For all those who have been on the new Space Ship Earth, does Rome still burn? If so does it still have the same smell?

Yep, it's still burnin'! Still smells the same, too!
That's always been one of my favorite parts!

Even though they redid the section they kept the burning and the smell. So no worries.

I kind of miss the little horse running in the background though.

So I wonder what it is about that burning smell that so many of us like? Add me to the list of those who like that smell. Could it be that rather than reminding us of the destruction of Rome that it really reminds us of campfires? I don't know, I am just musing about the idea!

Yeah!:yay: I haven't noticed anyone talking about it lately and was beginning to get worried!

I think the reason I am drawn to it is because it reminds me of SpaceShip Earth/ EPCOT/WDW! If I smell something similar here, I think of WDW.:minnie:

Yeppers! Still smells like burnt beef jerky! :)
And alas, no running chariot...I guess "all roads DON'T lead to Rome anymore"

I guess I'm in the minority here when it comes to that smell. I do not like it at all. I always hold my nose before we even get close so I don't have to smell it. It kind of makes my nose hairs burn.

Yea I miss this also, but am glad to report Rome still burns and smells the same. One of my favorite sections of the ride. Does anyone know how high up the ride you actually go (in feet). Just thinking it is probably the tallest, not thrill, ride in the parks.

Wow. I totally missed that last time.

Does anything else smell on the ride? (I mean, besides possible fellow riders :D )

I miss the horse and rider too!

Now with the new narration the burning and the library all make better sense now. At least it does to me...maybe I had dozed off before.;)

isn't it amazing how strongly people feel about the smell of rome burning. i guess it's just another great disney memory that you can't get anywhere else because i feel exactly the same way. i'm glad it's still there.

I was there May 3rd, and looked for that poor paper boy who wasn't allowed to face us anymore, and he was GONE! What's up with that?
