View Full Version : Which Atrraction Do You Miss the Most?

Not counting revamped attractions, which attraction that is totally gone from the theme parks do you miss the most?

Mine is Food Rocks. Although it wasn't anything hi tech I still enjoyed this attraction alot. It had catchy songs and a feel good vibe. I feel it took alot of imagination to come up with the whole show combining the music and the lesson on eating heathy.

Don't get me wrong I love what replaced it but I wish Food Rocks still existed.

The Timekeeper

Tarzan Rocks

The live show in the Saloon. (Nobody asked me, but I sure don't understand getting rid of the dancing girls for that "sit and giggle" thing).

It's funny because I remember riding Horizons many many times but I don't remember the orange smell. I guess it just goes to show you how different details are important to different people.

I liked the Timekeeper also. I only saw it twice because after that it was always closed when we were there.

My vote would have to go with the original Journey into Imagination. As a kid at the time it represented a distilled version of the disney experience - the world that it created was quite different from anything I'd seen before.

Among all the votes for Food Rocks I feel rather old in my preference for Kitchen Kabaret.

With my now-grown-up eyes I'd love to ride World of Motion one more time (which obviously as a kid was somewhat boring to me).

Acually it seems like the thing I miss most is old-school EPCOT Future World in general.

Oh WOW!! I had completely forgotten about Kitchen Kaberet!! That was SUCH A GREAT SHOW!!

I also loved the show at the saloon as well. (wish I could remember the name)

My other great favorite was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!

I also thoroughly agree with your thoughts on the original feel and make up of Future World in general at Epcot.

Have to agree with Horizons and the smell of oranges. When I was a kid, I never like watching the China movie in World Showcase. I use to ride on the double-decker buses that went around World Showcase while everyone else watched the movie. One lap around was about the run time of the movie. Not sure what they were called, but the overhead carts that took you from Space Mountain to Fastasyland was good. Now its stroller parking.

But the Skyway and Mr. Toad are up there, too.

My most Missed Attraction: Horizons (by a long shot) Miss the orange groves, which along with the fires of burning Rome at Spaceship Earth, was a great Disney touch for the sense of smell. Plus the huge Omnimax Loop was mind-blowing. Too bad Disney didn't keep Horizons and update it periodically.

Runners-Up: World Of Motion, both Communicores, Skyway to Tomorrowland, 20000 Leagues Under The Sea, Anacomical Players (at the Wonders Of Life Pavilion), Journey Into Imagination.

I miss them all, but Horizons leads the list. The orange grove on Soaring and the ability to pick your future on the new Spaceship Earth re-trigger those memories.

Also miss World of Motion, the Skyway, 20,000 Leagues, and, of course, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. For special memories, I miss If You Had Wings, but love its replacement.

if anyone knows the name of that show, please send me a PM with the name,so i can look it up

Tough Question! But if I can only pick one, it would be the Skyway from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland. As a kid my parents, sister's and I used to try and time our ride on the Skyway with the fireworks. On more than one occasion the Skyway would stop right over Fantasyland and we would get to watch the whole show.

It's a toss up for 2nd place between Mr. Toads wild ride and Horizons:mickey3:

HORIZONS!!! :sob: This ride truly was an awesome wonder to me.

It went hand in hand with the World of Motion and the original Journey Into Imagination. Those rides made EPCOT very special. Even though EPCOT Center wasn't exactly as Walt envisioned it, those rides had a touch of him within them. They truly were excellent displays of animatronic technology and were filled with so much hope and wonderment.
What they have become is quite painful.:( WHAT were the knuckle heads who decided to rip them out and thinking??
Out dated my foot.

I guess I am just lucky to have able to experience them when I did. I miss them so.....especially Horizons......If You Can Dream It, You Can DO It. wow :crying:

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Horizons, World Of Motion, and Journey Into Imagination were destroyed - to be replaced by action rides like Mission Space and Test Track, as well as gutting JII and turning it into Imagination Institute - revamping its theme and replacing The Dreamfinder with a more "hip" Eric Idle. On this occasion, I feel Disney changed things for the worse. Change: I'm beginning to become sick of the word. It's become the 21st Century mantra. Now I've received some harsh criticism from some quarters for my post regarding the movie additions to POTC. Some people embrace rides like Horizons, WOM, and JII as classics. Some feel it's time to change ("that" word again) with the times: Hence you have MS, TT, and II - which cater to a younger crowd, the oncoming generation. I must admit that I'm a bit piqued at Disney that when they do change things, they seem to ignore the present and especially the past/older generation in their designs.

I miss almost everything they've changed or taken away: Mr. Toad, Skyway, World of Motion, Horizons, original Journey Into Imagination, Horizons, and Cranium Command! 20,000 Leagues wasn't my fav, but they could have replaced it with something better than that Pooh playground. I thought it could have been a LIttle Mermaid ride "Under The Sea" or even a Nemo sub ride like in DL.

07-12-2008, 08:34 AM
Can't limit it to just one...Horizons, Kitchen Kabaret, and the original Tiki House. I know change is good sometimes but not just for the sake of change. Someone mentioned the old penny arcade/magic shop on Main Street. That was a huge mistake when it came to changing those out! I am sure Walt would not agree with that move. Main Street is all about the feeling and not just selling clothing.

I remember all of this stuff, and I didnt even know I did until I started reading this thread. Wow. such a bummer. I miss all this stuff. I have to say I really wish I could take my Family on 20000 leagues and I do remember thinking, hey kids lets go see figment and thinking that was great, and then doing it and the rest of my family looked at me like,"what were you thinking. that wasn't as fun as you made it sound." I didnt realize it was different. It has just been too long for me. :-(

and........to add to the pooh playground. I hate all the playgrounds. They are a wasted space if you ask me and I don't like my kids running around like that at disney, I have 4 little ones and only 2 of us.

The Backlot tour used to be so good. Being able to walk through those soundstages was neat. I remember walking through and seeing them film Wheel of Fortune. This had to be in the earyl-mid 90's. They removed all the old sets (Golden Girls house). Not sure if they moved them anywhere else and may be daving them for something else. How about Captain EO. I just watched that on youtube the other day, not as good without the 3-D glasses.

Well, lets's see...

20K Leagues under the Sea is the one that pops to mind first, but there are many others.

I think with 20,000 Leagues the problem is that nothing came in to replace it. Tony Baxter said that you always have to go one better when you remove something. Now, I understand that many times they don't get it quite right, but they didn't put ANYTHING in to replace 20,000 Leagues! At least they could have tried!

Ok, I'm off the soapbox now.....
