Very first visit was in 1987 and I was 18 years old. I have to say that it was not the trip that made me fall in love with Disney. We stayed off-site and only went to one park and kind of rushed through it so I really did not appreciate it. When DH and I went again in 2002 for the first time with our DD's it was totally different. We stayed at the AKL and did the dining plan or whatever it was back then. We stayed for 4 nights and it was wonderful. Before the end of the trip we knew that we just had to go back the following year for one more trip and stay a full week to really slow down and enjoy the resort and everything Disney had to offer. We have been every year since then. We keep saying just one more year and then we won't go for a few years but we just can't stay away. I always said I would never go in the summer because of the heat and crowds but I'm sure I will change my mind about that too. This really is the last year we can pull my DD out of school and hot crowded disney is better than no disney.

I first visited when the MK had only been open a week or so, in late October, 1971. I was 15 years old and we camped off-site with my family and another family from our town that were close friends of ours. My mother was a big Walt Disney fan and had followed the construction so we planned ahead of time to go shortly after it opened.
My memory is faded now, but what I remember specifically was that crowds were much less than we expected and were much much less than they are now. There was no fast pass in those days of course, but we didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for any attraction. I can remember thinking that 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was a really cool ride, even though looking back now I realize that the underwater effects were pretty low-tech. I also remember the circle vision 360 theater (I don't remember what the film was named), and IASW. And of course the A-E ticket books; you basically had to pay for every attraction you rode. My family was pretty tight with the $$, so we carefully used our tickets.
We were only there for a long three weekend and only visited the MK for one day. and spent the rest of the time at the campground. We did visit Ichetucknee Springs on the way home on that trip which was also cool . . . very cold, in fact.

I was a deprived child! Just kidding, but I didn't visit for the 1st time until I was 38 years old! DS's were 4 & 6! It was magical! We couldn't believe that alot of people that we talked to visited every year! Well that first trip hooked us & in 6 years we've now visited 5 times! We've taken a couple of years to take other vacations, which have been great, but we end up missing Disney sooooo much! My mom was 62 when she visited her first time! She of course came with us & then again the next year! She loves it as much as we do! :mickey:

I was 7 in 1975 when my parents first took me. Our entire extended family went, and we stayed at Ft. Wilderness. I never thought such a place could exist:cloud9:, and that memory really sticks in my head even today. I walk through the the castle, and I can remember holding both of my grandfather's hands. I see SM and laugh at the thought of my cousin getting so scared and not wanting to ride it. So on and so forth. The MK, and all of Disney, is magic for me:thumbsup:

It was 1990. I was 26 and DW was 25. We took our 4 yr old niece. I will always remember that first time driving onto the property. They used to have a :mickey: gradually appearing with each sign you drove under. We told our niece we were visiting an old friend and she was sooo excited when she realized who that friend was.
DW had wanted to go since she was little so when we drove onto the property she started to cry tears of joy.

We had made a trip to Disney in 1998 when someone gave us a week in their timeshare. Our son was only 1 so we decided to save MK for a future trip.

I never thought much about going back but our Make a Wish trip in 2003 changed that!

March 1988, I'd just turned 11 the previous month. We were supposed to go to Germany that March, but my mom (who was 36 at the time) got chickenpox. So my dad went to Germany for biz as planned, and instead of going with him, we met him in Orlando.

My mom and I went over 4th of July just before I left for a year abroad as an exchange student.

The fabulous fireworks.

In 1985 when I was 3 and my biggest memory is chasing Goofy down for an autograph! Then we moved and my sis was born so I didn't get to go again until I was 8 and she was 2 in 1990 and I got to get out of school 2 days early (major bragging rights!) After that we went almost every year until 1996 when Mom's health got to the point she couldn't take the trip. It was a long time until my sis and I went this Feb when I was 25! Of course until this last trip we only stayed off-property and ate one TS meal (always in Epcot) without characters but I still have great memories of all those trips.

November 2001... right after 9-11. We were looking for a way to get my (then) 6 year old DD away from the news and all of the bad things on TV.
It was my first trip and I was 38. The sad thing is that we lived in Miami when Disney World opened. We just did not have to money to take a family of 5 to the park. Oh well, I think I have made up for it by buying into DVC!

I was 12 years old in 1977. My father booked us on a bus trip from NYC to Orlando. It was a group tour and yes, it was as bad as it sounds! We drove and drove, stayed in crummy motels, and had 2 days in the MK before we turned around again. I remember the sky buckets vividly, my Dad was trying to rock ours..I remember feeling afraid..and I remember the 20,000 leagues under the sea, feeling like we were really deep under water..(what were we? down like 3 feet??) I also got my first WDW t-shirt, white with Mickey. My Mom saved it all of these years for me, and now my DD wears it as a sleep shirt.

Oh, this is sad, because I can't remember! I know we were on one of those tour vacations, where you got three days for MK and two free days for "Wet & Wild" or "Sea World", Epcot wasn't open yet, still being built. You needed three days for MK because it was soooooo crowded, and fastpass hadn't been invented yet! There was only one "mountain" Space mountain and it was the hottest ride, with two hour waits. I remember wanting to live in one of the "upstairs apartments" on main street!

It was the Summer of 1972 and I was 12. We stayed in the Polynesian Hotel and watched the light show on the lagoon from our hotel. I was smitten from the get-go; I still remember the overwhelming emotion I felt seeing the Main Street Electrical Parade for the 1st time, and I get that feeling today when I see its current incarnation. I went for the first time to WDW in 1983. I would have been almost 9 years old. I remember going the first of June and I missed the last few days of school. It was really hot and we stayed off-site. Also, my mom took sandwiches inside the park, so we didn't eat at all in the park resturants. My favorite rides were Mr. Toads Wild Ride and Space Mountain.
I know this is a weird thing to remember, but my dad worked at Coca-Cola at the time and I remember my mom had us all matching Coke is it and Sprite shirts to wear. I hated those shirts!

My family loves Disney, starting with my parents going to DL for their first time in 1967 for their honeymoon, and they even went back in Oct 1977 (without my brother and I :() for their 10th anniversary. My husband and I went to DL for our honeymoon (even though I had just been there six months earlier!) and my brother and sister-in-law went to WDW for their honeymoon in 1994 (their first trip). I was born Jan 1973 and had my first WDW trip in March! We stayed at the contemporary (Of course I remember the experience Hahaha:)).

We went almost every year growing up until I was in my early 20's, then DH and I started going 2 times a year and lately we have been 3 times a year.

Even though we have been so many times I just love it and never tire of it. DH has been talking crazy lately about going some where different (I never really knew there were other places to travel;)), anyway, last night over dinner he starts going on about how he has been thinking of Disney lately and we need to start planning our next trip!! Yeah!!! When we go next there will have been a year since we were last there, but with work we just can't get there earlier.

A few minutes ago as we were tucking DS4 in, he asked to see the Birnbaums. He pulled out the map and says "Daddy, see here....mommy wants to stay at hotel #1" Hotel #1 is GF....I have my boy trained so well!!!!! Now if only I really could get the chance to stay there.

My first trip was truly magical: it was my honeymoon. :wine::bride:
I was 29 and hubby was 30. He'd been numerous times before and had been to Tokyo Disneyland several times (his mom's family are in Japan).

I was sooo terrified to get on the plane, but was so glad I went! I fell in love wiht Disney the moment I set foot in the park! Being someone who loves good food, I was :cloud9:

I have been lucky enough to get a job where I get to go and cover a Disney related event at one of the parks yearly! :cheer: So, hubby and I will be Disney visitors for a looong time!

1st trip to the World:
June 18-25, 2006 honeymoon land and sea
1st trip to the Land:
Aug. 22-26 off-site, followed by three days in Vegas!
2nd trip to the World:

First for me and DH was 1980 on college spring break. We weren't married- or even dating at the time. A group of 9 of us drove from Purdue to Sanibel Island (2 cars). Then toward the end of the week, we were going to see a friend of one of the girls in Daytona- so we planned a day in Disney. Just the MK then. All I really remember was riding Space Mt and BTMRR over and over and over...!
Didn't get back until 1992 with our 2 kids (18mo and 3 yrs)- another one day only in the MK while passing through the area.
It was on the 1992 visit that we got hooked and planned a full week at the Poly for the following fall.
The rest is history!!! :mickey:

I went with my family in the 70s, don't remember exactly what year. We stayed at one of the hotels near what is now Downtown Disney.

I went back with my mother in 1982 after Epcot opened and we stayed off-site.

It took another 20 years before I went back in 2002 and have been back every year except 2004 when I went over to Disneyland Paris.

Since then, I've had many, many trips to the Happiest Place on Earth!! :cloud9: And much, much more to come too!! :mickey:

First trip was in 1983 for my HS graduation. Epcot had just opened a few months earlier and I absolutely loved it. Went back again in 1988 for college graduation with just my brother and me. Tried to drink a beer in every country of the WS, but started to get too intoxicated and too poor to finish.

Didn't get back for almost 20 years, but after DW, DD and I went last year we were hooked. Taking DD2 with us this time and hope he'll be ok.

we stayed at the Contemporary Hotel. I didnt know the word "Contemporary"

I thought it was called the Temporary Hotel. Figuring it was only there until another hotel was finished.

I remember eating dinner one night in the restaurant and seeing the monorails going thru the hotel as we ate. I had a PB&J that night

Loved the Haunted Mansion

I remember the If You Had Wings ride from back then

The Christmas tree was up and it had gigantic balls on it. Dont remember crowds or prices as I was only 6

I was 17 years old and I hated it. Was never going back. The people I were with "villianous" people. I remember calling my parents hoping that they could bump my flight up one day so I could go home. The trip was awful.

I was only 6 months old in June 1981 when I first visited the MK. I was literally a Disney baby. I'm not exactly sure why my parents decided to visit when I was so young, but I suspect that they just couldn't keep themselves away since they both enjoy WDW quite a lot. I really didn't have any other choice except to be a WDW addict given my early start. It has been ingrained in me practically my whole life. I'm not complaining though.:mickey:

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but my first visit was sometime between 1983 (9) and 1986 (12). I distinctly remember my first visit was soon after Epcot opened (and it was still called EPCOT Center). I remember going on Horizons and World of Motion, and visiting Communicore. I also remember seeing Captain EO. Truth be told, we did make a yearly visit for several years about that time, so I'm probably remembering parts of individual trips. Sadly, we stopped going around 1987, as my parents divorced.

I was then able to finally return in 2005 (31) with my wife, and then again with my kids (3, 7, 10) in 2007. If all goes well, we'll be back next year :)

Funny I should see this thread today. As I mentioned before a while back, I am going to be getting a slide to digital picture converter and some of those slides include photos from my first trip to Disney so I was discussing it with my wife this past weekend.

My first trip to Disney was October 1976. I was five years old and would be six in December. We stayed as the Golf Resort due to my dad's grand idea of being able to play golf when there. Of course, that never happened. :mickey:
