At the MK yesterday we rode Pirates of the Caribbean. When we reached the part in the right hand line where you are about to reach the last turns till the ramp you go down to board the ride boats everything stopped. At this spot there is an opening and you can watch the loading and launching area. We became aware of the fact that no boats were moving and one had stopped past the boarding area but appeared to be stuck. We watched as two announcements were made of technicle difficulties. After about ten minutes a technician and a couple other cast members came down and walked to the front of the boat that seemed to be stuck.

We watched as these people had the passengers raise both hands over their heads. then they all leaned to the left, then to the right. Keeping up with this until the boat was rocking. then the cast members used their feet to push the boat back on the track and the boat floated off. It was really funny looking. So much for High Technology! The ride continued on and we had a great time watching the whole process.:pirate:

What have you all witnessed when rides have problems?

....even the most high-tech device can use a bit of brute force sometimes!!!!

that happens more often then you'd think! Cast members have waiders in the back and ask any of them how many times they go push a boat in a week, the number will shock you

Reminds me of the definition of one my new phrases for the year:
Percussive Maintenance - The fine art of wacking the fool out of something to achieve desired results.

Have broken down twice of Peter Pan, once in WDW and once in DLRP- for the latter we actually had to be winched to a platform and walked off the ride round the back with all the dustbins! For thw former they just put all the lights on and we got moving again eventually. Did ruin the magic a bit though as a cat member came walking between the various hills of neverland to see if we were OK!

I've been stuck on the HM (several times), Buzzlightyear once, and The Great Movie Ride once. We actually had to walk off the GMR. We had to wait until Castmembers opened the doors on our cars and then we just followed the crowd of people to the exit. It was kind of weird.

So did it feel like you were actually in the movie set..? :D

I got stuck on splash. I was one 'boat' back from the exit. I was told they were rebooting the system. I could not get out of the boat, and they asked me to stay seated. I could see the exit, the boat in front of me was allowed to get out. but I was told it was not safe where my boat was at. I was younger, Splash had just opened, and I just remember that it seemed like FOREVER, but it probably was a relatively short period of time. (15 -20min hearing the same loop of music is kinda boring though!) We chatted with everyone around us, including a CM or two...they finally shut down the music, which made everyone cheer! Then the ride started back up and we all got off.

That was my only experience with a ride shutting down while I was on it.
