When the Frontierland Shootin' Gallery first opened, the rifles fired real lead pellets at the targets. However, they were soon refitted to shoot beams of light. This was because the lead pellets chipped the paint off the props in the attraction and Disney maintenance personnel had to repaint the attraction every night. Over the course of a year, that took over 2,000 gallons of paint!
