These 2 choices are our favorite character breakfasts. Our family of four (2 boys, 14 & 11) love to go to both places. My wife loves Pooh & friends who are at CP, but I like Donald's, because it's the only character breakfast I know of where you get the original big 4 classic Disney characters all at the same meal, Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. The food at is relatively the same at both places (there may be one or two items that are different) and there are plenty of items to choose from at both buffets besides egg dishes.
PLUS, Both give you the opportunity to get an early ADR time before park opening so when you finish breakfast you'll already be in the park before the crowds get in. When we ate at Donald's last time (it was in Dinoland then) a CM escorted the diners who had finished eating to Expedition Everest before park opening so that we got to ride EE several times before the standby line had any wait time. At MK you can get a head start to Splash Mountain or other attraction ahead of the crowds also. Get the earliest possible ADR to do this.
I would choose which breakfast to go to based on which characters you preferred and which park you wanted to visit that day. The breakfasts themselves are pretty much the same.

Keep in mind two adults did the character breakfast at Crystal Palace. But it was a blast. We got Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet. There's a little parade that they do with all the children around the restaurant and have the parents wave napkins. It was super-duper cute!

As for the food, there were the mini-Mickey waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, corn beef hash, a corn beef fritatta (was excellent!!), various fruit, yogurt, breads, muffins, cereals, and juice and beverage options. On the kids dining area, there was a breakfast pizza, and Pooh's Puffed French Toast (I went back for three servings). It was soooo good! Like a beignet, but granulated sugar instead of powder.

I enjoyed it immensely and all the kids around me were so adorable!! :mickey:

I'd probably recommend The Crystal Palace. The food is similar at both, but I love the atmosphere and the fanfare of the Magic Kingdom.

I'd do Donald instead of the CP. We did both last year and the interaction with Donald and the gang was by far better than CP with Pooh. The food even tasted better. And if you do a early ADR when you're finished you do get escorted to EE and we were the 1st on the ride that morning. It was a blast

We do both each time. They are both great. All depends on which characters you want to see.

We did both Donald's and CP on our last trip and we all thought the characters were better at Donald's but the food was much, much better at CP.

Don't worry. It was a can't-lose situation. You're going to WDW, and that's great. The Crystal Palace is very nice. And for now for some history: it is actually shaped like a giant greenhouse that existed in London in the early 20th century. It was constructed to look like a giant greenhouse, but was used primarily as an exhibition hall. Portions of it were used to develop new species of plants, including a variation of lobelia (an annual groundcover with flowers) that was a deep blue. It was called...wait for it...Crystal Palace, and can be bought today at any Home Depot. My front yard is full of it.
