I need a little pixie dust please....
Since I can not get over there for a quick visit due to finances (out on loa again) I am missing my happy place VERY MUCH.

I am having a horrible fybro flare up... one so bad that I am now seeing a therapist in additions to the RA specialist and the orthapedic doctor. I can not sleep at night and the pain in excruciating. It is like trying to find out who came first, the chicken or the egg.
They do not know if I can not sleep because the pain is so bad or if I am in pain because I am not sleeping.

Iast night I went for a sleep study. I don't know what that wiii do, but knowing where it is starting might help in the treatment.

Wish my luck,,, and maybe a little prayer or 2. I really need it right now.

I’m sorry you are having such a hard time right now. God loves you very much and He’s never stopped healing people. I prayed for you, as many others have, even if they didn’t write a message, PRAYER CHANGES THINGS, hang in there, Proverbs 3:24 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=24&chapter=3&verse=24&version=31&context=verse)
when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet

Angel it's very simple... the EGG came first. Genetic mutation occurs at the egg level so it's the egg that changed not the chicken.... so now that all your problems with this chicken vs. egg thing are solved I hope you can get some rest!
Remember too that humor is your friend and you do have a great sense of humor .
Seriously though I will keep you, my special friend, in my prayers and sending :pixie: to help you recover.
I am so glad you are going to therapy for your fibro -- I wish other ppl would but I don't talk about my sister on Intercot
It's true there is a very large "mental" component to Fibromyalgia. Does that mean the pain is in your head? no-- but it does mean your stress is causing you pain. I have more to say but I'll PM that...
If there is anything I can do to help please let me know. :pixie:

Thanks guys.
I am hoping I get the results of the sleep study soon, I am about to lose my mind. (what is left of it) The problem is that I did not sleep well the night of the sleep study and they are telling me now that I might not have slept enough to get conclusive results.... well, if I could sleep any better I would not have gone to see them!!!

The therapist is trying to help me with meditation. Since I am so against going to a pain management clinic, my RA doctor is hoping that I will be able to cope with the pain this way. My therapist is great, but it will take me a while to learn to be honest.
For those of you that have a cronic illness you will know what I mean.... It is hard to be honest when someone says "how are you feeling?" I am so used to saying "okay" .... the problem is that she does not want to hear "okay", she wants the truth. Being open and honest about the health issues that haunt me is scary. When I start to open up a flood of emotions comes over me that I am not ready to deal with... I did not even know they were there.

Wish me luck with this.

Beth, If you still want to bring your dad to Disney World I will go. I can help him and you can be my therapist. ;)

Angel, I'm sorry that you've been having so many health issues lately. I know that stress can play a big part in fibro flares and create a vicious cycle. I hope the meditation and therapy help soon and you don't have to go on those pain meds you want to avoid.

Angel, I hear you! If you went to WDW w/ my dad you really would need therapy after that:blush: or you'll be in a couple more years!
I can take you and we can do hypnotherapy. Angel you are getting sleepy... see that's all you need. (more hypno...) Angel you think you are in WDW ... there cured:thedolls:.
Seriously... I swear by hypnotherapy with pain.

I really feel for you. Not having enough sleep really can make you feel like you're losing your mind. Letting all those feelings out in a safe place may be exactly what helps you to sleep. Have courage! You may want to try drawing with pastels or messy paints. Try filling a circle with colors representing your pain and emotions and use soothing colors to represent sleep. Just go with the flow and don't censor or try to make it look nice. Even gentle finger painting. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I have suffered from insomnia and chronic migraines and drawing a mandala once eradicated my migraine that had lasted 5 days. It can't hurt. In the meantime, lots and lots of :tink::tink::tink: to you.

What is hypnotherapy? I have never heard of it. I am willing to try anything. Lisa (piratescove) was kind enough to send me an email with some prayer verses and suggestions. (thank you Lisa) I am thinking about accupuncture rught now. I do not want to stay on the meds.

:pixie: I'm sorry to hear you're having health issues. My mom has been managing the same things for years, I know how difficult it can be. God Bless.

hypnosis is used in therapy w/ "deep relaxation" (real deep) and you visualize the release of pain. The mind is very powerful and can produce endorphins to naturally help with pain. Some therapist are trained in it and some are not and some people are good candidates for it and some are not. (this is were we pull out you have to want to change line).
I used it to get rid of Migraines back when I had all that drama. Sometimes you can find some great relaxation tapes that will work the same.
And for meds... Do you go to the dentist w/o Novocaine? Sometimes we need meds and you have the personality and strength to avoid addictive behaviors. Many drugs are good for you and only temporary. Don't be afraid of them , just use them wisely!
