View Full Version : Why did Night of Joy get moved to DHS?

Just wondering if anybody knew why Night of Joy was moved to DHS? It doesn't seem that there are as many attractions to ride in between listening to concerts.

Maybe too many people complained about MK being closed in the eveings. When we were there last year we found it frustrating to have the park close early so many times and actually missed out on the park our last night because of this.

The Studios has been pretty much becoming a half day park with the exception of people staying for Fantasmic. The MK after hours has been generating huge revenue with P&PP & MNSSHP. So instead of Night of Joy which appeals to a very limited audience it makes more sense to keep the MK free to produce the revnue with additional party dates since these parties have a wide audience.

I'm wondering if Night of Joy is on its way out.

Agreed that DHS, with the exception of Fantasmic, is closer to a half day park than MK. Also, CM's seem to dislike Night of Joy more than other special events, due to the large number of unescorted minors. Maybe they can control the crowd better at DHS.

I noticed that MNSSHP is on Sept 5th as well at MK. looks like two parks will be down for the night if your not going to Night of Joy or MNSSHP.

I'm sure the will offer EMHs at Epcot if this is the case not that I would venture into Epcot with 2 other parks tied up with events.

Ahhhhh...perhaps that's the real bottom line for the move-- a chance to run two money makers at one time!!

WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?!?!?!?

I look forward to this event EVERY year! I go with my church group and now i am sad that we won't go to this anymore. The reason we went to NOJ is because of MK. I have been to HS and it was alright there was just not enought things to do to keep me entertained for the entire visit. I LOVE MK and it is the ONLY park that i MUST go to every time i vist Disney World.
I am SO upset this has happened! :mad: Now i have to go to that awful Rock The Universe and watch as those awful simpsons take away my favorite ride there (Back To The Future) Man! Why did this happen?
When did this happen?

Night of Joy isn't going away. If anything, they might be able to add more acts to the lineup, since DHS has a lot more stages. We went to NOJ in 2007 for the first time, and didn't ride any rides, we just hopped from concert to concert and had a great time.

Even though I'll miss the concert in front of the castle, it will still be fun.

We have A LOT of problems with Night of Joy, particularly theft and behavior issues. A lot of the youth groups involved will try to do naughty things, such as flash the cameras at Splash, overly rude to our character friends and try to steal.

Honestly, for an event that's supposed to be for religious purposes, I've never been so disgusted in the majority of people that attend it for their hypocracy.

agreed... i went once in high school and i will never EVER go back. i was so disgusted by how a lot of these kids were acting, and how their chaperones were just letting it go. the kids should be setting examples of what the concerts were for... ugh.
