is it really worth it? I have a 4 year old, we're staying 6 nights/7 days. Do I really need to do this, or should I skip it? We're going to be there for the 4/16 one, so what do you think is a must or a bust?

TIA

I think it is worth it. I have done 3 of them, and have had a lot of fun.

Yes, go! I went once in August and enjoyed it so much that I got tickets for another night during my vacation.

Some of the best parts:
-the fireworks!
-the short lines for the rides (almost everything was a walk on; longest I waited was 10 minutes)
-the parade
-the dance parties (for kids)
-the treasure hunting

I think you will enjoy it. Many people also dress up as a pirate or a princess.

Ok thanks, now to talk the rest of our party into it;)

I think it would depend on your 4-year-old. Does he/she get tired pretty early? I don't think the price of the admission is worth it if you're only going to be there an hour or so. The fireworks and the parade are great though, and you can't beat the ride lines. I absolutely loved seeing all the little ones dressed up as princesses or pirates. :D

we went on the 21st and my newly 3 year old loved it. she had the best time at the dance parties and watching the fireworks. we are going back tomorrow night. the lines can't be beat (walk on to virtually everything). my emmy is a total night owl and would stay up until 3am every night if i would let her, so she has the energy and stamina to last until midnight and beyond. so if you think your DD can last that late, definitely go for it!

I have to agree that as long as the little ones are up for it, the party is a must. We went on the 14th and loved it! The fireworks were amazing and we enjoyed the parade. The lines were practically non-existant (Dumbo had a 5 min wait!) and all the little kids were so cute in costume! Not to mention this one guy who looked EXACTLY like Jack Sparrow and I really wanted to follow him around...but that's a different topic! Anyway, we had a great time and would definitely go again.

The Big Kids - DH and I (no 2 legged kids yet) - are going to the one next Thurs 3/6. I just finished our costumes last night. I have a few details to complete but I can't wait.

Not everyone dresses up. I have been to MNSSHP and only dressed up once - on the honeymoon. This was during the second leg of the trip and sis and hubby met us. We went as TInkerbelle, Wendy, John and Michael. I was TINK!

The shorter lines and the chance to meet Captain Jack were musts for me. "Why is the rum always gone? Oh, that's why!"

Highly recommended, Like everyone said you cant beat the lines and the treasure the kids love! Also got a great shot with Jack Sparrow! Fireworks were the best I have seen! Loved the show and the parade was just as good! Worth every penny!

Go...go...go...

The fireworks alone were worth it to me... well, and maybe meeting Captain Jack too! Our girls had a really fun time and I would definitely go again.

We went to the March 1st party. My kids are 12,10,9,7. Here are my thoughts....

It is too much commotion, noise, stimulation, etc so late at night. I would not do it again.

Pros:
They definitely have the park set up for P&P Party, it is cool going in while everyone else is being escorted out. Rides are walk on. Parade and fireworks can't be beat, they are fabulous.

Cons:
You and your four year old will be exhausted. Even though you can do a ton of rides over and over you will be too tired to handle it. I am an adult and could not handle that much noise and commotion so late at night (my Dh felt the same way and he has an extremely demanding 16hour day job). Many, many tired, crying young children.

Some Tips:
1. ADR's we made and ADR for 6:40 at Tony's and were so pumped up about the party we chowed down our supper and hurried up our waitress. Kids were too excited to eat. Either do an earlier ADR or eat CS. Better yet eat before you go and grab a snack later
2. Lots of kids dressed up and lots were not. We opted for no costumes and sweatshirts.
3. GET A NAP the day of the party.

Literally, I went to bed almost crying and my mind was spinning from the overstimulation. I felt guilty for having submitted my kids to so much so late at night.

I loved the P&P Party, it was just way too late for all the little kids. I know it is not feasible but I wish Disney could do it earlier.

Just my opinion, hope this helps.

what rides are actually open during P&PP? I couldn't find it online?

We went Jan 25th, and are going again on May 2nd, and I cannot wait!
Like others have said, wait times were minimal or non-existant, great fireworks, parade, games, dance party.

If, however, the kids insist on character greetings, you are out of luck, unless you like to wait in hour-long queues for them. Those were the only real lines I saw.

We did it twice in August 07 when we were there we enjoyed it so much. We have already booked it for our stay in April. We could go on all the rides with no waits and they have many other special things going on. You can see the parade and the fireworks with out having to fight huge crowds. For us it is well worth the money...

We took my 4 year old nephew last year. He's a night owl so he was fine. Once he realized the whole park was the party he was fine. He was trying to get me to "go" to the party. I had to explain that it was everywhere. I think he was expecting something like a birthday party.
He danced, he played the games, he rode the rides, he got the pirate treasure. He just kept going and going and going. Once he found out the party was ending he crashed on the way down Main St. But he stayed awake until the very end.
And it was a lot of fun for this adult too.
