We will be at Boardwalk in Sept - Oct. I have just been informed at DM and DD will be joining us for part of the stay. I tried to get them a studio through DVC but all are sold out. If they book a room on their own (non-DVC) at Boardwalk through Disney reservations could it be near our room? Or are the DVC rooms totally separate from the non-DVC rooms at Boardwalk?

They won't be near each other - DVC is goes to one side and the regular rooms are on the other side of the resort.

You can always try to get them a cash discount in a studio. Then they could, through requesting it, be close to you.

They could also book at BWV through CRO. Just tell them to book the villas, not at the Inn.

That is what I was going to say. If they book through CRO and book a villa, then the rooms could be close, I would note it on both reservations and inquire again at check-in.
