My family of 4 (me, DH, DS16 and DD12) ate lunch at the Yak and Yeti restaurant in the Animal Kingdom on 5/23/08: We were just going to grab counter service but decided at the last minute to see if we could get in since we were walking by. It was about 11:15 and it was no problem to get a table right away, even on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. As a matter of fact, we got “the best table in the house”. No kidding….it was a table upstairs in the corner, right next to windows on both sides. We had a great view of all the folks walking to/from Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. My son loves Asian food and the rest of us are fairly adventurous with our eating so we each decided to get something different and do some tasting of each other’s entrees. We decided not to get an appetizer since we like to snack around all day long at whatever park we’re in. DH ordered Shaoxing steak (http://www.kodakgallery.com/PhotoView.jsp?UV=781859107879_996323547306&collid=97529233306.667073547306.1211772094451&photoid=467073547306&folderid=0&view=1&page=1&sort_order=&albumsperpage =&navfolderid=2008) and shrimp, DS ordered the duck with Anandapour glaze, DD got crispy honey chicken (http://www.kodakgallery.com/PhotoView.jsp?collid=97529233306.667073547306.1211 772094451&photoid=177073547306&folderid=0&UV=781859107879_996323547306) and I went with the beef and broccoli. Our waiter, Edwin was fabulous! He took the time to chat just a bit with us about our window view and found out where we were from. He also kept our drinks filled which is very important to our family.

The food was wonderful! I think each of us had a meal that exceeded our expectations. DD loved the chicken, especially the honey sauce. DS has now become a duck fan (he had never eaten it previously) and DH had the most wonderful skirt steak with his tempura shrimp. I don’t know what it was marinated in, but it was very tasty! My beef and broccoli had a wonderful sauce and the quality of the meat was excellent. Since both DH and I are Iowa farm kids, raised on cattle farms, the compliment on the beef in both cases is something not often given. We did order a dessert to share and got the fried wontons with cream cheese filling and pineapple. All in all it was an extremely enjoyable meal and we will definitely eat there again.

The restaurant was nicely themed and air-conditioned on a hot day. All the employees from the hostess to the servers were very polite and friendly. In our opinion, this restaurant is something that Animal Kingdom needed desperately.
