We are taking DD to the World to celebrate her 3rd birthday next late October into early November. We are having a hard time deciding where to stay-Wilderness Lodge or Riverside.
The Wilderness Lodge is my absolute favorite resort and I love absolutely everything about it. However, there is quite a price difference between my choices.
We have never stayed at Riverside, and thought it might be fun to try a new spot. My DH is interested in the fishing, which I know he can do also at Wilderness.
It would be nice to stay at a cheaper resort and then have that much extra to spend on other fun things-BBB, fishing, more table service meals, and of course souveniers.
Which resort would you choose???

I think your thoughts on going mod and having more fun money are right on. Your DD will absolutely love BBB, I highly recommend it! A 3 y/o isn't going to notice or appreciate the difference. Funny aside, we took our niece then 8 on her first and only WDW trip for 10 nights at WL- her take on the lodge "it's too much brown". She probably would have been much more taken with one of the All Stars.

Those are two of my favorite resorts!! I find Riverside charming with lots to offer so I would stay there and use the savings for other extras that will blow your DD away like BBB.
Enjoy :D

I said the Riverside because after staying at deluxes all the time, I really enjoyed POR. The swimming pool is awesome especially for kiddos. And you could make some pretty grand memories with the extra money you save from the deluxe. Afterall, you will mostly use the room for sleeping so it doesn't really matter which resort your at.

We've visited the WL and it's a beautiful resort we just thought it was a little busy for our taste. We like the feel of POR AB section it's laid back and a peaceful walk on the winding overgrown paths. I think your dd will like it and especially if she gets to do the BBB. What little girl doesn't like to feel like a princess?

Saving money for other things in Disney is always best...

Wilderness Lodge! I love how they created a mountain west atmosphere they in the middle of swampland of Florida. The huge lobby is worth staying there almost by itself.

I really enjoy Riverside but Wilderness Lodge is good too. If money is tight do Riverside and maybe a little something extra.

Since you might be able to get away with 2 double beds or 1 king (instead of 2 queens at WL), I'd try Riverside and use the $$ for something special like La Nouba. If you choose Riverside, please let us know how you like it.

POR, I'd save the $$ on the resort and use it for other fun things for your DD. She won't appreciate the difference in the accomodations and she'd love BBB.

I voted for WL just because we love it there and can't imagine a more perfectly peaceful place to be in the middle of the day in the heat of the summer. However, I also recall how DS at your DDs age LOVED the All Star Movies resort. If money is tight, have you considered staying there?
Afterall, you will mostly use the room for sleeping so it doesn't really matter which resort your at. This is also a consideration for you. With the WL, as you know you can take the boat back in quick fashion for a break during the day. POR or All Stars won't be as convenient to do this.

If the price differential is not a major issue, I'd go with the WL...we loved the theming, the pool, the restaurant selection ( a fun one and a very nice one) and the queen sized beds.

i stayed at WL on my honeymoon, and though i absolutely loved it, i would never go there again. it is breathtaking, i love the boat ride to MK, but it is not worth the extra money. i have more fun at POR. i have stayed there many times. the atmosphere and decor are quite similar. they both have woodsy feels to them. i love POR though. it's not only the cost of the room, but the cost of the food. when we stayed at WL we constantly went to Roaring Forks for food, because i couldn't justify a table service all the time for food. POR has so many more options because the food court is like Roaring Forks, but way bigger. I like the food price better. and the swimming situation is far better at POR. i didn't like that no matter which pool we went to at WL there were a million kids. I just wanted to relax in a pool with my new DH but there were children screaming (having fun) everywhere. and yes i know then why go to WDW on your honeymoon? i don't mind it that much, it's just i'm used to the quiet pools at POR. I have never been in a quiet pool at POR or CB with more then five other people outside whoever i'm with. i loved that so much better. when we went to Boatwrights on our honeymoon for dinner to visit POR my DH was kinda disappointed we weren't staying there (the food court was under construction so we went to CB for the first few nights, original plan was POR all 9 nights). he loved the atmosphere and the quiet pools (didn't have time to swim while at CB so he never real saw them there). plus another bonus of POR is the carriage rides at night! the pick you up right behind the food court and take you around POR or POFQ. it's really nice (about $30? i think if i remember correctly) my 3 yr old niece loved it last year and said she was a princess. she also still talks about "her lucas" which was the horse they had pulling the carriage. also they do have camp fires on the island with the pool. i think you have to buy the s'more stuff if you want to have them, but otherwise it's free. i think your DD might be happier at POR because of all the things to do and you'll be more able to spoil her with the money you saved :)

I have never stayed at either resort but I've been to both. If money isn't an issue I'd go with Wilderness Lodge. It is beautiful!
