When you hear that a new attraction is coming to WDW, are you more excited to hear that it'll be a ride (i.e.Toy Story Mania) or a show (i.e. American Idol at the Hollywood Studios)?

For me, I'll take a ride over a show ANYTIME!

I absolutely love the shows, but had to vote for rides...nothing like a great ride!!!!!!!

We're not really big on the shows. I love anything at Disney, of course, but given the choice between them, I will pick rides.

It looks like rides are in the lead right now.
I added my vote to that. I love shows but I love rides more.

I voted for rides, but when it comes to Fantasmic, that'd be a tough call. I LOVE this show...but I'm sure I'd still take an elevator ride in the Hollywood Tower Hotel over Fantasmic! .....just don't tell Mickey I said that :secret:;):mickey:

My wife is big on the shows, I enjoy the rides, my son enjoys either, because we are at Disney. But since my wife does not get on Intercot, and my son is at school, my vote went for the rides.

I love the shows, but there is something about a ride that's just so Disney.

I love the show but I picked the rides. I'm more excited about POTC, HM, RNRC, TOT, etc than any of the shows.

This is a hard call. If it's a new ride like Toy Story Mania vs. a show like American Idol I'd go with ride which is the case this year.

Last year though was a different story. The Nemo & Friends show and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor were both new and both were worth being excited about whereas the only new ride for us was the Nemo ride.

Overall if I had a choice though I would rather see a great new ride over a show more often than not.

 I almost voted for rides on this one, but changed it to either one...the reason, there are a few such as Mickey's Philharmonic, Fantasmic, Legend of the Lion King etc....sometimes a really good show is exciting as the classic rides....

I went with rides because when pressed for time, we skip the shows. Also most rides are good over and over, but shows get too familiar.

It depends to me, I love rides and I love shows. Disney just makes them so amazing:mickey:.... I am excited about the new toy story ride but not about american idol. I am not a fan at all.

Definately a new ride! I always ride everything when I am at a Disney park, but I maybe see a show once or twice (except Alladin musical in DL and 3d shows)

I will never again go to Voyage of the Little Mermaid, the Lion King musical in AK or, perish the thought, High School Musical..

I have never seen Finding Nemo musical so I will definately see that in June! :number1:

I voted show, but only because MK is in desperate need of a show. Plus, I think they need more relaxing stuff. And a show is exactly that. A ride is an assault on every sense for a few minutes - not that it's bad. I just need relaxation on my vacations.:)

As long as it is new AND good, I will appreciate either new rides or new shows.

Easily ride over show. Shows are fine but not our favorite things to do.

I vote ride but if it were a show that was like the tarzan that was at AK that would be great also don't get me wrong i love rides but disney has some great shows also the nemo one is great the flights of wonder i love also and many more but think a ride would probably be first priority

There are a few shows that I would do again, but for most of them, once is good.

This is not the case with rides ! I could do rides again and again, and adain, and...

I actually get more excited over a new attraction because I hope it will draw folks away from my favorites...although I'll check out the new one eventually. i'm psyched that SeaWorld is opening their Aquatica to pull crowds away from Blizzard beach this summer!

to me and dw it really doesn't matter, as long as it is something new thats fine with us, it kind of gets us a little more excited going down to WDW with something new to do. when there isn't much going on as far as new things, then we try to do something a little different on each trip as to make it a little more interesting, in not having the same routine. for example this upcoming trip we'll be heading to different resorts for our breakfests(see 300th post thread on the dining side), as we called it our resort breakfest hunt, anyway this is where we stand on this poll.

I'm either way on this... show or ride... a lot of times, because of height restrictions, I am/will be limited on rides with my DD. And hse loves the shows... But I love a good ride too... so either or... it's DIsney after all!

I voted ride, but then again, I consider things like the Laugh Floor and Phiharmagic a ride. I guess they are a show, but when I think show, I think Indy or Beauty and the Beast.

03-12-2008, 04:55 PM
I had to vote for either, as it all depends....

A well planned & executed ride such as PotC or M:S will certainly beat out almost all shows. However, if you were to offer me a choice such as Stitch vs. Finding Nemo the Musical, the show would win. (Frankly, staring at a test pattern would win over THAT monstrosity :ack: - sorry Stitch lovers.)

even though I love the rides, I like shows more because I gives us a chance to do something together as a family, since we have smaller ones they can't ride all the rides so we split up, DH sides with DD11, DS9, Whle I ride with DS 4

This was a tough one. I voted show over ride taking into consideration Wishes, Illuminations, and Fantasmic. While I love RNR, HTT, POTC, EE, etc... the emotions these shows along with Legend of Lion King, Philharmagic and other shows are just so strong and positive. Disney knows how to make you feel all happy watching a show so you're laughing and crying at the same time! :cloud9:

For me, I'm about the rides. BUT.....if I do a show, it'll only be one of the 3-D shows. I don't care for the singing/dancing shows at all.

When I go to wdw I focus more on rides than shows. There is no doubt that wdw has great shows but they have fantastic rides. I like both but im more excited bout toy story mania than american idol show.

Definitely rides. I enjoy shows, but they just don't get me as excited. Well except for maybe Fantasmic! Disneyland style.

My gut reaction was to vote "rides." But then I made a list of my 10 favorite attractions:

Haunted Mansion
Philharmagic
Tower of Terror
Soarin' (is this a ride or a show? It feels like a ride, so I'll say ride.)
Muppets 3D
Honey I shrunk the Audience
It's Tough to be a bag
Carousel of Progress (again, show or ride? I'd have to say show)
Star Tours
Pirate of the Caribbean

Since I count Carousel of progress as a show, it's a tie.

Unless it's a roller coaster that goes upside down, ride over show. I feel that rides can be enjoyed more times than a show without getting boring. I'd rather ride splash mountain 20 times than see the indiana jones stunt show 20 times.

My only "must see" shows are philharmagic andfantasmic. I have alot more must do rides.

My vote went for the rides. My reasoning is that most shows get 'dated' after a while, rides seem to hold their attraction much longer.

I could care less about an American Idol show. I was really hoping the fad would be fading before too long. I can't believe that Disney is cashing in on this. What will they do if it does finally die out.:mickey:

I love the rides but, there are shows (Festival of the Lion King came to mind immediately) that are my favorite things at WDW too.

I'm happy with a food cart if it is new and in WDW!!!:mickey:
