July 3, 1906 – Actor George Sanders, the voice of Shere Khan the Tiger in Disney’s 1967 classic “The Jungle Book” was born in St. Petersburg, Russia.
July 3, 1908 – Author, journalist and newspaper editor Joel Chandler Harris, famous for his collection of Uncle Remus stories, passed away in Atlanta, Ga. (In 1946, Disney would release “Song of the South” an animated feature based on Harris’ work.)
July 3, 1910 – Marcellite Garner, the voice of Minnie Mouse beginning in 1928, was born in Redlands, Ca.
July 3, 1914 – Disney composer George Bruns, whose work could be heard in the 1954 Disneyland TV Series, the 1955 Mickey Mouse Club TV Series, “Sleeping Beauty,” and played the tuba with the Firehouse Five Plus Two, was born.
July 3, 1930 – Rhoda Williams, the voice of Drizella in Disney’s 1950 classic “Cinderella,” was born.
July 3, 1942 – Disney’s Pluto short “The Sleepwalker” was released.
July 3, 1947 – Disney’s 1946 feature “Song of the South” was released in Australia.
July 3, 1957 – Disney’s People & Places documentary “Lapland” was released.
July 3, 1957 – Tamara Scheer, Walt Disney’s granddaughter, was born to Ron Miller and Diane Disney in Los Angeles County, Ca.
July 3, 1957 – The Disney Featurette “Alaskan Sled Dog” was released.
