turkey legs. I usually smoke my own and inject them and rub them down with seasonings.
