I dont know if this is the right place for this question but I will ask anyway.

My DH will be taking his walker with skis on it. When we get to LGA he is going to have a wheelchair escort from gate to gate. We are planning to have breakfast. Will the wheelchair escort stop long enough for us to have breakfast & use the restrooms?

Also once we get to MCO will he be escorted from the plane to ME by wheelchair escort too?

Hi,
In my experience, escorts will take you directly to the gate. If you wanna have breakfast do so inside the check point after the escort drops you off, your best bet would be to pick up something and have it at the gate. At MCO, the will take you directly to the Disney Welcoming Center and you will take it from there.
Hope you have a magical trip !
Only 163 days, 2 hours and 1 minute and 45 seconds away from the HAPPIEST place on Earth...;)

I have a wheelchair at the airports for my Mom all the time now. All of the escorts we have had have always stopped at restrooms for us. Many times they ask before we even request a stop. Several times we have had one escort pushing two chairs. They are amazing! We've never stopped for food, but I agree w/ the recommendation of once we get to your gate, pick something up at a kiosk around you. Have a great trip!!

Is the walker given the same treatment as a stroller? That is, will it be checked at the plane's door and returned to you at MCO at the plane's gate? I ask because when you arrive in Orlando, they will take you to DME but not stay with you to wait on line or wait for your bus.

Have a wonderful trip! :mickey:

They told my DH that he can keep the walker at the seat.

Wheelchair escorts will most defintely stop at the restrooms, but the chances are pretty slim they'll stop to allow you to grab breakfast, so take the advice from above and either take something to the airport with you or plan to grab whatever is close to you gate area.

In most instances, walkers are treated as gate claim items, as most will not fit in the overhead compartment. Keep in mind that everything must be stowed during taxi, take-off and landing. (Even canes have to go in the overhead compartment.) Don't worry though, you'll leave it right where you get on the airplane, and get it right back at the same spot when you get off.

Have a great trip! :mickey:
