Is it easy to get a notary to witness your signature in the US? In the UK it is very uncommon and very expensive - about $200 per signature. I have 3 lots of declines to get done with two signatures on each. I have no intention of paying that kind of money to get it done so I am going to bring the paperwork with me next week. Tell me it is going to be much easier to do over there (even if I can't manage my first choice of getting the Disney sales office to do it)

Mikki, over here it's extremely easy and very inexpensive. My DW was a notary up in Maryland, and basically all she had to do was check the person's photo ID, sign and stamp the documents, and collect her fee (which I believe was something like $5).

I would check with the DVC office; they just might do it for you for $0.00.

How long are you staying this trip? Perhaps we can meet up!:marg:

Edit: Never mind... I just read your signature line for the dates! D'Oh!! We'll get in touch with you while you're here.

WOW the notary's over there are expensive. There are tons of notary places around here that do it. I don't know about DVC at least here in Texas they shoo'd me off to the lawyer's office down the hall to get it done. I was selling my car and my late husbands name was on it as a co-owner. I had to get someone to notarize the title transfer after seeing the death certificate.

Alas. It was only about $5.00. I know some places even do it free. They'll probably notarize all three for $5.00. I think they just charge $5.00 for the time consideration.

Like everyone else said, finding a Notary is very easy and inexpensive here.
Most lawyer's offices, banks, chamber of commerces, etc, have Notaries.

Both my sister and father are Notaries.

Wow remind me never to get anything notarized in the UK!!:whew:

My employer pays for my notary so I never charge anyone, but I think the maximum fee allowed by law here in Illinois is $1.00

From what I understand we have plenty of people who don't charge for witnessing signatures (bank officials etc etc) and that is fine for UK law. That seems more like what notaries are in the US. Here they are very specialised and very expensive - there are only about 900 in the whole country.
