Said something to make you laugh

After riding a ride, has your kids (or any other person) said something that just made you laugh?
My DD (6 yrs) rode ToT for the first time with me. After the first drop, her fingernails were digging into my arm and she just looked straight ahead :eyes:. When we finally stopped, ready to get off, I asked her “what did you think?” With the fear of God in her eyes, without crying, she calmly said “daddy, I did not like that and I never want to ride that again.” It may not sound very funny written out, but the look on her face and the calm tone in which she said it was hilarious:laughing:! :mickey:

My family and my best friend's family all went on a trip together in 2005. My sister, my niece (then 16), my friend, my friend's wife, and their 8 year old son went on the Maelstrom ride. My mom and I went on the ride in Mexico.

So we're cruising along in our little boat, relaxing, looking at the cool stuff going on, we get out, get a drink, relax on a bench waiting for the rest of the gang...who finally come along, tears STREAMING they were laughing so hard. MASS CHAOS.

"What's going on?"

Turns out, at the point where it looks like the boat is going to fall out the side of the building? My niece starts FREAKING out, yelling "OH MY GAWD, WE'RE GONNA DIE!"

My sister said nobody on the ride could remember the rest because they were busy laughing at HER.

My 7 year old son kept yelling at the top of his lungs "California, here we come!!" every time we'd down a hill or around a corner on BTMRR. Not sure what his comment had to do with the ride but it had everyone within six rows laughing hysterically!

:D My son was 11 on our last trip and we went during Christmas...we were at MK when the Christmas parade was going on and one of those pink hippos with the pink tutus came up and gave him a kiss, he was so embarassed he just froze...of course, we were all laughing at him.....

My family doesn't do thrill rides, so when my DD was 15 and she asked to ride Splash Mountain, I was surprised. I don't mind thrill rides, so I went with her. As we made the climb right before the drop, she looks at me and says "I can't do this!!". I laughed and said "too late!" right as we plummetted down the 5 story drop. By the time she screamed, it was all over. She thought it was great, but has never gone back on it again!

OK so my funny comment was during the drop on TOT. I was so worried about my DD9 being too scared that I did not expect me to be so scared. As we were dropping I said to her in between screams "Are you ok"? She looked over at me and said "Mommy I don't know if you are ok." :blush:I guess I looked as bad as I felt. I now know that I don't do well with drops. My legs were shakey for an hour after I got off and she was totally fine. I told DH it is his turn to take her on next time.

on our first family trip to disney with my niece. (now 12, then 5) we taped our entire trip and after big thunder mountain we recorded asking Mattie what she thought of the ride and i remember what she said exactly

she was wearing pluto ears that were falling off and a little sundress and she put her hand on her tummy and said in a sad little voice"it hurt my bellwy.."

When DS was 3 we took him to HM, he was very quiet when I realized that he had his hands covering his eyes. I talked to him and explained that it was all make believe and that he was safe. Eventually I was able to pry his fingers off his eyes and he was fine until the car spun around and the ghost was sitting in the seat with us!! He totally freaked out. 2 days later we were over on Tom Sawyer island and just starting into a cave when he heard the sounds from the HM. He stopped dead in his tracks and with a look of total fear and defiance told us "I am not going back, I TOLD YOU NO and that's final!!!!!" We couldn't get him to take another step on that island, could not convince him that the HM was across the water!! It was so funny!!!

We were on Big Thunder Mountain sitting behind an older couple. As we went up a hill the man kept shouting "You sure can feel the elevation here!" I have no idea what he meant but it has become a family joke whenever we encounter a little rise in the road.

I have 2 funny stories. When we went as kids, I was 12 and my brother was about 6. He was terrified of all roller coasters :scared:, but would go on as long as my dad covered his eyes. The ENTIRE ride on BTMR he kept screaming "Don't you take your hands off my eyes!!" I spent the whole ride turned around laughing at him. The other time was this past December we were watching the 3 o'clock parade in MK and this beautiful little girl next to me saw a float coming with Mickey and his friends and started screaming "Tom & Jerry, Tom & Jerry!!" It was really cute and I thought is was funny. Totally the wrong mouse, but very cute.:mickey2:

that is soooo not her type of ride :ack: so she was deff. not pleased with being jerked around in the dark with HUGE massive life-like dinosaurs staring right at you... :ill: :secret:

and when we got out she said "I thought we were going to go take a quite ride and watch the dinosaurs Peacefully.. Imagine My Surprise!!" haha I lost it completely not to mention mom had her camera around her neck and it slapped her in the face a few times...

also hahah mom made a rule that "if the ride has a height requirement and seatbelt... I wont do it" hahaha :funny::funny::funny:

When we took my parents to DLR in 2004, my dad rode TOT with me. He was 56 at the time. When it was over, he wiped tears from his eyes, put his glasses back on and very matter-of-factly said, "No need to do that again."

I went to Disneyland Paris with my mom in 1998. Indiana Jones is a roller coaster with an inversion there. Just as we were boarding the ride, my mom saw another train go through the loop. She stepped off the train and said, "Um, no. I'll be over there."

My grandmother-in-law had a similar misconception about Dinosaur even though I'm pretty sure we described the ride to her before we got on it.

I was on Tower of Terror a few years ago with several college basketball players. It was obvious that none of them had ever ridden it before. When we got to the part where the elevator moves forward, one of them yells, "Elevators aren't supposed to move forward!" The panic in his voice was sincere, and it was quite amusing to see a group of college basketball players so frightened of the ride.

Mine is of DD 8 and it also involves TOT.
She went on TOT in 2005 and said it gave her too much of a gushy feeling so she told me and dh she never wanted to ride that one again. When we went again last September, DH and I were going to get in line for TOT and she said " Well I am 8 now so I might like it now and I am NOT a fraidy cat you know" so all three of us get in the line for the ride. First drop comes and she has a death grip on my arm screaming at me " Mommy why did you let me come on this ride again I told you I never wanted to go on it again!" I was in tears laughing at that one.

Now we are going again in September and my sons friend who is 14 is coming... DD8 (will be 9 on trip) has a HUGE crush on DS friend.... we asked her " What if Camron wants to go on TOT are you going to go" she says " Of course I am...and I can grab his arm instead of yours."

When my son was 3, we were on, of all rides, the great movie ride. He was really enjoying it until the alien jumped out at us. He just said in this calm voice. "That was NOT cool." It was the tone of his voice that just cracked us up.

Then on a recent trip, we were on BTMRR which he loves, and there was this large group of teenaged boys in front of us. He got this worried look on his face and started pulling on my sleeve and pointing at the seat saying "They breaking the rules, they're breaking the rules!" he really sounded paniced, and I couldn't figure out what he meant, until I realized he was pointing at the picture of the people with their arms out of the car." He didn't like that the guys in front of us had their arms in the air! I explained you could stick them up but not out of the sides (best I could come up with while being jerked around the ride). He tentively stuck his arms up, then quicly dropped them again.

Another funny time was when my two young daughters were comforting two teenaged boys in line for Mission Space.

Ah, TOT. So many of us have great moments involving this ride. My DD (then 5) loves TOT. It's her favorite ride. Well, she had been on it several times and we were riding it one last time for the night. But it malfunctioned and it stopped and the lights were on. We were all just sitting there, not knowing what was going to happen. Were we going to drop, are the doors going to open, what's going on here? Most of us on the elevator were beginning to get tense. And she sits there with her arms folded across her chest and says "Well, this is boring." The littlest one on the ride and she cracked us all up.

When my youngest was 10 we went on Mission Space for the first time. I was a little worried, having heard about different people's reactions, so we went on the non-spinning one.

We went on, it was great, and as we came off the ride she said "Is that it?"

Needless to say we went on the spinning version next.

It wasn't something said, but the first time that my little brother (I guess about 7 at the time) went on TOT, he came off of the ride and was just shaking! My dad took him to the bathroom and my little brother had a sweater tied around his waist, well he was shaking so much that he couldn't get the sweater untied, my dad had to help him, poor thing! Something that I will always remember!

TOT, September 2003 on our Honeymoon. And it was not said by my husband or I.

We were in the TOT line behind a father and son.. he must have been about 6 years old..DH and I were smiling... thinking "Someday we will have kids and bring them here"... any how were were kind of listening to them talking, because it was cute.. The little boy was so cute "Daddy, what is that?"..." When are we going to have lunch?" holding his Dad's hand.. and ust regular questions...no sense of nervousness at all. Then all of a sudden the little boy just STOPPED... grabbed his Dad's hand and said in total earnestness.. "Daddy, are we gonna DIE??" Fortunately his father was smart enough to sense his sons sudden fear, and handled it perfectly, explaining it was just a ride and he didn't have to go if he didn't want to... (Which was SO nice to see...) My husband and I just about laughed out loud when the little boy said that... but didnt because the boy was so cute, and such sudden seriousness!

But to this day... when my husband and I want to crack each other up... we just stop, grab the other's hand... and say "Daddy... are we gonna DIE???

and BTW... we were back Sept 2007... with our 2 girls... So our Norman Rockwell Disney picture came true!

The first one that came to mind was courtesy of my mom. This was a couple of years ago, not terribly long after EE opened. My mom generally doesn't like roller coasters or thrill rides (but ToT is her favorite ride in the parks, go figure). She agreed to go on EE with all of us after my dad, brother, and I assured her it wasn't that bad. My brother and I were riding behind her and dad and were a bit concerned that she wasn't even screaming bloody murder like she normally does. At the end of the ride, we asked her how she liked it, and she predictably swore she'd never again go on it, but she was glad she had done it. I asked her what she thought of the giant Yeti at the end of the ride. She then gave me this puzzled look and asked "What Yeti?" :D

Ends up she had her eyes closed almost the whole time, even after I had specifically warned her before the ride that it was there.

Even better, I later on found out that my dad had done the exact same thing.

As a little girl, my daughter rode both Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror too young. Both scared the bejeebers out of her and she was just ruined for big rides for several years. When she was about 8 she started to yearn to ride the thrill rides, but she was still very scared. She decided that she wanted to ride Rock and Roller Coaster. As all of you know that have ridden it, it packs quite a thrill punch with that amazing take off. I tried to look at her throughout the ride, but that is no easy task on that fast ride. As we came into the tunnel leading to the exit point I finally got my first good look at her. She was wild eyed and I knew she had been really scared. Under the black lights she had all these little dots glowing on her face. (I found out later it was little drops of the "ink" they use in the handstamps that she must have touched to her face at some point) I thought maybe she had thrown up and I asked her if she had. She looked at me, still shell shocked, and said " I don't know. Did I? " We still laugh about that. She is now 17 and RnR is one of her favorites which we often ride four or five times in a row early in the morning. But no matter how old she gets, or how often we ride it, I always see my little 8 year old in my mind when we hit that tunnel. It is so funny the things that become such an unforgetable memory.

Not really something anyone said but....
A few years ago, my dad and I were doing our traditional ride on ToT and behind us in line was another father/son pair. Except where I was in my early thirties and my dad in his early 60's, the son behind us was about 8 or so. The father kept asking the son if he was sure he wasn't going to scared and be alright.. I mean constantly. After the ride we went to check out the photo... there in the front row is the father and son. The boy is just looking up at his dad and the dad is gripping the lap bar, wide-eyed, screaming his lungs out... It is one of the funniest pictures we have from Disney.

We were standing waiting to ride Dinosaur and my DS decides he wants to not ride...We talk him into it and he is very leery of it...When we get on and start to move forward he breaks down but its too late to get off...All the way thru the ride he is screaming and crying and trying to climb in behind me...When we get off his legs are wobbly and he says with the most fear in his face that I have ever seen and his voice shaking " Can we go on it again?" I thought at that point that he was traumatized to the point of no return...When we got to the gift shop he completly changed and said that the ride was a baby ride...Go figure...

My mom coming off of Mission: Space. The most intense rides she had ever rode in her life up to that point were the 'Mountains'. For some reason, she decided she was going to try MS. Not the tame version either. Me and My BIL were waiting outside the gift shop with the kids and when she came out the door, she looked at us (she was various shades of red and green!) and said "Well, guess I can cancel that appt for Botox! Now take me to Mexico and get me a Margarita!" We all laughed out booties off at her.
