June 18, 1943 – Mouseketeer Charley Laney, a member of “The Mickey Mouse Show” during the 1956 –1957 season was born.
June 18, 1954 – Disney’s animated short “Casey Bats Again,” and The Martins and the Coys” were released.
June 18, 1956 – Disneyland’s Storybook Land, including Canal Boats of the World opened. The Canal in Fantasyland contains 465,000 gallons of water in which 13 boats where powered by outboard motors. The vessels were named Cinderella, Daisy, Aurora, Alice, Faline, Flora, Fauna, Flower, Katrina, Merryweather, Wendy, Snow White, and Tinkerbell. The ride was partly based on Madurodam, a tourist attraction in Holland that Walt Disney had visited.
