Traveling on Thanksgiving Day

Has anyone ever actually done a long road trip on Thanksgiving Day? We're going to drive down to Disney on Thanksgiving Day but will have to stop and finish our trip on Friday. My question is - did anyone find it difficult to find places to eat (specifically things like Bob Evans, McDonald's, etc.) on Thanksgiving - are places even open? I just want to know before we go - so I can plan our stops accordingly.

It really is hit and miss. You can find some things open, but you may have to try a few stops as most places are closed on Thanksgiving Day.

We've had the best luck eating at state-run rest areas on Thanksgiving Day. We've found other restaurants to be really hit-or-miss. :mickey:
