June 15, 1913 – Writer and composer Tom Adair was born in Newton, Kansas. His Disney credits include the 1978 TV special “NBC Salutes the 25th Anniversary of the Wonderful World of Disney,” and the 1959 animated feature “Sleeping Beauty.” Adiar’s music can also be heard on Disneyland’s Main Street USA and The Golden Horseshoe Revue.
June 15, 1917 – Art director and set designer Bill Martin, who helped Walt Disney create the Disneyland attractions “Sleeping Beauty’s Castle,” “Snow White’s Adventure,” and “Peter Pan’s Flight,” was born in Marshalltown, Iowa.
June 15, 1943 – Mouseketeer Eileen Diamond, who appeared during the 1956-1957 season was born.
June 15, 1944 – This day’s Disney Studio Labor-Management Commission Newsletter Notes: “Ward Kimball’s Huggajeedy 8 is doing a swell job of entertaining the boys in the hospitals. Next trip will be to the Noronia T.B. Ward, where they’ll try a new act, complete with “Chalk-Talk,” Skits and jam session.” This is in reference to Kimball’s musical group which will eventually turn into The Firehouse Five Plus Two.
June 15, 1949 – Actor Jim Varney, who supplied the voices for Jebidiah Allardyce ‘Cookie’ Farnsworth in Disney’s “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” and Slinky Dog in Disney’s “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2,” was born in Lexington, Ky.
June 15, 1957 – The “Don Defore’s Silver Banjo” shop opened in Frontierland at Disneyland.
June 15, 1959 – Disney’s 90-minute Live TV special “Kodak Presents: Disneyland ‘59” aired on TV.
June 15, 1960 – The “Hallmark” Card Shop opened on Main Street in Disneyland.
June 15, 1961 – The 1st annual “Grad Nites” were held at Disneyland.
June 15, 1964 – Gavin Greenway, who would compose “Tapestry of Nations” used for the spectacular parade procession, and “Reflections of Earth” used to accompany Disney’s Millenium Fireworks/Laser show, was born in England.
