Earlier today I was browsing ebay listings under Disney and I was shocked and amazed to see how many ebayers are selling FASTPASS tickets - one selling 3 passes for a starting bid of $99.99

I find it incredible that people will put these free passes up for sale figuring someone is dumb enough to actually pay for them.

Anyway, here is my question: I read somewhere that FASTPASS tickets are not redeemable now for any day other than the day it was issued. You are not necessarily required to go on the ride during the time frame stamped on the ticket, but you cannot save it for another day.

Is this true? Are FASTPASS tickets only good for day of issue?

If that is so, then anyone who buys these passes on ebay is getting 'royally' screwed.

Anyone have information or thoughts on this?

This has been discussed a ton of times. Are those really FastPasses, or something different. My guess is they aren't the normal FastPass you get at a machine. In that case they ARE good for a future date, however, Disney IS cracking down on these and I wouldn't be surprised if the buye was refused admittence to the ride they are attempting to use them on.

My guess is they were FP's issued as a prize for the YOMD.......just as keepsakes...????

Two words:

No thanks:paranoid:

I would rather spend that much $$ on other stuff at Disney than on a FP that may/may not be honored.

Just my :twocents:

I just looked and the one you saw are like the baby swap fast pass because the FP says "rider switch pass" and can be used with up to 3 guests. I don't know why someone would pay $100 when you can get regular FP's for free. As far as I know these "rider switch passes" don't expire, at least there isn't an experation date on the passes. There is also alot of Re-entry passes up for auction too, actually they sell you a plain white envelope and include the passes for free since the re-entry passes say "not for sale".

FastPasses are good only on the date issued, unless the ride is down for the remainder of the day, in which case the Fastpasses might be honored the next day.

Genuine rider switch passes DO have an expiration date, and the dates are looked at by the CMs. In the past year we have been seeing counterfeit rider switch passes. Someone is making them at home and selling them on web sites such as eBay. The CMs have now been trained to spot these bogus passes and will confiscate them. If you are tempted to try to use one, you risk being ejected from the park.

Re-entry passes are different from rider switch passes. The re-entry passes are issued to guests who were waiting in the queue, but were unable to ride for some reason, perhaps because the ride went down. These passes may be genuine, but they also have an expiration date.

Either way, you are probably not getting what you are paying for. Don't fall for a scam!

I'm smarter than the average bear to know better than to bother with these HOWEVER...

I have seen people sell COUPONS on Ebay...maybe not for $99 but the same old coupons out of the sunday paper or printed off the internet.

Let's not forget some lucky ol' gal sold her 10 year old grilled cheeze sandwich that she carefully packed in a plastic box with cotton balls because it had the likeness of the Virgin Mary (personally I really couldn't see it...but then I've been looking for Elvis in my Cinabun). If I'm not mistaken she sold it for something to the tune of $28,000 (That's a nice Disney trip in a delux I'd say). I believe some Casino bought it.

There's LOTS of weird stuff on Ebay and LOTS of people that buy weird things.

I saw it...they are for Splash Mt, BTMRR and SM.

Aren't those the old passes from like 10 years ago?

I try to manufacture some sympathy for the people who get scammed buying these, but I can never quite manage it.

First off, the information about Fastpass is all over the place. If you want to know about it it's there ... you just have to take two seconds to look for it.

Secondly, I see these as people who are trying to leverage money to get around the system.

At the end of it all, while I hold the sellers in contempt, I'm just as contemptful (is that a word??) of the buyers.

Caveat emptor, baby.

Don't go there. It's a scam. FP are given out each day with the date & return time to ride. I've been told that if it's a little past the expired time some of the cm will still honor them just not all it depends on the cm.

I think KATZCTKPT was referring to the fact that the re-entry pass also had a date, which would make it useless, after the fact, as stated by mainstreetjim earlier.......and in fact CM's do "honor" passes with expired time / dates, I've seen it myself.....???? I dunno.....???????

Do re-ride passes expire or can they be used later in the year?

I have 4 re-entry passes for Splash mountian that we got last April when the ride broke down with my wife and kids in line. I am looking at the passes now and they do not have an expiration date on them.

Anybody want to buy them:thedolls:

just kidding about the buying them part. ;)

i had 3 from when we were on Thunder mountain and it broke down- i brought them the next year and they were honored.

But i still wouldn't buy one from ebay-
1.) it could be fake
2.) it would start a bad trend

When I saw that something issued for free was being sold on eBay - what an insult to Disney.

I agree, there are dumb people paying good money for bogus things on eBay. My intention was to inform eBay that these items may be fake, but I wanted to verify what I thought to be true before contacting them. Your feedback was helpful, thanks!

On one note, I did see someone mention about supermarket coupons being sold on eBay even though they are free in the store or newspaper.

We just had a baby boy back in July and I spent $54 purchasing baby formula coupons. We wouldn't be able to compile that many coupons on our own. As a result, we saved $421. So, if you know what you are doing, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Now, we have extra money in the bank for the baby's first trip to WDW.

Have a Magical Day!:mickey:

We have to keep in mind that, since you are here reading this board, you are already better informed than the average WDW visitor.

As I've visited the parks, I'm always surprised at the perception out there that FastPasses aren't free. I've gone near FP machines and at least a couple of times a trip hear people say they can't use them because they aren't included in their ticket. Therefore, I can see how some could get duped into buying them on eBay.

Of course, it isn't legal to sell any Disney admission media on eBay, since all tickets are non-transferable, and I suppose that technically applies to a FastPass (although I sometimes will give mine away if I can't use it)

The FastPass is dated and should only be used on the day it was obtained. Whether you can get away with using it another time probably depends on how closely the CM is looking at it when you present it. They probably look more at the time than the date.

Do re-ride passes expire or can they be used later in the year?:confused:I think they expire eventually, but the dates are probably farther out. Also, many CM's never check dates.

It's on your park maps, at your resorts, in guide books ... if you don't understand how it works that's your fault because it's not like the information is hidden.

I do agree with you, that the FP literature is good. It seems pretty clear to me anyway. The problem is a lot of people don't bother to read it, and I suspect those are the same people buying what is essentially worthless junk on eBay.

I've lambasted a few of the sellers on ebay trying to sell these with shameful messages. Most of the time, they ignore me, but occasionally, they'll reply with a crude message, but it's fun to mess with them. I wish I had a fake account set up to go and "buy" their stuff, but never pay for it, just to force them to the trouble of having to re-list.

I reported one of them this morning as being in violation of ebay's policy. I'll let you know what they say. On this particular sellers site, they were pretty blatant about the passes and how to use them, and boldly stated that Disney will not punish you for using them. Sadly, it's people like these who ruin the magic for the rest of the guests.

Believe it or not, I saw USED wristbands for sale on ebay for the PPP. Someone actually bought them! :shake:
