so that is what these bumps ended up being..i had written a thread a couple weeks ago about mystery bumps on me...the doctor first thought it was an allergy to something..but it turns out to be this viral infection called pityriasis rosea..
there is no cure or whatever..you gotta just let it run its course..
it can last anywhere from 3-12 weeks!!
im going on week 4 now..this soooo seriously stinks!
more and more bumps keep popping up and at times im so itchy!!..

im getting married on Sept 27th..i really really hope they are gone by then..and they should be..but i can just see my luck and still have them..

im just wondering if anyone else has been through this "infection" and have any advice or tips?

also maybe a little pixie dust for it to be gone by my wedding day!! :)

I should have been a doctor, eh Brittany? ;)

This is what I told you my son had last year. Honestly, it went away just as the doctors said, and he is completely scar-less. Don't worry! From experience you will be good to go! :bride::groom:

Yes, I believe that is what I had a few years ago. I woke up with it one morning, and then about a month later it was gone. I didn't have any itching, though. I don't believe there is anything you can do for it. But, maybe if you take Benedryl that might help the itching?

My mother suffered with this last summer. She had it for approx. 10 weeks. She was miserable, so I am sending lots of good wishes your way.

She suffered no lasting scars, so it looks like by your wedding you should be all clear!

I actually did have this once about 3 years ago. It does totally stink to have it! Luckily it didnt get on my face (Im hoping your having the same luck ) but it was everywhere else and sooooo itchy! I used a ton of calamine lotion and that really seemed to help alot. Plus I noticed that I itched the most at night in my sleep so I clipped my nails super short (SO SAD) & I slept with thick socks over my hands.. I know .. wierd.. but it worked for me.

If it makes you feel any better mine only lasted about a month. I really think you will be ok by your wedding as long as you dont itch. Maybe like a PP said and try some benadryl to help with the itchiness?

Yes - I actually had it twice! They say that there is only about 5% of the affected population that will get it more than once - guess that's my luck!

The first time was in college and I was wrongly diagnosed with ring-worm (gross!) After two weeks of treatment for that, I went to a specialist who correctly diagnosed me. I had roughly twenty or so spots on my body and it only lasted a few weeks.

It then came back about 3-4 years later, and much worse than the first time, lasting the whole 12 weeks. I had hundreds of spots on my arms and trunk that itched like crazy!

They recommended I take benadryl at night to help with the itching and I tried to stay very moisturized (be it with the prescribed steroidal cream or just plain lotion.) I was also on antibiotics during this time, which didn't treat it, but could counteract its effects. Don't worry though, even with all of those spots, none scarred.

One thing I didn't try, but would definitely do in the future (God forbid I get it again) is UV light therapy, called PUVA - which they use to treat other skin problems like psoriasis. But that is some serious therapy, so be sure to really talk in depth with your doctor before doing it.

Good luck, I feel your pain - or should I say your itching!!!

thank you..reading your post makes me feel so much better..i mean im really sorry you had to go through this twice!! but knowing you had it for that long...everyone i keep talking to says it only lasted a month for them..and im already over a months time...

i have been taking benadryl at night..im trying to keep up with putting lotion everywhere that it is..but i swear the more i do that the itchy i am...if i put powder on the spots instead to keep it dry i feel so much better..but i dont know if with me doing that im making it worse in the long run?!?!

ahh..all i know is i want this to go away...i only seem to get itchy at night and in the morning..during the day im find..its when im hanging out at home doing nothing it starts to bother me...i hate this..i jsut want it gone already!!

my doctor told me to try tanning..wether outside or at a tanning salon..and just try it for like 10 minutes at a time..so i have gone a few times..dont really know if its doing anything though..
