Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes! It helped make a bad day much better and it's wonderful to know just how many people here care. You guys are great friends! I got some great gifts from my family, including an Ariel garden statue, the Jaws game for PS2 (courtesy of my youngest DD who insisted I needed that because I like the Jaws movies), and 2 new Pens t-shirts (well, one I bought for myself but that counts right?). Unfortunately, we had to put our 14 yo kitty down yesterday - she threw a thrombus in her aorta and lost all circulation to her back half - she couldn't walk and was in a lot of pain. The vet gave us very little hope and said even if she did survive it, she may never walk again and it would almost definately happen again. We couldn't let her suffer like that. We miss her so much.

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. That is hard to take any day, but really sad to have happen on your birthday. I know she will leave a big hole in your heart, but I hope it fills back up soon with good memories of her. :hug:

I'm so sorry Kathy. The loss of a pet is horrible. Take comfort in knowing you did what's best for your cat and your family. I've been there and its a horrible thing to do. Some people don't understand but after 12 years (14 for you), these are little cat-people who are definately part of your family and your heart. I haven't been able to "replace" our big boy yet. Some people do feel better after they adopt again. When you feel up to it, go over to the North Side to Animal Friends and visit!

Eventually, we will get another cat but for now we still have our "old man". Gypsy is 17 and most likely wouldn't like a new kitty friend. Besides, he still has the dog to torment.

First off, I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I can only imagine how hard it was. I know how attached I am to my puppy Beaux. My heart goes out to you, your husband and your girls. Second, sorry I am a day late with HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Sounds like you received great presents. Maybe we can have a virtual party. :marg:
