Has anyone ever eaten here? Every time we've been it seems to be closed, but I hear that it is good. Any comments on the food? And when the heck is this restaurant open?

The restaurant is seasonal. This means it is only opened during very busy time periods (and I believe it is open for the P&P Parties).

I used to have the same problem with it always being closed:(, but it's been open our last two trips in May and I really enjoyed it:thumbsup:. I get a taco salad and you put the toppings on yourself at the toppings bar.

We ate there during the Pirate & Princess Party - the food was awesome. It has never been open any other time we were there. Check out the menu on Intercot - I provided the updated menu in September, so it should still be current.

We have had the same problem! We tried to eat there a few times on our trip last August and No LUCK! We did try during the P&PP but it was closed for us!

We just returned from our Easter break vacation and it was open. Love the taco salad that you can put all the toppings you want on it!

Do you think there is any chance that it will be open the first week of May? That's when we'll be going and we're trying very hard not to repeat any dining experiences. I've heard the food was good here and although my husband is a die hard Cosmic Rays fan, I thought this would be a nice change.

We went during the P&PP last August. I really wasn't that impressed with the food. I ended up not feeling well later on, GI distress. I won't go into details, but I will not be returning.

I remember eating a pretty tasty taco salad there many years ago.

When we arrived at WDW the Sat. evening after Thanksgiving (2007), the Times Guide showed that it had been open earlier that day. It was not open for the rest of our trip, which led us to believe that it must be open during the really busy, peak attendance times.

It was not open during the P&P Party we attended on Jan. 29, 2008, but the park was pretty empty that night.

We have been trying to dine there for years without sucess. Whenever we think of it, it is closed. There must be some sort of schedule somewhere besides the times guide for that particular week. Wouldn't you think they have to plan for staffing?

I really enjoyed eating there when I was a kid. It was a nice alternative to CS burgers and fries.
The only time I have see it open as an adult was when it had that rather unmexican buffet.
Now that it has its usual fare, I hope it will be open when we are there in September!

el pirata is only open for lunch right now 11-4 but they are currently planning on leaving it and the noodle station open until august 23rd :thumbsup:

This is what I heard as well! I'm quite excited to try it at the end of this month.
