May 26, 1915 – Character actor Sam Edwards was born in Macon, Ga. His Disney voice credits include Thumper for the animated feature “Bambi” and “Ollie the Owl” for the America Sings” attraction.
May 26, 1920 – Singer Peggy Lee, the voice of many characters in Disney’s 1955 animated feature “Lady and the Tramp,” was born in Jamestown, N.D.
May 26, 1928 – Walt Disney copyrights his Mickey Mouse film “Plane Crazy.”
May 26, 1949 – Actress Dayle Haddon, who appeared in the 1973 live-action feature “The World’s Greatest Athlete,” was born in Canada.
May 26, 1953 – Disney’s special cartoon “Adventures in Music: Melody” was released.
May 26, 1962 – Comedian Bob Goldthwait, the voice of Pain in Disney’s 1997 “Hercules” and the TV series “House of Mouse,” was born in Syracuse, N.Y.
May 26, 1963 – “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” NBC-TV show won 2 Emmy Awards. One for Outstanding Program Achievement in the Field of Children’s Programming, and a second for Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction and Scenic Design. (Carroll Clark - Art Director, Marvin Aubrey – Scenic Design.)
May 26, 1976 – The Disney movie “The Littlest Horse Thieves” was released under the title “Escape from the Dark” in England.
May 26, 1983 – The information area in Communicore West “Epcot Outreach” (Closed July 1, 1994) and “Epcot’s Teacher Center opened.
May 26, 1986 – Epcot’s Spaceship Earth” reopened with a new narration by legendary newsman Walter Cronkite and a new finale song.
