SSR and Grand Floridian

We are thinking of staying at the Grand Floridian in 2010. My question is can I make reservations with my points @ SSR and also try for the Grand Floridian. I guess I'm trying to have a backup plan if I can't get the Grand Floridian I'd atleast have a room at SSR. I'm thinking I have to put my points out in the exchange thing and wait for a room at the GF, so if I have to do that then I won't have points to reserver a room at SSR.

I'm probably confused and don't know what I'm talking about can someone help me, please?

If you want to reserve the GF- call at 11 months and reserve the GF.
If there is no availability- then take SSR.

There is a charge ($95, non-refundable) for reserving outside the DVC resorts now.
