All right, this thread has been thoroughly scrubbed, the gris gris bags have been shaken around it, and Clorox has been liberally poured everywhere.

Now, please fasten your seatbelts; momentarily we will be landing at Jym and Rachel's doorstep to welcome Little Alex home. Please wipe your feet before you enter the household and put on these complementary face masks. Trousers are not optional; they must be worn at all times.

Who wants first diaper changing duty?

You know you have to be careful b/c changing diapers can lead to :baby: At least that's what I've heard and oh Ken didn't anyone ever tell you not to mix Ammonia and Chlorox? geez

My kids haven't caught the concept either, in fact we don't even have any weddings on the near horizon.
I don't think I can stay up with the baby tonight. I was in the ER 1/2 the night with my mom. She sliced her hand open on a mason jar. It took me two hours to convince her to go get stitches. I didn't get her to the ER until 11pm. Bad news, they think she cut a tendon b/c she can't move her thumb so she has to see a surgeon today. But since this such a nice clean thread we don't have to worry about infection.
Anyone have a band-aid and plenty of coffee?

VERY exhausted and starting to feel sick to the tummy... also got a headache... not sure if it's from my diet or if I'm truly getting sick. Or maybe it's from Ken mixing all those cleaning chemicals.. Did I ever tell you about the time I played 'chemist' in our bathroom and ended up with some breathing and throat difficultys?

Beth - sorry to hear about your mom. Hope her finger heals quickly and they find that surgery is not needed!

Ellen - good luck today!

Scott - awesome about Lauren! she really is an all around wonderful young woman! You have every right to be a proud dad!

As for baby Alex, Can I hold him? I'll leave the diapers to those eager to handle them, after four kids I should be a pro but I'm not:sick:.

By the time Mike gets out of work at 7, comes home, and we turn around and drive the hour, they'll be ready for bed (or maybe I will) :D Either way, we'll definately see her in December!!

Anywhere but in Appleton, they closed ours and the closest one is a 1.5 - 2 hour drive in the Milwaukee area. I haven't had CB in almost 2 years and all the talk has me craving pecan pancackes & okra.

Did I ever mention I used to work at Cracker Barrel while in school? Shortly after I quit it closed. Do you think there is any correlation?

1. Do you not have Cracker Barrel restaurants up in the wild North? Lots of us love 'em.

2. We generally try to separate our diaper talk from our restaurant talk though. :D

Afternoon, how is my favorite bunch of people I've never met? :D Just had lunch....chinese...yum!!

Now I just have to cruise on through this afternoon and on my way home!

I think I'm getting another infection on my finger :( I don't understand why I have so many oookies on my hands. That last infection took forever to heal and really hurt. My doctor wants to start me on some antibiotics which I hate taking so I might tough it out for a little while and see if it won't go away. Send some healing :pixie: my way if you would!!

Beth, I'm the same way. I wouldn't tease you if I didn't care for you.

Hey, Mary and Di, I think you'd enjoy this. Today we had a lady who told me she was a psychic in the store today. We have membership card where you get a discount on regularly priced items. Anywho, she was buying some sequinned taffeta for her "office" We are suppose to suggest the card to customers(the card expires at the end of August and you have to pay for it), I figured since she was a psychic she'd know about it so I didn't say anything and she paid full price(there are signs all over the place about the card.) Do you not have Cracker Barrel restaurants up in the wild North? Lots of us love 'em.

None in the NW that I know of. I have been to one while on the road, and it was good!

OK.... I guess maybe Jeff was right. I think I need a leave of absence from JQ, don't you. :(

I'll be back in a week or so... bye :sadwave:

Are they using and abusing and bruising your ego? Here's a
Are you going out of town?

Anyone who wants to hold Alex is welcome to give him a cuddle. All I ask in return is a cookie, or some cake, or a brownie or maybe some non-diet soda. Can you tell I've been feeling deprived on the diabetic diet the past few months?
I'll save my turn for December! Do you like dark chocolate? :D

No leave of absence required. A clean & Pogoless JQ would be boring.

Quick zoop.... 17 pages done, now we're off to see Wall-E!!
We STILL haven't seen it! Maybe this weekend?

Now I'm craving dark chocolate, and its all Rachel's fault....

Yes, 13 is the magic age. So, should we expect to see Will soon?

Do you like dark chocolate?

Yes, I like dark chocolate. ;) I'm craving it now too (even though I had 2 pieces of it today at work :secret: ). Do you think it's stress?

No dark chocolate for me... how about some milk chocolate, maybe the caramel squares from Ghiradelli? :tasty:

My other "smart" thing I did today was lock my keys in my car, while it was running!! Do you think I'm getting a little tired from all this work?

That sounds like something I would do. I've locked my keys in the car so many times in the past. Thank goodness for keyless entry! Now I can't lock up the car without the remote safely in my hand!

Evening all, most of you are probably already :sleepin: I should be too, pretty soon. I met a friend of mine for dinner, it was so nice to see her. She's getting married in a couple weeks so it was nice that she had some time before that we could get together. Then I took the girls up to my parent's house to make sure everything was ok. I watered the flowers out back. I swear the dogs were barking at everything, I'll be surprised if my parents don't have a notice from the homeowner's association when they get back :shake: So I guess I'm going to go fold some laundry and head off to bed.

Do you all think Pogo is really serious? Don't you think he knows how much we will miss him? Hope you all have a good night

It seems that the Drummerboy family is now +1. DW has adopted a Great Dane (which means we have adopted it). Abigail is a black Dane, about 11 yrs old (which is pretty old in Great Dane terms). She started out in an abusive household, then lived with a woman who cared for her well for about 5 years but married a man who said he wasn't going to ahve any dogs in his household  ,and then she's been in a temporary household for several months. Right now, she's not sure what's going on, but we hope she'll adjust soon. Our other Dane, Shadow, seems to be a bit mystified for now as well.

Funny story--The people we were adopting from called our vet and inquired about DW as a dog owner. The vet's office was a little hesitant because there's another woman with the same name as DW who apparantly isn't as nice with her pets. Anyway, they mentioned Shadow and immediately the vet's office opened up with "Oh, Shadow's mom. She's a great pet owner, etc." Nice to be in a small town where people know you, but I thought that once our girls moved out, we'd have an identity other than ____'s mom or dad. :D

Anybody got a few tons of dog food to spare for two big lug dogs? DW already made a huge pillow for Abbie to sleep on and she's sacked out on the floor next to me right now. We'll see how she does through the night.

Here we go again...

Wow, I see how you guys are, move while the blonde is gone. Not nice... :nono:
Anyway, WELCOME home baby Alex!!!
I'll take the first diaper, I'm back in practice since the baby is here. Well, I'm off to an appointment, catch up when I get back....
Where should I put this diaper??
I thought they moved because I was not looking.
Welcome home Alex!!
You can have the first baby change though... I like to look at babies but don't like the changing thing. Heck, my kids are 14 and 27 and I am just starting to like them.
Does that make me a bad mother?

Sorry to hear about your mom. Send her lots of hugs for me. Tell her to get well soon, I am ready for more shrimp. Call me after the surgery!
Good luck with your dad. Call me if you need any help.

Thank you that's so sweet. I see you've changed since our last thread! ladies clean up... make cookies... who do I look like Cinderella???
I noticed that post. I was wondering why he was asking you to clean up... hasn't he seen your dust bunnies.... or wait, was that my house?
I had to remind my DD last night that when she can write her name in the dust it meant it was time for her to pull out the polish.

No..... you are prettier than that! Nice Try
Shorts..... on my way to a meeting ! ;)
A meeting on the golf course?

Wow! Soooo many smart alec answers..:goodbad: should I or shouldn't I? Hey Pogo - :fresh:
Coffee Pot? I think I saw Pogo wrapping it up as a baby gift for lil' Alex....
Just couldn't help yourself, could you?

that didn't take very long....

I think it's me and I'm getting :old:.

I'm sure most of you are tucked in and :sleepin: by now - which I should be doing soon...

Do you have any extra pixie dust? If so, could you once again send it to Northern CA where my nephew is on the fire lines at Big Sur. He has been there for 3 weeks, working 16-20 hour days, and has had only 2 days off. I posted a week ago that he had severly sprained his ankle, but continues to work. Well, now almost all of the firefighters have poison oak. It gets in the smoke from the burning trees/bushes, and penetrates everything. Meanwhile, they are dressed in full gear, in 110+ degree heat. Many have had to leave because it has gotten so severe! So if you have any pixie dust for him and his fellow firefighters, send it to the west, OK?

night night. Catch ya sometime tomorrow.

Ken, god bless you for doing that for that wonderful pup. Not only is she older but she's a large breed which are the hardest dogs for us to adopt. You have to be the right kind of family to want a big huge "horse" living in your house. Thanks so much for being such a great person/family in this animal's life

Lot's of :pixie: for your nephew and all the firefighters in the west battling those flames. Some of the local firefighters here are headed out that way today to lend a hand. My father was a firefighter my whole life and retired as the Fire Marshal of our city back home so I know what that "family" is like, it's so tight and I worry about any firefighter in harms way!

It's absolutely pouring here. I think I did a rain dance last night because we have not gotten one drop of rain for a month on our side of town and the skies opened up last night. I don't really need it, don't have any flowers, just weeds, but I know the climate needs it so I guess I can deal with the dirty wet puppy paws for today!

So what did Pogo have to say? Is he really mad at us? (well not me, I haven't said anything mean!!) ;) Tell him to come back, it's not the same without his early morning post with his tee time listed! :D Love ya guys, talk to you later

Today is my DD's 12 yr. birthday:party2: so tonight will be spent celebrating with her. I can't beleive this is my last year without a teenager in my house:eek: .

Congrats on your new furbaby and welcome to Abigail :puppy:. That's already pretty old for a Dane. I guess my 4 dogs don't weigh a fraction of Abigail, all 4 are less than 20lbs. Needless to say a large bag of dog food lasts a long time.
We have laws here that prevent our vet from telling anyone about a person's pet w/o a signature. Maybe b/c animal cruelty is part of the socio-path triad.
Good luck w/ Abigail..

Ken a great dane? That's a whole lot of dog.

Abbie's a little taller and skinnier than Shadow. She's always been in female households, so she looks at me like "What are you?" DW made the mistake of giving her some canned food last night after she's been raised on dry food, and she's paying for it this morning with mopping duty. We're having to teach the dog how to use the doggie door now (no, I'm not crawling in and out it to demonstrate).

T&G, here's lots of :pixie: for your firefighter. Seems like every time I pass the television in our lobby, they've got shots of the wild fires. I lost a stepfather in 1980 who had a heart attack while fighting a structure fire, so I know how worrisome that can be.

Did you say dog food? From what I've heard dogs love possum plus it's loaded with protein. Deb should be able to help with all of the possum she's squashed.

Today is my DD's 12 yr. birthday:party2: so tonight will be spent celebrating with her. I can't beleive this is my last year without a teenager in my house:eek: .

Speaking of Possum.. I thought of you all last night on my way home from work. Our local radio station was saying that Possum Run Road was closed due to erosion.. I wondered who here was driving their vehicles there trying to squash the possums and in the meantime causing all that erosion to occur.

I also saw a sleeping possum on the side of the road...

 happy birthday to your dd!!! And have fun with those wonderful teen years!

We're having to teach the dog how to use the doggie door now (no, I'm not crawling in and out it to demonstrate).

:funny: Why do I have this vision of Winnie the Pooh stuck in the rabbit hole all of a sudden?

Rachel, I'm sorry sweetie, but your days of a good night sleep are over forever. However you will be rewarded with countless smiles, hugs and a lifetime supply of refrigerator art. The tradeoff is worth it!

Oddly, the sleep that I'm getting now seems to be of a higher quality than what I was getting while I was pregnant. I was so uncomortable before I delivered that I could only sleep for about an hour at a time... now I'm sleeping for up to 3 hours at a time!

Of course, I'm sure that will change when he's actually home with us, but it will all be worth it. Anyone want to make a bet on how long it will be before I can convince Jym to change a diaper?

How about some New York style cheesecake with strawberries, and just a drizzle of chocolate.? Maybe some cappacino?

OR, we can give you enough:marg: so you won't mine what we say?:party2:

Everybody, please be patient - I haven't had time to learn the fine art of multi-posting. Can I do it this way?

Drummerboy - Congratulations !!! All of our doggies have been rescue, and they seem to be smarter and sweeter than store dogs. And you're right - you don't just go to a pound and pick one out. When we got our Bentley, people came to our house to check out our yard, we signed papers promising NEVER to sell or give him away without checking, and we still paid $100. (He came from a rescue, which is different than a pound). DD rescued an Irish Wolfhound, a Beagle, a sweet Pit-bull, and just recently, a blind deaf poodle that somebody put on the edge of the desert for the cuyotes. She also has a 17 hand rescue thorobred - he's big as a horse!:horse:

MsMin Yes, it's raining in Az., and is supposed to all week. Let's hope for a strong westerly wind that will help out with the fires.:fireman:

Caroleh Love knowing that you sew. I've got several naked dolls here:blush:

Gotta run mom to dialysis. Keep your:fingers: Wednesday, the Dr. mentioned moving her to a facility half the distance from this one. I drive 64 mi back and forth three times a week - I could go for less.:) Bye till later

Hey all, just stopping by for a little bit to see how everyone is doing and to see what is going on. So who gets the credit/blame for chasing Pogo away?

Nothing much going on around here, I have gone back to almost complete bed rest again because I rolled over in bed last night and pinched something in my back which absolutely set my lower back and legs on fire!! I did the same thing about a week after I got home from this last surgery and it took close to a week before I really got over it.

The really unfortunate thing though is that after the last incident and again last night whatever I did causes a lot of swelling at the end of the leads on my spinal stimulator which causes me to lose the sensation from the stimulator until the swelling goes down again.

I will check back in later today if I can sit up long enough to do so.

Sorry for serial posting, but I forgot to congratulate Ken on his latest addition to the family. Isn't it neat when a new pet comes into your life?

We adopted a coal black dog last winter that has a blaze of white on its chest. I never saw it before my wife and youngest son brought it home. But as we were talking about whether we wanted to do it or not my wife was telling me that while it was a mutt that the people at the Humane Society were telling her that the dog appeared to be mostly terrier of some kind and would be a small dog under 15 pounds at full growth.

Weeeelllll, here we are about 8 months later and this dog clearly has more black lab in him than anything else, including the webbing between the toes and a love of the water. While it is not nearly the size of Ken's Abigail it is already about 40 lbs. and is still not finished growing. Our friends and I have more fun teasing my wife about the beautiful "little" Terrier dog she adopted.

Oh, and as any other lab owner can tell you this dog eats like a horse just like Ken's dog does.

Afternoon all, what's up? I just had lunch of soup and a sandwich, yummy! This afternoon the poopy patient comes in so I'm ready to get that over with. I don't know why I'm so worried about it, but she just really got to me last time she went into one of her tizzies so I'm not sure what's going to happen today.

My best friend is going to drop her girls off here this afternoon and I'm going to take them out for dinner. Their dad almost severed his finger last week at work and had to have surgery on Monday so they've been cooped up in the house while mom takes care of dad. I think everyone needs a break from one another so I'm going to hang out with the girls for a while. Not sure where we should go. They would like to go to a place named Itz which is a buffet/game place. Kinda fun, but noisy. We'll see.

So, does anyone else think it's boring around here today? Not that anyone posting is boring perse, it's just kinda not the same. :(

Have a good afternoon

Somehow the idea of Ken crawling through a doggie door (no one else thinks you can teach a dog without showing them) is not boring to me.

Angel I meant of course that you can't make it too strong as in it's hardly ever strong enough. Mind you I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't a bit of a hyper caffine addict. Everyone should have something to aim at giving up at some point right?

Have a good night all of you if I don't have time to post again.

(For those of you who were there at the I'cot meet last October, I'm halfway through Saturday and only have to finish up our Food & Wine tour before our meet w/ Mickey and then the Illuminations meet, our time at MK afterwards and our last brkfst Sunday before heading out to the airport.) Can't believe I'm almost done!! :woohoo: Next is to catch up on our family album...

Dan and I are headed out for a clambake and night out together... :cloud9: ... I'll catch you guys on the flip side after we get home!

I got great news...the inventory is done(except for the recording and I'm doing that from home on Sunday and Monday).

Do you think if we all PM Pogo and tell him Ken's stuck in the doggie door and Ken needs his help, that he'd come back? It's too quiet here.

Congrats on your new furbaby and welcome to Abigail :puppy:.
FurBABY? You DO realize the size of this pooch, don't you?

We're having to teach the dog how to use the doggie door now (no, I'm not crawling in and out it to demonstrate).

Dog door... for a Dane? Isn't that alot like leaving the door wide open? :D

Aww, come on, crawl out the door, show her how it's done!! :D

Crawl? He may not even have to duck much.

Unfortunately it appears he is serious... let's all send him emails, pms and call him!!!

Something tells me he may just want his space right now. Haven't we all had times like that? He knows how to get a hold of everyone. Pogo - if you are lurking - get a hold of someone, OK?

Oddly, the sleep that I'm getting now seems to be of a higher quality than what I was getting while I was pregnant. I was so uncomortable before I delivered that I could only sleep for about an hour at a time... now I'm sleeping for up to 3 hours at a time!

Its great that you are getting this time to recover and heal before he comes home! I hope he makes it home this weekend.

Anybody have anything exciting going on this weekend? We may drive down to the coast for the day on Sunday - we'll see. The weather is supposed to be great (but hot!).

Oh, T&G, I can see it now...Ken on his hands and knees, stuck in the doggie door. The dogs on one side licking his face and Ken's poor DW trying to pull him out. I think we'd all be there laughing our bums off.

That's what I'm thinking also T&G. He has sent me a message on Facebook.

Ken, do you want us to help get you out of that doggie door? Diane, get the crowbar!! T&G, how about a little oil to help him slip out of there. Anyone else have any good ideas to help Ken out?

Everybody, please be patient - I haven't had time to learn the fine art of multi-posting.

Multi-quoting is pretty simple. In the bottom right hand corner of each post, there are 3 options - edit, quote and multi-quote. Use edit (by clicking on the little picture) on your own posts if you need to add something (like a missing question), or correct something (like a spelling error). Use quote if you just want to quote one person's post, and it will take you to the reply page with that post already there. Use multi-quote to quote multiple posts. Clicking it will turn the plus sign red, and then when you press Post Reply, they'll all be in the reply box ready for you.

Good morning everyone!

Well we had a wonderful sleep, once the :baby: went to sleep!

Sandy, so sorry to hear that someone called you at 3  I was just talking to my mom on the phone and she said someone was knocking at her door at 3 too  Now why would people do either?

DH let me near the stove again this morning! Nothing was burned and no fire extinguishers were used during our fine breakfast of pancakes - there are leftovers, any takers?

Sure is quiet around here today :( I just got back from a mobile adoption at the local mall. We got two dogs adopted by the time I left so that was good progress. They had a wonderful boxer there, so smart and sweet. Always seems to be at least one that tugs at my heart strings.

What's everyone else up to today? Seems like everyone's gone or mad at us :( I'm gonna hop in the shower and then rest for a little bit before Mike gets home. Have a great afternoon

What a neat job you have. Do you have a Bassett - German Shorthair's ? I miss my Bentley, and our Chow-Lab does too, but we're going to wait until my mother's (20y.o.) cat passes before introducing a new doggie. We want an older boy, and I'm always looking on Az. Bassett Rescue's adoption page.:dog: DD's little, blind, deaf poodle that just had all it's teeth pulled is back at the Vet. She has a fistula that's (maybe) protruding through her palette. Some low life had put her out in the desert to die. They've given Peanut two loving months, but she's at least 12 - 14, and this surgery would be "mega". Prayers for Peanut the Poodle would be more than appreciated.

DH decided that we should go to his work barbeque / pool party, so I guess that's what we will be doing later. Maybe it'll be fun. Anyway, instead of coffee and cookies, I got up early and made potato salad before leaving for class.

You're right - it IS quiet here. Hope everyone is out having fun, or spoiling new babies. Deb, bubble Alex for me.:)

Maybe that would be a good thing, we could put leashes on the doggies, have Ken hold the leashes, and then have Stitch scare them....oh,oh....can someone catch Ken as he's being dragged down the road? Do you think we should of put a skateboard under Ken before we had Stitch scare the doggies?

Let's cover Ken with Charmin first....Can everyone bring a roll of toilet paper and join in???

First he's wrecking evoc(sp) in the attraction that bears his name and now he's scaring dogs?
Oh Stitch no coconut cream pie for you, you bad blue alien.

That means more coconut cream pie and coffee for us right?!

Sending lots of :pixie: but with no fans... we don't want to cause more wind for these guys. They truly are heroes, and have my utmost respect.

Today is my DD's 12 yr. birthday:party2: so tonight will be spent celebrating with her. I can't beleive this is my last year without a teenager in my house:
Happy bday to your DD. I must admit that I sat here trying to figure out your post though. Enjoy the last of the tween years. In November, we cross over into the Teenlight Zone (cue the Tower of Terror music) and I'm afraid... very, very afraid.

Welcome, LeaAnn! Nice to see you here! Don't forget your questions and to bring cookies.

Ken and Mary, congrats on the new "baby."

Rachel and Jym, please give us the latest on lil Alex.

Sorry I haven't posted since we moved (and thanks for sanitizing the place, Ken). Ever just feel not like talking too much?

Later, :gator:s

What a neat job you have. Do you have a Bassett - German Shorthair's ? Some low life had put her out in the desert to die. They've given Peanut two loving months, but she's at least 12 - 14, and this surgery would be "mega". Prayers for Peanut the Poodle would be more than appreciated.

Lot's of :pixie: for little Peanut, Marilyn, I hope that she can live out her life in some peace. I have seen the cruelty of people towards animals way more than I would like. It's heartbreaking, but you know the funny thing? Animals don't seem to hold a grudge, they just are happy with the love that you give them and that's it. We had a pit bull today named Irma (I know, funny) and she is such a lover, sweet, gentle, all that. She was dumped by the side of the highway pregnant, and left to die. Some guy came up today and asked me if she was going to bite him, I said no, Irma is a sweetie, he states there's way too many of those kinda dogs in the city, I said well yeah a lot of people breed pitbulls and then leave them by the side of the highway to die just like Irma, I told him to get out of my face, I have very little time for people so closeminded. Some other lady wouldn't let her little girl pet Irma cuz she has a "thing" about pitbulls. Shame that Irma probably won't get a home because of all that. Sure makes me sad :(

I am in Orlando..at ...gasp..Universal Studios. Yuck! I am not very impressed at all but it is DH's birthday and his choice.

:stop: say it isn't so!!!

Ever just feel not like talking too much?

Nope, can't say that I ever do :D

Hope everyone's having a great Saturday, Mike's on his way home so we'll be having our "date" night dinner out. I guess I'll let him pick this time. Take care all

Rachel and Jym, please give us the latest on lil Alex.
He's been out of the incubator for a couple of days. He's feeding just from the breast and bottle. They'll check his weight tomorrow (Sunday) and if it continues to grow, they are going to send him home! Anyone know how to assemble a crib?

Hello all,

Jym and I are rooming in at the hospital. They have a family room that people can stay in when their baby is almost ready to go home. We were both here all last night and Alex seems to be doing really well. I have been nursing him exclusively (except for one bottle that Jym gave him) and he appears to be eating well, but the real test will be when he gets weighed tonight. If he gained weight today his feeding tube will be removed and he will almost certainly go home tomorrow. If he has lost weight then he will keep the tube and we will keep trying. Send lots of pixie dust for weight gain.

Did anyone ever think that they would hear a woman ask for pixie dust to promote weight gain? :)

Hey all... quick zoop in from work.... I finished the album today!! :woohoo: 11 pages, for a grand total of 47 pages... I'm tired! ;) But it's done, and that was my goal.... now I've just got to get caught up on our family album. I don't think I've ever done that many pages in that short amount of time, ever. And we managed to get the girls' playground up and installed in the backyard again, and had a fun (late) night out at the clambake last night... lots of  and good music... and we even caught fireworks on the way home!! :fworks:

Rachel, I'm sending LOADS of :pixie: to Alex... I so hope you guys get a good weight gain tonight!! I bet you can't wait to get him home... and your comment a few pages back about them really letting you take such a little person home with you?? Don't you worry about that at all... it's the number one thing we hear our moms say here about their little ones, and they do great... and you and Jym are going to be awesome, I just know it!!

Sorry I haven't posted since we moved (and thanks for sanitizing the place, Ken). Ever just feel not like talking too much?

I can totally relate... I hope things went well for you on Thursday, you were in my thoughts. And I'm glad to see you on here tonight!!

:hi: Jenn... Dan asked me about you and Brian today, wondered if we'd been in touch and told me to tell you guys hello from him. :)

I talked to Pogo yesterday... he's good, just busy and taking a little bit of time for himself... seems we all go through that once and awhile around here. But he'll be back, I'm sure of that.

Okay, gotta run -- we're a bit busy -- but I'll try to catch up a bit more later!!

Teens are really not foreign creatures. I'm here for you if you get frustrated.
I haven't been talking much myself...

FurBABY? You DO realize the size of this pooch, don't you?

I am familiar with them ... they are really skinny horses are they?

Ken, do you want us to help get you out of that doggie door? Diane, get the crowbar!! T&G, how about a little oil to help him slip out of there. Anyone else have any good ideas to help Ken out?
can we paint a target and all give a good swift kick???

I'll be surrounded by two verrrry large protectors. :D They're still not as big as the first Dane we had--she weighed about 180 and could put her paws on my shoulders and look me in the eye.
Ken, I don't know how loyal those pups will be with a couple of juicy grilled steaks... :D
180lbs... geez.... I think of my poor dd trying to get one in the tub to bathe.

Well, it is too late for coffee.....anyone up for some hot chocolate instead?
Beth, I hope you mom is doing okay.

Thanks... surgery is Monday so I will probably be AWOL... You can just send cold chocolate down here... too hot.. no rain today.

I'm gone. Will you miss me?
:search:

Hey All..I am a little afraid to post in here now..first Pogo..now someone is looking for Ellen...coincidence???
Since I am at OKW I will make a run for Mickey ear rice crispy treats for everyone..
I don't see Angel either... maybe those rice crispy treats will lure her out of hiding.

:fan: :fan: :fan: I've seen far too many black clouds floating around here. I'm going to blow them away....

Anyone have anything great on the grill??? Care to share?

Thought I'd pop in and see what's going on around here..so much talk of Cracker Barrel yesterday that we went there this AM for breakfast! I had the Sunrise Sampler.. sampling of country ham, bacon, and a sausage patty.. 2 eggs over medium... hashbrown casserole.. fried apples.. biscuits and gravy... and grits (with plenty of butter and sugar mixed in!).. YUMMY!

HEY! the Extreme Home makeover crew is in my area right now - I'm sure they have some construction equipment we could borrow to get Ken out! I know they have some sledge hammers and such! We could melt ice cream on him - that would make him slippery.. and help keep him cool in this heat as he's stuck there!

[Now how long do you think that ice cream will last with my two protectors nearby?

Wouldn't waxing be better?

[Well, if you're in a waxing mood, my car needs it first, then the RV...

Let's give Stitch a break... besides.. Stitch would probably scare Ken's doggies... Let me see if Ty and Paige and Michael and Ed and Paul wanna come and help loose Ken from his predicament.. "Hi ABC! We're the JQU Family!"... I think having our fearless leader Ken stuck in a doggie door is a good enough 'sob' story to get their attention - don't you?

Maybe they can build the doggies their own special house with doggie doors.

Abbie's standing there looking at me and trying to tell me something. Now she just licked me in the face. (As DW says, you gotta know the breed to let something that big get close enough to your face to lick it.:puppy: ) I think she's getting hyper thinking about all the crews coming to work on the doggie door.

In November, we cross over into the Teenlight Zone (cue the Tower of Terror music) and I'm afraid... very, very afraid.

As well you should be--muwahahahahah.

Just keep attaching pieces together until something comes out that looks like a crib. :D

Teens are really not foreign creatures.

[Then what took over my sweet little girls when they turned 13?] :jaw:

I am familiar with them ... they are really skinny horses are they?

[Did I tell you that Abbie came with a saddle?]

can we paint a target and all give a good swift kick???

Or you could paint a Wal-Mart, but what's that got to do with anything? Besides, it would hurt your foot to kick the wall of a Target store.

Ken, I don't know how loyal those pups will be with a couple of juicy grilled steaks... :D
180lbs... geez.... I think of my poor dd trying to get one in the tub to bathe.

I'm sure they'd be very loyal...to the steaks.

Well, we're back from the gig. It was OK, but nothing to write home about (just enough to write JQ about :D). We went out to eat afterwards and that was very good.

Hey, Blythe! Awesome job on the album! Are you going to take pics of the pages for us to see??? I just finished our May08 pages, and I'm getting ready to move onto the Feb pages.

Thanks! I still have to do a bit (okay, a lot...) of journaling in the album, but that shouldn't take too long... it's funny how when you spend that amount of time scrapping a certain event, you end up re-living it and remembering so many different things... I was showing Dan the pages this morning, and said that I still had to do "tomorrow" (a.k.a. the Sunday we were there, as I'd just finished Saturday night) and he laughed and asked if I was planning on returning from Disney anytime soon.... ;)

I'll try to get some pics taken and uploaded early in the week...

My biggest tip - get out your pics and organize them by date/event... that always works to get the creativity flowing, as you can see what kind of paper and momentos and stickers you might need... and it makes doing the pages so much faster if your pics are in order. Then I usually just set aside a certain day when I know I'm on my own and just get after it... but that being said, the last time I scrapped before this "scrapapalooza", as Dan called it, was February....

So - they ought to be weighing Alex about now -- how'd he do?? :fingers:

Your welcome... it's not hard to tell what kind of parents people will be when you see how much they love and care for their little guy already...

Okay... Alex's weigh-in is complete and he has gained a whole gram. One gram! This is not exactly the result that I was hoping for, but at least he didn't lose weight.

Now we have to wait for the doctor to talk to us tomorrow to see if he can go home. I'm not sure that a one gram weight increase will be enough for them to discharge him. Everybody keep your fingers crossed.

Why can't babies gain weight as easily as a 31 year old woman?

She was born 12 weeks early, weighing just 2 lbs. She didn't even have eyelashes yet.....She had the feeding tube for a little while, but it wasn't long before she would take a bottle. They told my sister that she would need to stay there until she hit 5 lbs -- likely in about 8 - 12 weeks. Turns out she was coming on so well, they let her go home after 6 weeks at just under 4 lbs, and they've never looked back. Our Rachel is now 13 and quite the typical teen. We are all just crazy for her. It's funny to look at her now, and think of her when she was just 14 inches long. She was too small for the preemie sizes! Aren't babies just amazing?

Morning all, hope you all had a nice snooze and Blythe had a nice night at work! It's so yucky and dreary here. It absolutely poured all night last night. I hate the rain, doesn't feel good or cleansing or anything, just makes me feel yucky. Now someone keeps peeing in front of the back door at my house. One of the girls, I think it's Nala doesn't like to go outside when it's raining and pee, she's got some princess complex so I think she's been peeing by the back door. She of course never does it in front of me so leaves me to wonder which of the seven creatures in my house keeps ruining all my rugs!! So what's everyone got planned today? Good Morning all... (at least it's morning here).
I didn't tell you what happened Friday that got me so  You know about my mom's hand and how she needs surgery. Well the hand surgeon said to see her doc for the pre-ops. Now this is late Thurs. we got out of the office @ 6 since she did her blood work there. She goes on a Fri. to see her doc and they tell her he's out of town and she has to wait 1 1/2 wks for an appt. b/c the covering MD is filled. She couldn't find anyone to give her the ok.. So I get on the phone... They tell me the covering doc doesn't want the responsibility of ok'ing her surgery and she has to wait. So I tell them that Ken said (didn't really use his name of course ;)) that she will lose the use of her thumb and that he would be responsible for that so which one did he want?? Needless to say they made room to see her. They are not even using general anesthesia. Why does everything have to be so difficult? It took a better part of the day to get a signature.
Thanks again for the :pixie:
Jym and Rachel.. good luck with that weight gain. Is that a gram from his birth weight? Sounds super to me...:baby: hope the docs are ready to let him go...

Rachel (my rachel ;)) are getting pretty psyched about our trip. We want drink around the world but so many countries...so little liver. I told her maybe we could share a drink in each country. Anyone have any suggestions??

You made pie with stars on top??? I am so very impressed. Let's make a deal: you bake for us and I'll do your scrapbooking.

Hey, Jym... Nat has pie. Do you like blueberry?

It does sound like Lil' Alex is doing great. He'll be home before you know it.

So what movie do you recommend we go see today?

He's up a gram from yesterday. Since birth, he's up 10 oz. They tell me that's good but a 10oz gain for me is like the difference between pie with or without ice cream. Anybody have any pie?
Just like a dad... My nephew was 4.3 at birth about a week older and I got to take care of him b/c his mom is a pediatrician they let her take him home. Hoping he comes home soon.

I think I'm going to clean up a little bit and then relax some. Have a great day everyone, I'll check in later Ugh! I have one that does the same thing but at least its on the brick floor. I feel like I'm mopping all the time. I love the afternoon showers but hate what it does to the dogs. It's either flood inside or out.

wow! scrapbooking in exchange for pie? Can I get in on that deal. I know Nat's pie sounds so yummy but I need a new scrapbook partner  Just kidding Angel... (where ever you are) We got together twice now to do scrapbooking and who can guess how many pages we have finished???

Hey all! Just zooping in for a moment.. my pastor and his wife are at a VIP/family gathering at the Extreme Makeover site! They said they would try to get autographs and pictures for me! I told my pastor to ask Ty to take off his shirt and pose for one of the pictures.. you should've seen my pastor's face! :D DH and I have discussed going to the site ourselves.. but since we aren't family and don't have the passes we'd have to park and take a shuttle to the site.. the wait for the shuttle runs an hour.. I just can't stand in the sun (with my fair skin) and the heat for an hour.. then ride a bus that has no air condition to the site.. then stand longer at the site.. then.. well.. you get the idea... anyway.. just wanted to zoop in and say hey! and see if anyone managed to stop those doggies from dragging Ken down the street! :D
Hugs to anyone who needs them.
Drat.. I seem to have misplaced my question..has anyone seen it lying around?

Hey all.... just a quick zoop ... usually, rainy days are good sleepin' days, but not so much today... feeling a bit tired and wishing I wasn't headed back to work. :( Hopefully the caffeine will kick in soon, and I'll be happier about it!

Thanks for the note about work -- it was a pretty good night, just an odd one for what was going on. We had a woman who'd been in a car accident and lost her 2yr. old and we were trying to make sure she didn't lose her pregnancy... I had a pt. that I was trying to keep pregnant overnight who was (is) extremely high risk and she kept being okay and then not... my other pt. was in preterm labor but for no noticeable/fixable reason, and after 8hrs of trying to stop the ctxns, we just admitted her before I left and hopefully they found some answers today... we had twins born and the outcome for one wasn't good, and it was totally unexpected... just lots of weird, sad stuff like that. Hopefully tonight won't be more of the same, but with the rain -- you just never know!!

I hope your day has been better than it started out -- I can relate to your doggie story, our Bailey hates to go out in the rain and will "hold it" 'til you can't even stand to be around him. And our old man Calvin has his own issues that Dan just got done fixing in the basement...

He's up a gram from yesterday. Since birth, he's up 10 oz. They tell me that's good but a 10oz gain for me is like the difference between pie with or without ice cream. Anybody have any pie?
Nope, no pie here, but I believe Nat said she had some yummy ones... we've got tostitoes and salsa... would that help??

:) That is so cool!! I'd love to see that live... do you know the story behind the EM they're visiting?

Okay, gotta run -- need to get a few things done around here before dinner. I'll try to zoop in again before I go!

Well, at least it's a gram -- we'll take it! :) Don't get discouraged... as he nurses better & better, he'll get up there!

:funny:

(I'm trying to keep a little Alex from not being born yet tonight... he just really would like to make an appearance, I think! His mom's a pt. we've had for weeks & weeks... I have a feeling he'll be born tomorrow.)

Yup, I'm up.... hazardous to my job if I'm not! Just having the other half of my sub sandwich from dinner... very yummy!!

Well, I'm off to surf the boards a bit... :surf: ...see you all in the am sometime!

I know you had a tough night, so I guess I'll be lenient with your lack of question. ;)

I know you had a tough night, so I guess I'll be lenient with your lack of question. ;)

 Thanks...

So, the coffee kicked in and I'm back here at work, not minding it so much after all. Of course, I've still got 11 hours to go... :faint: ... but hopefully, they'll go quick. Tomorrow will be a bit of a short sleep for me, as the girls Parks & Rec schedule needs me to get up mid-sleep and get Emma to her next activity unless I can find a way to "bridge" the two. :bored: So, hopefully I won't find myself too tired before the morning!

Heelo my little chickadees!!! How are all of you wonderful people. apologize that I haven't read any of the posts that I have to catch up on. Looking at all of the pages made my head spin. It's been wild around here. Everone around here got sick so I wasn't up to catching until now.
Great news! We went online just for the heck of it and looked at USAIR, they are usually who we choose to fly because of the low fares out of Portland. Anyway, we found tickets for all 6 of us and it only cost 1,042. AND they have a bill me later program, a bank gives you a loan and you have 90 days to pay intrest free, so we got our tickets for Sept. :yay:
Anyway, I miss you all like crazy and for whatever I've missed, :pixie: and  to all, oh and Sarah, I'll se you in September!!!

By the way, did anyone miss me???

It was a nice one for us. Sorry you had such a rough night last night. I can't believe how fast it went by either.

Abbie seems to be adjusting pretty well. She's asleep on her big pillow next to me again. When we came home from pit band practice this afternoon, she and Shadow both leaped around and bantered with each other and us, so that's a good sign.

DW and I both feel like ticks right now. We had roast pork with fresh cantelope, fresh sliced peaches, fresh from the garden tomatoes, boiled 'taters, and succotash. DD came to join us between her job and rehearsal (her company is doing the musical "Little Women").

Hope Sandy has all the breakfast fixins out tomorrow. Everybody ready for Monday?

Who's watching Design Star tonight? DW and I will be settling in to watch it in an hour.

That's awesome news. I just hope you're not feeding him the Tostitos and stuff. :fresh: (Well, if you're sharing with Rachel, I guess he might be getting the filtered version of it, huh?)

Blythe, what a sad and stressful night last night. :pixie: for a much better night tonight.

Beth, good luck to your mom tomorrow. I'll be thinking good thoughts for her.

Ken, your dinner sounds like the luxe version of ours: I threw some country-style ribs into the crockpot with some baby potatoes (which I then took out and smashed with marg and shredded parm), corn and we're having mango smoothies for dessert.

Can you guess what movie we saw? There's a twist to the story, so if any of you get it right, I'll :faint:.

Hey, Rhonda... how's your project coming along?

Later, :gator:s and baby :gator:s!

So glad to hear your little man is home! I hope you don't plan on getting any sleep? Is the crib put together? Just make sure you start putting it together in Alexs' room - DH tried to put Ben;s together in the living room while watching a hockey game....needless to say it would not fit thru the baby's door and had to be taken a apart! :haha:

We saw that last week. Have you seen it?

Busy, busy weekend! We transferred our wine, and are only a step or two away from bottling. So...what do you do when you are almost done? Buy another wine kit, of course! We will start this one once everyone is back at home at one time. Thursday DH and DD go to Henderson NV for the national bowling tourney, and get home late Sunday. The next day I leave for Seattle until Friday. Gonna be busy! Got new phones this weekend, and have been trying to figure them out. I miss my old flip phone! :( Hopefully I will adjust to it soon.

December's prospects are looking dimmer and dimmer for the Drummerboys. Too many things working agin' it. :( I may have to settle for talking to everybody by cell phone sometime during the meet. I'm still up, but not for long. I've been playing around with the new phone. Does anyone ever actually READ the manuals that come with them? This one will be great for texting (which I haven't done much cuz it just took too much time on the old phone). DD16 got a new cute little samsung phone. I got a hold of it and downloaded the Fantasmic theme as her ringtone. Then I called her.....she was freaking out! She loved it!

So off to bed. A very very busy and interesting week ahead. Send some good vibes for some safe and successful work this week.

Happy Monday.. sorta...my right arm ached most of the night..from the fingers all the way into the shoulder.. not sure what I did to it..just did a fast skim.. again.. if I missed anything important I'm sorry..

:) That is so cool!! I'd love to see that live... do you know the story behind the EM they're visiting?

Wow.. what a night you had... I hope things get better and happier for you. Those are some of the reasons I just could never work in the medical field. I admire you greatly for all that you do!!!!

I know the family that they are building for. It's my pastor's nephew... my dh worked for the nephew many years ago. The wife sells candles and I actually just attended a candle party of hers. They've come to our church numerous times.. the nephew's mom (my pastor's sister) used to attend our church but they switched churches.. etc... anyway.. the story is that they bought this home before they had children because it was the 'perfect' home to raise children in. They had a boy. Then they had a girl - Brooke.. this girl was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (sp?) She is confined to a wheelchair. They had another girl,Faith, who also has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and is also in a wheelchair. The home is a two story.. the wheelchairs do not fit in the home and so the girls must be carried aruond the house. The mom has already had a hernia from lifting the girls. Brooke is getting big and heavy as she's growing so she's pretty much bed bound when they are at home.. recently the boy was diagnosed with Chron's disease. So medical bills are becoming insurmountable and the community has tried to raise money to remodel. but not enough.. EHM said that this family recieved the most nominations EVER!.. I'll pm you our local news link.. it has stories and videos of it all.

That is wonderful that Abbie is adjusting so quickly! She must be able to sense what wonderful people you and your dw are!

You had my tummy growling over your meal until you mentioned succotash..
Got any leftovers of the other stuff? Sounds much better than my Slim Fast shake!

The baby is home!

Ok, I took the Tostitos and the salsa, with some Hormel chili and about a half pound of cheese, then topped it off with some crab meat and baked it for 20 minutes on 350º.
Want some?

Welcome Home Baby Alex!!!! You and Rachel must be 'over the top' with happiness and excitement!

You only used half a pound of cheese? :D

[
Ken, your dinner sounds like the luxe version of ours: I threw some country-style ribs into the crockpot with some baby potatoes (which I then took out and smashed with marg and shredded parm), corn and we're having mango smoothies for dessert.

Wow! What an awesome sounding dinner! I'm gonna start traveling to ya'lls houses for dinner! Between you and Ken and Nat.. my belly would be happy! (though probably quite a bit bigger than it is now!)

OK, so the big news.....drumroll please....

I just paid off my credit cards in FULL!! Now I know this isn't a big deal to a lot of people but let me give you just a little background. When Mike and I started dating he owned his own family business. Shortly after we started dating (within weeks) Mike's Dad left the family, I mean got in the truck and drove away, never looked back. He left the family and business in shambles. He left Mike with the debt from the business which his mother was in no way able to help out with. Anyhoo, Mike had a HUGE amount of debt and so we were working on that for years and he just paid his off last year. Well in the meantime thank goodness with my credit we were able to buy a house and by the time we got married we were doing pretty well, paying things with cash etc. Unfortunately before then we were living off of my credit to survive. As a concequence I got in over my head myself and have been digging out. Well as of today, Mike and I are both DEBT FREE!! :cloud9: It feels so great! I can't believe that I won't have any payment to make next month to anyone (well a few people, but not to credit card companies!!) I just had to share with you all, it's just so liberating!!

Well I guess Monday isn't going to start out so bad! Hopefully this is a good omen for the rest of the day right? Have a great day everyone, love ya

Well how is everyone doing today?

Michelle, did you survive your weekend to (gasp) ... Universal?

Rachel,Jym..Did little Alex sleep thru the night? How did everything go?

I have no big plans for today, the boys need to go for hearing tests - I don't think there is anything wrong but they recommend Brandon go before he starts JK in the Sept. and I figured since I was going anyway I would get Ben checked out too. Otherwise, I am planning on hanging out in the backyard, kicking back and enjoying some Sunshine!

I don't feel like coffee...would anyone like to share a sweet iced tea with me? There is still a little banana loaf leftover, any more takers?

Euan did when he was about 2 weeks old as part of the healthy baby program. He was also tested last April when he was being diagnosed with ASD. Hearing is just fine....just selective! Euan also starts JK in September. I am soooo excited for him! I also had his eyesight checked in Feb of this year....just to make sure. All these things! I can't remember ever having my hearing tested, or my eyes until I was about 12 or 13. How did we ever survive?? ;)

Ben had his hearing tested at birth, which is why I don't think there is anything wrong.

Because we adopted Brandon, I don't know if his was done or not, and he has VERY selective hearing! I am sure he is fine too, but, you never know!

I just know things can change from birth anyway. Last night we had dinner at Jays parents and his mom was saying that his first grade teacher was complaining that Jay did not listen to her. When they took him for a hearing test he only had 50% hearing because of a blockage and had to get tubes put in.

I never even though about an eye exam, I should schedule that too!

I am excited for Brandon starting JK, I am stressed over the part-time care needed before and after school once I return to work and taking Ben to daycare... a lot of running around! But, we will figure it out, we are not the first people to have to do it, right?

Happy Monday to all. Everyone O.K.? I don't have any cookies to offer - just some stale Angel Food cake. It dips well in the coffee tho'.

No big plans today. Dialysis for mom, and hopefully, stop at the bakery so I'll have more to offer tomorrow. It's raining in sunny Az., and below 100 for the next few days. LOVE IT ! My Chow likes to sit by the front door and just watch everything, and today, she can. Around Sept., we just open the door at 5:00 a.m., and she never moves.

How does dinner sound? Crab cakes:crab: and corn on the cob? Maybe a small salad.

Everyone have a great day!:)

Hey all, just stopping in to see what is up. I have still been struggling with recovering from the last back surgery.

Then over the weekend I found out that an Aunt of mine who also happens to be my Godmother is going to pass away in the next week or so. She had lung cancer about 10 years ago and then they got it to go into remission. Then about two weeks ago she went to the doctor because she had messed around with what she thought was a chest cold for a couple of weeks. After trying several things they finally did some x-rays of her chest and found that the cancer was back. Then one day last week she suddenly had trouble speaking, seeing, and eating so they x-rayed her head and found that the cancer had spread to her brain. Now she is so bad she can't see or speak at all and is all but gone already. She has hospice in at this point and they expect the end to come sometime this week. So needless to say I am not in the best of moods right now.

So who has something silly to say to cheer me up?

What was the clock's favourite game?

Tick tack Toe!

 Jasper. I am so sorry for your family. I hope that your aunt is comfortable.

So does the clock have a "hammer" toe to strike the bell with?

Anyway, thanks for your well wishes. As far as we can tell she is comfortable. Since she is unresponsive it is hard to tell how she really feels. More than anything we are all in shock because this came up so suddenly. She had been seeing her doctors and getting tests done regularly to see if she was relapsing at all and those came out all clear as recently as late May.

Even though we are all shocked, we are also very grateful for the extra ten years that we all feel like we got with her. There were a couple of times when she went through this ten years ago that the doctors said we were down to a matter of weeks or maybe a month at the most and yet she managed to overcome it and get 10 good years more with her kids, grandkids, and the rest of us.

I also realize that many of you may think it odd that I am so concerned over an Aunt but my family is VERY small so we were able to get quality time with a lot of our relatives that in much larger families you would not get to have. My wife's family is a prime example of that.

My wife is the second youngest of 10 kids, her mother was the oldest of 9 kids and her father was the youngest of 16 kids! Needless to say there were many Aunts, Uncles, and first cousins that she never really knew. When her Father passed away last December my wife was 45 years old. As they were looking at some old pictures to get ready for the viewing they got to talking and figured out that her oldest uncle on her father's side of the family would have been 108 years old if he were still living!

So needless to say, I do feel fortunate for the closeness I have had in my family!

So did you hit the lottery or what? We have been trying to get caught up on bills for years but every time we get close I end up having yet another surgery and that just sets us back even further. I do keep hoping that we will hit the lottery ourselves but since I only buy a maximum of one ticket a week and then only if I happen to go past the store so my odds are not very good. Oh well, if I am poor I know I am in good company with a lot of other fine people!

So did you hit the lottery or what? We have been trying to get caught up on bills for years but every time we get close I end up having yet another surgery and that just sets us back even further.

I understand we have struggled so much, Mike had quite a few medical bills with motorcycle accidents and surgery and we were paying them for years. We are just at a point in our lives where Mike was able to sell a motorcycle he has and we didn't have anything else to pay off, nothing and no one was broken, it was just good timing. I was paying $443 a month on my credit cards every month so it's going to be quite a shock next month when that doesn't have to be paid!

Yay! My twin is here! Hi Jenn!

Mary you will do just fine. You are a great person and you have a good presence - that will stand you in good stead in an interview. I am guessing you already know something about Frankenmuth already but make sure you have some questions ready to ask about them. I'm sure someone from this thread can come up with a relevant question or two for them - eh?

Jasper, so sorry about your aunt, especially while you are going through everything else at the moment. (carefully)

So not only are the two user names similar but the real names both begin with J. How are we supposed to cope with that?

Jym, I don't know if Bastille Day is a holiday in France but I wouldn't put it past them to re-enact the guillotine with a few politicians (especially from countries they didn't like which gives them a fairly large group to choose from!)

It's a big insurance agency. I'm going to interview for Audit Associate I. A lot of duties the way that it looks, mostly with computers, and that is my strong point. Have a computer, I can help fix it? Well software mostly. Needed a question in there somewhere.

The hearing tests went A O K...as I thought, purely selective!

Jamie, welcome back!! Not that I was here when you were, but still great to see you here!

Jasper, It is always so sad when something like that happens

Mary, good luck with your job interview!

Tinkerbellybutton, we ate one loaf and I put one loaf in the freezer! There is still some left!

So now that Monday is over, how is everyone chillaxin? We had a BBQ for dinner, the kids are bathed and tucked in, I am winding down and I think will head down to craft world to scrap and watch Jon & Kate.

Hey baby! 'Sup? Just think of all the mind games we can play with this bunch!

Thanks it feels pretty good, we still have bills, but to not have credit cards is so amazing!
Good for you Sarah!

Okay, so I need some major job pixie dust please.
Good luck Mary! :pixie: and a  for you!

Carol, love the photos of your scrapbook. I wish that I could get motivated and do some pages. I have all the stuff, i.e. pictures and millions of stickers, pages, & other stuff, but can't get into it for some reason. I guess I need a cheat sheet for scrapbooking, is there such a thing?

Sarah, how did your new receptionist work out today?

Holy smokes!!! Welcome back!! Did you already come to our fine state and leave? So sorry we didn't get a chance to meet. Did you enjoy the rain? We never get that much rain except for this time of year when we have the "monsoons" :shake: Hope you had a great trip, I hope to hear all about  welcome back!

We didn't mind the rain!!! I was REALLY cold on some of the days.....but I enjoyed it!!! We climbed the Tent Rocks, did Bandelier (I climbed the ladders!), wandered the city a lot, went to a few museums, went to a ski area and rode the chairlift up and hiked down, ate a ton (loved the sopapillas) and even relaxed! I'm also sorry we didn't get to meet but like I said we always have December. Your area is so beautiful...and so different than here. We loved it!

Welcome home. Glad to hear your vacay was great!

By the way, is it just me or is this place not as much fun without Pogo???:sob:

Thanks!! Okay so where is Pogo, is he okay?????

Welcome back, Emily!!! Are we going to have a mass teaching of shimmies at the Dec. meet?

You're coming now?????? :yay: First you were, then you weren't, now you are again?! Explain please! I definitely think we should have an unofficial bellydance class at a Mo-rockin' performance. What do you think? :)

I know you had a tough night, so I guess I'll be lenient with your lack of question.
I'm going to guess 0 pages. Am I right? If so, what do I win?
Ding ding ding.... we have a winner.... Wonder how long it will take to get that first page done??
Day 1 I scanned stuff and 2 we sorted pictures. now if we could just :zipped: Let's see.... I can send you some scanned images of empty :bar:

A day to scrapbook with them?
Love it --that would help but we may drive her crazy....

Oh, I forgot to mantion that I made ressies today at Cinderellas Royal Table for my birthday dinner. Woohoo!
Are there any cookies?
ooooh so jealous....

Beth, good luck to your mom tomorrow. I'll be thinking good thoughts for her.
Thanks Ellen and do you have any of those potatoes left? :eat:

I'm so happy for you guys!!! Give him a big squeeze from us, okay??
Watch out :stop: don't squish him, he's so tiny...

Beth, I will continue to keep your mom and all of you in my thoughts and prayers

thanks

talking to everybody by cell phone sometime during the meet. We might be able to swing getting the grandchildren down there when they track out of school in March or so.
Can we all call from IASW so you can enjoy the music?

Now how do you up-load pictures on facebook? I feel like such a non-computer person. :D Lolol
Have a magical day
I asked my DD about uploading pics and she went through my page saying you don't need this and don't use that .... when it came time to the pics she said oh mom you can figure it out....

I don't feel like coffee...would anyone like to share a sweet iced tea with me? There is still a little banana loaf leftover, any more takers?
Can I have an Iced Tea with the sweet on the side and extra lemon???

Hey guys!

Just found you all on facebook and thought I'd come in and say hi.

So... it's been a few YEARS since I've been in here, does anyone have the cliff's notes version of what's been happening??

More like Cliff Mountain version with this chatty group!

I wish I had an Aunt, so I don't think it's odd. My parents are both only children... Though I did miss what happened... Sending :pixie: and prayers...

Hi Guys! Missed me?
Okay, so I need some major job pixie dust please. I am sitting out on the deck just enjoying my Monday. That happens when you don't have a full time job, anyway I get a phone call and I have a feeling I know what it's about.

Sending Major interview dust... and don't forget to tell them you already have plans for December :D

Things went well today w/ my mom. I was very impressed with the staff and the quality of care. They gave me a beeper to give me updates. All went well.... Thanks again all for the well wishes...
Is everybody happy????

Yes, and August too, which is paid in full as of July 10th. Makes me a little nervous but I should be okay right?

To edit your picture on Facebook, just click on Edit to the right of Profile, then click on Picture on the far right hand side. From there you can upload a picture or two.

I really need to change my photo.

There is kinda a cheat sheet. They have websites and also templates on how and where to place the pictures. For me, the pictures tell me where they want to be along with the paper. Okay, I know I hear voices in my head. Today I decided to make pictures smaller and add them to the paper instead of using several pages. I was just reducing my pictures of MVMCP and it started at 90 pages and I reduced it down to 10 just by making the pictures smaller.

Blythe, do you think we should get a hotel somewhere and have a JQ scrapbook retreat? We could teach those who needs help starting and motivate those that need it to get going.

Thanks!! Okay so where is Pogo, is he okay?????

You're coming now?????? :yay: First you were, then you weren't, now you are again?! Explain please! I definitely think we should have an unofficial bellydance class at a Mo-rockin' performance. What do you think? :)

Pogo is taking a break.:(

Oh that's right you were gone when I added December. I had worked so many hours for inventory that I have over a week in in lieu time coming to me...I worked 11 days in a row and put in over 110 hours and one of those days was July 1(which is Canada Day..like July 4th). I'm putting in over 48 hours this week and also next week. Because I have all this extra time to use up, along with my vacation time, before the end of the year, we decided to go in Dec. I had enough money saved up to pay for the trip, so we went for it.

I think a mass belly dance class during Mo Rockin' would be really cool!!!

I know the family that they are building for. It's my pastor's nephew... the story is that they bought this home before they had children because it was the 'perfect' home to raise children in.
Wow... that is so cool. I'll have to check out the link and see more about it -- they certainly do deserve that house!!

OK, so the big news.....drumroll please....

I just paid off my credit cards in FULL!! I just had to share with you all, it's just so liberating!!

Sarah, that is so awesome!! Congrats!!

DSNYGRL, I too hope you had a better night at work - how sad..

I did, thank you.... it was a very nice night!

Hearing is just fine....just selective!

I can't remember ever having my hearing tested, or my eyes until I was about 12 or 13. How did we ever survive??
:funny:

:ditto: -- my mom always says the same thing, esp. when it comes to car seats and how we used to travel.

How does dinner sound? Crab cakes and corn on the cob? Maybe a small salad.

Yummm... that sounded great! Much better than our hot dogs... everything ran late for us today, so dinner was a "fly by" on our way to doing everything else...

Then over the weekend I found out that an Aunt of mine who also happens to be my Godmother is going to pass away in the next week or so.
Jasper, I am so sorry to hear that... we will keep you and her in our thoughts and prayers over the next couple of weeks. It is so hard to watch, esp. when it happens so fast... and after all you've been through recently, doubly hard!! I wish I'd had something whimsical to say to help cheer you up, but sending you a  will have to do instead.

Hey guys!

Just found you all on facebook and thought I'd come in and say hi.

So... it's been a few YEARS since I've been in here, does anyone have the cliff's notes version of what's been happening??

Hey Jamie! I don't catch your Friday thread as often as I'd like, but I still love it -- it's great to have you back here! I wasn't around, I don't think, last time you were here, but I'm pretty sure it'll be just like jumping back on a bike -- doesn't feel too different once you get balanced! (Of course, I'm not sure anyone around here fits that description...)

He's doing pretty well. No trouble eating and he's sleeping good.

That's a real holiday? Isn't that like having an Electric Chair Day or Hangin' Rope Day?
Good news! You guys must be loving having him home!!

:rotfl:

Why are monday's so long? Did someone do that on purpose?
Probably just to make the rest of the week feel better...

Yup, I have a job interview this coming Friday for Frankenmuth Mutual at 10:00am. I'm so excited and scared at the same time. I just filled out their online application and sent that off. So any good thoughts for Friday would be most appreciated. I haven't interviewed in who knows how long. Any tips would help too? I'm very nervous and it's only Monday. Do you think I'll make it to Friday? Thanks in advance.
Mary, sending you loads of pixie dust for Friday -- I bet you'll do GREAT!!!

II decided that I wasn't going to do any writing today and instead I was going to get some scrapbboking done...thanks to Blythe and Ellen!! I'm excited that I got seven pages done!!! I did 22 pictures on 4 of the pages. I usually only get anywhere from 3 to 6 pictures on a page!!! I'll upload them in a little while. I have to get my journaling done on the last 2 pages.

Way to go, Carol! Now I need to find the inspiration to get back to our family album... the girls are in Parks & Rec for the next 3 weeks, so maybe that'll get me going...

My vacation was FABULOUS!!!

Welcome back -- glad to hear you had such fun!!

Does anyone want to see my scrapbook pages (http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/2123230060093439642MVoBhn)of the Osborne Lights and a few of Animal Kingdom?
Carol, those are beautiful! I'll try to get mine uploaded over the next few days... I'm still journaling.

So - how was everyone's Monday? Mine seems like it barely existed... had to get up early to take Emma to a dr's appt... good news, though -- she doesn't have to have her tonsils or adenoids out, at this point. I thought it was a sure thing, based on symptoms, etc., but the ENT specialist saw nothing that necessitated surgery, so we're trying a few other things to see if they help. (She snores quite often, among other things, so her dentist and pediatrician thought it could be ENT related...) But, the dr. was running about an hour late, the exam took longer than anticipated and the blood draw for allergies didn't go so well (okay, it didn't go at all -- the girl totally missed her vein and kept "fishing" for it while Emma cried... I wished I could've just done it... :() So then it was off to buy groceries and a stop for a special toy b/c she was such a trooper () and by the time we got home and ate, the day was totally over! Sigh... thank goodness tomorrow's another day... :)

Okay, I'm off to find my pillow, as I was short on sleep this afternoon... catch you all in the am!!

Good morning JQ'ers

The coffee and hot water are on for those of us who prefer a hot beverage at any time of the year, even in the summer time. As well as juices and sodas for those who haven't ventured forth to try hot beverages, even in winter time. It's always good to see new friends as well as old/ancient friends :D
so welcome back Jamie and Rob.
Is anyone else forcasted for a wet Tuesday? It's suppose to rain today, tonight and tomorrow.
Jasper hope your back heels soon for you and I hear you about how close you can be to your parents families.
Remember the good times as well as the bad and know when your Aunt crosses over she's going to a better place, a place without pain and suffering, and she'll be with loved ones.
:pixie::pixie::pixie::pixie: here's heeling pixie dust for you and special pixie dust to help you through the difficult times ahead. And a gentle  or as many as you will except.

Morning all, how's it going? I'm exhausted. I think Scooter has a UTI again and she is keeping me up most of the night. She is peeing all over the place since she can't hold it for very long. I got up what seemed like a million times to let her out and when I finally went to sleep for good last night she was only in for about two hours and she still peed. I have to call the doctor this morning and see if I can get her some antibiotics. Last time they just gave (well sold) me some medicine since she has these infections every once and a while, but if they want to see her I'm going to have to figure out a way to do that today. Plus it costs a fortune, as usual. So I'm going to head to work and call them when they open and see what they have to say. Poor Scooter Bear, I wish she could just tell us when she doesn't feel good instead of peeing all over my house  Oh well, hope you all have a great day. :pixie: to all that need it and I'll try to check in later

The nurses who put the IV in Euan took 3 tries, and the second try left a really horrific bruise in the crook of his elbow because they went fishing. Kids are soooo good though. They just take it.

Welcome aboard Rob. Looking at your signature reminded me that I didn't tell Jamie that we don't have cabana boys down here either; not that our JQ Babes would mind it, the management's just too cheap.

Oompah rehearsal went well last night, albeit with no trumpets. I believe they thought that since we played on Saturday, we wouldn't have a Monday rehearsal. We had a sax and a clarinet covering the trumpet parts, which made it interesting.

Jym and Rachel, how's parenthood treating you?

Hi Ellen, Sandy and Natalie! :hi:

So what's on the agenda for today? Well, besides working and all, but that's just a technicality, right?

Jenn, as your twin, you are obligated to bring me to DL! I even TRIED to make sure you were there when we went, but those pesky dates got mixed up! hehehehe

Natalie, for as crazy as it sounds, I'd actually like to see a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I like the people in it, despite not having a clue what it's about.

Sarah, good luck with Scooter. What a mess... literally! Hope the littlel guy feels better and you can get some sleep.

Ken, it's OK... Why do you think Rob is here? I bring my own Cabana Boy wherever I go! He's pretty self sufficiant and easy to share as well. Anyone need anything, Rob would be happy to do it. Right honey??? :nudge:

Happy Tuesday! My arm is feeling better.. must of been just muscle soreness from exercising. I always knew that exercise was hazardous to one's health!

Welcome to Jamie and Rob! This place is sure getting busier and busier! Ken - think we need to do a remodel to expand the thread a bit? Add on another story or two? I could run up to West Chester and kidnap Ty and gang and make them help out.. or at least I could 'borrow' some of their equipment.

I just did another fast scan so if I miss anything I'm sorry...

Jasper - I'm really sorry to read about your aunt. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Morning all, how's it going? I'm exhausted. Poor Scooter Bear, I wish she could just tell us when she doesn't feel good instead of peeing all over my house .
Sarah, sorry to hear your pup isn't feeling well... the peeing thing's tough to take. Our Bailey isn't feeling good, either, although it's his tummy and we can't figure it out. He walks around all day just fine, although his stomach sounds like it's fighting to get out -- gurgling and hissing and sputtering constantly -- he eats, but not like he normally does - just kind-of nibbles at it 'til it's gone -- but yet he's playful and runs around outside just fine, chasing balls, etc., all over the yard. Then every night, he throws up on the blankets in his crate, and it's not food -- it's more like bile, and smells :ack:. Sounds like we have another vet trip in our future... :(

Too bad about the bloodwork. Are you good with those little needles?

Hope everyone is well -- we are all good. We leave for Disneyland in just 10 days, and I'm finally beginning to look forward to it! Happy Tuesday!
I'm okay with them, I use the "butterfly" needles... but I don't ever draw kids, so I'm not sure if it's different or not. Emma wants me to bring the stuff home with me from work and draw her blood here and just take it back to the lab with me.... crazy girl.... hopefully though, she won't need it...

...not that our JQ Babes would mind it....
Wow.... I'm a JQ Babe.... I like the sound of that! :D

I thought you all were upper U.S.??? oh wait that's North American, so we must be from South American so I guess that leaves them as Central Americans huh? I guess the middle is somewhere between Diane and Scott.
I never was good with geography.

Hope this finds all well today. Welcome back to everyone, including the travelers ;)

I have a confession to make.. I hate cracker barrel. but oddly enough I went w/ Angel last week and it was great so now I'm hungry...

Hey Rob, can you que up some EPCOT entrance music???
Have a great day all....I'm hoping to get some work finished today...

Yipeeee!!! So wait you're still going in Oct too? What dates will you be there in Dec? Resort? :mickey:

I'm so glad you had such a great time. It is very beautiful here, but I'd rather be where you are!! I guess the grass is always greener right?

It always is! Though I was happy that I was looking forward to coming home....the tropical climate feels good - I was cold last week at times!

Thanks for all the job pixie dust. I feel better this morning about what will go down in the interview. I should do fine and hopefully will come out on top.

Yes just keep thinking positive....go in there and show 'em what you've got. You'll be great! You can use JQU as a reference!

Yep, still going in October. I really need to get away. With the October trip, it'll be our Thanksgiving(your Columbus Day). We are going Dec. 10-15 and staying at POFQ. The good thing is that I should have enough in leiu time to go on both trips without using a lot of (or any) vacation days. With that being said, does anyone want to go to work for me this aftrenoon?

Sarah, sorry to hear your pup isn't feeling well... the peeing thing's tough to take. Our Bailey isn't feeling good, either, although it's his tummy and we can't figure it out.
Blythe, thanks for your kind thoughts. We're headed to the vet at 11:30 this morning. I sure hope they can get some pee out of her so we can get to the bottom of this. and :pixie: for Bailey's sensitive stomach, I hope things are looking better soon!

Cool about coming back sometime next year. Maybe we can meet in Frankenmuth for chicken dinner.
Absolutely  I can't wait to get back home and see my family and friends. It's sad, but I forfeit that trip every year to go to WDW, but I guess we're just going to have to do it soon, my nephews are getting so big so quick. And now that we're debt free seems like we might be able to afford it!! Do you like Bronners (sp?)? I LOVE that place!

I have a confession to make.. I hate cracker barrel.
I actually agree with you  but I was afraid to say anything. The one here is so bad, so I wasn't sure what all the fuss is about. The food is relatively bland, those biscuits are like pucks, anyways, maybe it's just ours. I will have to say though I love their gift shop. I could be in there for days, so many fun little things I could spend a fortune!

Hope everyone's morning/early afternoon is going well. I'm off to the vet with Ms. Scooter Bear soon. I'll keep you posted! Take care

Rob, good to "see" you here, welcome on board JQU.

I can see it now..all of us "JQ babes" I like the sound of that sitting around the pool with our Cabana boys waiting on us with Pogo at the bar and also grilling us food....I think I'm escaping....anyone with me?

That would be cool. Let's definitely do it. Yes, I like to wander around Broner's, Christmas 364 days a year I think that is. Yum! :tasty:

Most definitely, all of us get together.

I'm listening to "The Road to Tomorrow" or as most of you know it as the entrance music to Epcot. Love it! Edit: Now I'm listening to the narration to Ellen's Universe of Energy, the whole 44 minutes.

Later & a  to pogo out there somewhere.

Good Tuesday!!! I just wanted to stop in and say :hi:. I hope everyone is well. Since I've been away for a few days I thought some fresh hot chocolate chip cookies were in order. Anyone interested?

I haven't had a chance to catch up from the weekend(there are 200+ new posts since I last was here). Here is :pixie: & for all of those in need.

One thing did catch my attention, did Rob voluntereed to be the JQ cabana boy? Does he realize the can of worms he opened? I'm not sure if an army can keep up with the demands he's going to face from this group and when he can't what happens? I'm picturing a JQ draft to fill the needed cabana boy positions. :bolt:

I received a PM from Pogo today and he is still around. He said he needed a break but will return. Pogo, if you are lurking come back soon. I'll have a  waiting for you.

Well, since I am about halfway between those of you in Canada and WDW how about the neutral middle ground being here in southern Indiana?:D:D

I think Scooter has a UTI again and she is keeping me up most of the night. She is peeing all over the place since she can't hold it for very long. Poor Scooter Bear, I wish she could just tell us when she doesn't feel good instead of peeing all over my house

Aren't pets such a joy? My wife was leaving home with my 11 year old son about 6am this morning to take him to football camp and then she was going to work. I was still in bed because with my medications I have to sleep at least 9 hours or I am so groggy I can't hardly move. Anyway, all of a sudden my son was in the bedroom hollering at me to get up because something was wrong with our dog.

When I got out there it was clear that he had something stuck in his throat. Since my wife was in her good clothes for work my son tried to hold the dog while I tried to fish out the obstruction. Since the dog is so big my son couldn't hold onto the dog which meant I kept getting my hand bit when he tried to back up. We finally broke down and took the dog to the vet who took less than 30 seconds to get the piece of stick out of the dog's mouth! Believe me that was a very expensive 30 seconds!

Oompah rehearsal went well last night, albeit with no trumpets. We had a sax and a clarinet covering the trumpet parts, which made it interesting.

HMMM, sax and clarinet covering for trumpets. . . I bet that was an interesting sound!

Anyway, I was just checking in and only had time for a quick scan of the thread. Maybe I can catch up later today. See you all later!

Just like the Saginaw River here in my neck of the woods. Did you know that it actually flows north? Yup, only a handful and that is one of them, and the Nile if I remember correctly. Okay enough history for today.

I can only imagine. Poor doggie!

So here's the Scooter update. The vet took a urine sample that didn't immediately show infection so he did a culture which did show some bacteria. It didn't look like a raging infection which seems kinda strange. He was a really nice doctor and thought we should investigate if there was an underlying problem to why she gets recurrent UTI's which I was all for. They did a thorough exam and some xrays to see if she had any kidney stones. Nothing, everything looked fine. So they put her on some antibiotics and anti inflammatories and sent me on my way. So guess how much that little trip cost? $370 thank you very much. I thought I was going to have a stroke. Oh well, I knew xrays weren't going to be cheap. Just don't tell Mike :secret: Oh, and he said the xray shows she has horrible arthritis in her back which we kinda knew because the vet who did her annual said her joints were really stiff. She and Nala are on glucosamine supplements to try to help that. Gosh these critters are going to make us go broke. Thank goodness I paid off my credit cards yesterday right? :D

Hope you all are having a better afternoon

Any time Sarah you need a trip down memory lane just hollar. I use to live in Rochester Hills for over 20 years so I know some places down there too. My claim to fame is that I went to high school with Madonna's sister. Cool huh? Not really, but I did go to the same high school as Madonna.

Love pierogies as well, my favorite are mash potato and onion, yum city. Olga's oh man love that place too. We don't have them up north, but when I lived down south I use to go over to the mall we'd always eat at Olga's. Love the salad, the fries and those Olga sandwich. Now you have me going. Just checked out their website, you can order flat breads and the salads, but ouch talk about expensive.

Sending you loads of :pixie:.... I hope everything goes well! When do you try your wine??

Yes, we definitely have to watch them make the fudge, and then eat it of course. Sounds like a plan huh?

Maumee's in Toledo right? I remember crossing it when we went to Cedar Point. We use to laugh at the name.

Yes ma'am, right through the middle. The muddy Maumee. We plan to go to The Point near the end of the month. Can't wait, I like America's Roller Coast, don't you?

Have you been taking lessons from Gilles, Scott? :D

Thanks, Natalie, I was just trying to help all of us "Babes" Nat, maybe Scott would love to massage your feet for you, don't you think?

Master Gilles has trained me well, hasn't he? Now if he could just show me that Jedi mind trick to turn the tables and have the woman serve me drinks.....

Hey, how did I draw two Babes? Something's rotten in the state of Denmark me thinks.

You doubt my Cabana Boy abilities?? :thedolls:

I am head of the Cabana Boy Institute (tm), you know. We specialize in the providing the best service, whether it's in Jamie's famouse Friday Parties or for JQU -- we can handle it! :mickey:

Oh boy.. if the CBI is anything like DDPI we're ALL in trouble!!!! :D

Should we evacuate the thread now.. or later?
DISCLAIMER--The Cabana Boy Institute (tm) is in no way a part of the DDPI family of fine products and services. CBI 's standards are too high.

:sing: Waaay down upon the Maumee River... :sing:
