We have these two booked for our upcoming trip at the end of May, which will be during my son's third birthday. They're new to us and we're looking for any input. Will do lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe and dinner at Garden Grill on my son's birthday as he loves Chip and Dale.

Thanks!:mickey:

Your son will love Whispering Canyon Cafe! Don't forget to ask for ketchup, even if it is for your fruit cup!

We have never eaten at the Garden Grill, but it looks like a lot of fun, too.

Enjoy!

We had a blast when we went to the Whispering Canyon Cafe. We are going back again in October.

None of us got the skillet, we all ordered off the menu and it was some of the best food we had on Disney property.

garden grill is a great place to eat! great character interaction here, and very good food. it's a busy area there now that soarin is nearby, so it's nice to see the hustle and bustle going on nearby but not be right in the middle of it. fun place!!!

Whispering Canyon is GREAT! :number1:We have made it a custom to eat there every trip. The food is good, but it is the atmosphere that makes the visit worthwhile. Each time we go it is a new experience. The CMs are good at having fun with the kids and the parents. It is probably more fun for families than it is for just couples. I could go on and on about with the different things that we have done there from riding horses, singing, to getting a two foot long straw inside of a quart glass:funny: just because I asked for a drink refill. You will have lots of fun. Make sure you ask for the ketchup! :D:mickey:

If your son loves Chip :chip:and Dale:dale: he will go crazy at the Garden Grill. They will pester him something fierce if they know he likes them.
And we really loved the food there ! I think it is one of the best places to eat at while at Epcot ! Enjoy ! :D

Loved them both! WC is so much fun. My kids really enjoyed it! Ask for straws, lots of refills, and ketchup!

GG is also really nice! My kids are huge Chip and Dale fans. The food is really good too and I love the revolving restaurant!

Couldn't agree more! WCC has become a tradition and is one of our favorites. To me, it's just so "Disney"....and without a doubt one of the funnest places to eat. (And the food is WONDERFUL too....I LOVE the skillet meal.)

KETCHUP SPOILER ALERT!! (If you don't want to know what happens, stop reading now.)...........

KETCHUP....If you ask for ketchup (or any condiment, even Splenda), the waiter/waitress will yell at the top of their lungs, "Hey, we need ketchup over here! Everyone bring your ketchup!!". Then, everyone in the restaurant that has ketchup on their table, gets up and takes it to the table that asked for ketchup. You'll end up with 20-30 bottles on your table...until the next poor soul asks for it.

WCC is great - they kind of skimped me on the coffee though. I asked for a refill, they brought me the pot, but the straw just wouldn't work. I had to keep pouring it into the mug, and that was just really time-consuming.

BTW - those big coffee pots don't hold as much coffee as you might think. :secret:

I have eaten at both. For WCC we had the breakfast skillet which was good but too much food. I can do with out all the yelling that early in the morning. GG has great character interaction but the food seemed like it had been on the plate awhile before it was brought to the table. Neither restaurant was a culinary destination for us but more for the "show" for our daughter. I would choose other restaurants over these two food wise.

We have eaten at both. We LOVED Garden Grill!!!:number1::number1: The food is so good and the service was great, plus the characters were wonderful. I can't say enough great things about Garden Grill. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

WCC was not one of our favorites. That is not to say that it was bad, just not what we excepted. I thought the food was OK but I'm not a big bar-b-que fan either but DH is and he really liked the food. The service wasn't that great and there was not horseplay at our table but we had a very late ADR (9:30) so maybe that is why. Also our table was off to the side and hidden so we could really see the horseplay going on around us at other tables.

We have eaten at WCC three different times and the food was OK, not great but the service was horrible all three times. Two of the times we had the same waitress and I think it was the worst service I have ever had in my life.....slow....slow.....slow....

Garden Grill is a MUST do for us on every trip. You will love it.

We have eaten at the Garden Grill and absolutely loved it...great character interaction as well as great food! I was a bit nervous about the revolving restaurant...thought it might make me a bit ill....but on the contrary...I didn't even notice that it was moving. Every so often I would look out and realize it had moved....it just does it so slowly you aren't aware.

WC is ok, it's very interactive, only if you make sure your waiter is in the mood to play. If you want a lot of interaction make sure you ask prior to being seated. Someone above said they didn't care for the skillet, neither did we!!!! It's an ok place to have some fun, but for us it's a "done it & most likely won't do it again" place....

WC for me was nerve racking...Just waiting to be "noticed" drove me crazy...I did not want to have to get up and do anything in there...When my husband and brother had to get up and do the buttercup dance, I got up afterwards and went to the bathroom until everyone was done... I was so afraid that it would then be the womens turn...As for my kids, they loved it...My oldest asked for ketchup and when everyone brought him their bottles he couldnt stop laughing...For kids its great...For parents that dont want to be the dinner show, skip it.:D

These are two of our "must do's" each and every trip.

The personalized character attention at Garden Grill cannot be beat - and the "Make Your Own Cupcake" for DS is sure to be a winner! We've been visiting this eatery for many years, and each time is not only full of good food and fun, but also wonderful service.

Whispering Canyon Cafe for kids simply cannot be beat. Between Candy Cane, Gino Casino and a host of other wonderful servers, this is one of DS's favorite places for the entertainment - and DH's and mine for the food.

For parents that dont want to be the dinner show, skip it. Several years ago, I was concerned about the same thing because DH can't stand attention. Well, imagine my concern when he was chosen to hand out the prizes for the pony races. We still laugh about the event to this day - turns out, DH had a great time, and insists we do at least one ADR here each vacation!

Good Choices! :thumbsup::mickey:

I cannot comment on the WCC we would like to try it next trip but we loved the Garden Grill. The food was very good and the character interaction is the best just like Chef Mickeys! It is family style and we did not realize that meant everything served on one dish. If you have anyone pickey and don't like flavors or foods touching be aware. We did not request the catfish but I imagine they would place that right on top of everything. Next time we go we will be requesting some things on different dishes and just tip really big, lol! But I think you will absolutely enjoy the slow rotation of the restaurant and the kids will love the make your own sundae.

If your son can stay up later (until 9), then maybe you can have dinner at WCC and then take the boat from WL to FW to do the Chip 'N Dale Campfire Sing Along at the Meadow Trading Post, which starts at 8pm and lasts about 1/2 hour.

One you get to FW, you just have to take the internal FW bus to the Meadow Trading Post. The campfire is then followed by a movie (but might be too late for your son to watch it). You can then take the internal bus back to the boat dock, take the boat to MK (which will be running past 10pm every night in late May) and then a bus back to OKW.

The funnything about WC is they have this chef fat dude statue, and someone sitting at a table is not paying attention, a waiter will place it right next to you without you realizing it, you turn around and it startles you!!! Is is sooo funny to see people like ahhh!!! It scares ya!!

well, last year when we ate there, we had spent that morning at typhoon lagoon and I was hot, tired and VERY thirsty.

When I quickly finished my iced tea, the waiter brought out a HUGE cup.

I think a little to his surprise, I finished it all before the meal arrived (think i was pretty dehydrated from playing in the sun).

He brought me another one without asking and promptly informed me where the "little boys" room was. :D
