Ok, we had the thread asking what sort of car you drive NOW. I thought it might be interesting to know what cars you have driven. I got my first car, a 73 Maverick when I was in high school. Bought it from my brother, it looked good, and it was fast. After that, things went down hill for a while. Anyway, here's the line up.

73 Ford Maverick, 2dr, bucket seats, 302 with dual exhaust, Dark Blue metallic. First 100 mph car

Me also - 1977 Kawasaki KZ 1000
----------------- single/married line ---------------
77 Granada, 2dr, 6 cyl, floor shift
Me - 76 Granada (4dr rust bucket)
Wife - 74 Mustang II, V-6, 4 on floor.
Me - 76 Olds Cutlass (2dr, rust bucket)
Wife - 1984 Ford Tempo - 2dr (new)
Me - 74 Ford Pinto (oh, my)
Me - 76 LTD II (extreme rust bucket)
Wife - 1987 Ford Tempo - 2dr (new)
Me - 84 Ford EXP ( sporty)
Me - 1990 Ford Probe (V-6, easy 100+ mph)
Wife - 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse
Me - 1996 Mustang (my baby, easy 130+mph)
Wife - 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse (new)
Me - 2008 Ford Escape (the first new vehicle I get to drive)

If you notice, after I crossed the single/married line, I drove a series of, well, we'll call them cars with a lot of character. And I still have the KZ1000

First: 1990 Dodge Colt... um, no one told me ANYTHING about car maintainence and while I am a pretty smart kid, I did not put oil in it and I threw a rod. I have learned much since then... about 24 MPG

next: 1979 Ford Fairmont... ugh... no paint. just kinda matte gray. no air, no radio--had AM when I first got it, but then the speakers went bye-bye, did have power windows and cruise control, both of which worked. it was the most random thing in the world...lol 14 MPG

now: 2006 Hyundai Accent. My first brand new car. And I am paying for that aspect...lol but I love it and it has 4 doors!!! And I get 33+ MPG!!!

These are the cars I drove or owned over the years. I tend to keep cars a while, so my list is not so long.

61 Ford Falcon (Used?) Not sure if my dad bought this new or not .. he may have. Everyone in the family drove this car. Grandma used to take us to jr. high school in it. I had it in high school, my sister before that, my brother after me.

78 Toyota Corolla (Used) - My dad's old car
84 Ford Fairmont (Used) - My dad's old car
87 Ford Taurus (New) - My first new car
94 Ford Thunderbird (New)
97 Ford Explorer (New) - My current car

Planning to replace the Explorer this year ... Possible choices:

Toyota Highlander (Hybrid)
Nissan Pathfinder

Ford is my car of choice - until I moved to Japan. Now I drive a Toyota. Imagine that? ;)

My list:

Ford Escort - throughout high school and college. Boy, was I sad to tell that car goodbye. My brother actually took it from me when I got a new car, worked on it and drove it for many years after that.

Ford Contour - I leased one for two years, and then bought another one after that lease was up.

Ford Windstar - with the event of more than one baby came the need for a bigger vehicle. I was sad to sell it when we moved to Japan. It was a good vehicle.

I now drive a Toyota Surf, which is the equivalent in the States of a 4-Runner. Looking forward to getting back to the Ford Escape we have in storage. It will be mine and my hubby will get the new car (which will likely be a Ford :D ).

Let's see...I've been very blessed. When my Dad bought a new car for himself, he would give me his old car to have. Both times, the car was totally paid off. I've only had to pay for gas, maintenance, and insurance. And, the 2nd car I was able to sell before I moved to NYC, and I was able to live off of that money for a few months after college and before my job started!

1st car: 1990 Ford Tempo (mediocre car)
2nd car: 1997 Toyota Camry (great car!)

That's it!

merlinmagic4
02-18-2008, 07:32 AM
My list is so short compared to most of these! It's so funny that I remember my payment amount, too!

1987 Ford Escort - bought it brand new at 18 before I even had my license. Paid 154.72/month. Drove for 3 years.

1990 Nissan Sentra - bought new 222.37/mo. Drove for 9 years.

1995 (?) Mercury Wagon - bought in 1999 from a friend 185.00/mo. Drove for 3 years.

1999 Dodge Caravan - bought used in 2002 and still driving it (6 years)! Paid with an equity line.

I'm not much of a car person as you can see! As long as it gets me where I need to go I love it!!

I had to laugh. My mother had a 72 Maverick that she had for 15 years. That thing finally got the boot when my father had replaced its 12th muffler. It was teal green and a real doozy of a car!
Now my cars are thus:

1984 Mercury Topaz. Sun roof, power windows, 2 blown head gaskets. Drove this hooptie for a year.

1989 Chrysler Lebaron. Awesome car. Sleek. Had it 10 months then hit a patch of New England Ice and hit a tree.

1988 Dodge Daytona. Nice. Bad in snow.

1993 Jeep Wrangler. MY FAVORITE car!!! This was everything all in one: convertible, 4 wheel drive, everything! I miss it so much!

2002 Chevrolet Silverado. Never has given me an ounce of trouble. Its paid for and reliable. I will have it for at least another 5 years.

As you can see, I have driven all American cars.

Well, I'm not sure whether cars had been invented yet when I was a youngster... :old:

Let's see how good my memory is:

1957 Plymouth Savoy (bought from my mom)
1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible (LOVED that car - wish I still had it!)
1965 Buick station wagon
1972 Toyota Corolla (mistake!)
1973 Mazda wagon w/rotary engine
1976 Chevy Malibu wagon (great car - got 20 good years out of it)
1965 Dodge (bought from FIL for 2nd car)
1981 Chevy Monte Carlo
1984 Dodge 2500 conversion van
1992 Dodge 2500 conversion van
1998 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel pickup
1998 Hyundai Tiburon
2003 Chrysler T&C minivan
2006 Dodge Ram 2500 MegaCab diesel pickup

Still have the last two, but we're shopping now for a replacement for the minivan - strongly considering a Chrysler convertible. :car:

I honestly don't know if I can name all the cars I've owned ... I'll give it a shot, though.

I do remember my first car ... it was a 1979 Datsun 310GX. My parents gave it to me when I turned 16.

After that I had:

1986 Honda CRX
1989 Pontiac Firebird
1988 Ford Mustang GT
1985 Volkswagon GTI
1994 Ford Escort GT
1995 Jeep Wrangler
1997 Jeep Wrangler
1999 Jeep Cherokee
2001 Jeep Wrangler
2003 BMW 325xi
2006 Saab 9-3
2008 Chevy TahoeI think that's a pretty complete list ... there may have been one or two intermediate beaters that I didn't list (I think I had like a 1978 Audi at one point ... lasted like a month maybe ... ), but that's most of them.

And DW has had:

1990 Hyundai Excel
1995 Saturn SC1
2000 Ford Explorer Sport
2002 Chevy Trailblazer
2005 Chevy Trailblazer
2008 Acura TL

IloveDisney71

First Car: Toyota Corolla
- Hyndai Excel
-Ford Contour (LEMON)
-Ford Taurus
-Ford Taurus
-Dodge Durango
-Dodge Durango (My favorite car - wreck caused by an uninsured motorist!!!)
-Chevy Trailblazer (Had problems)
-Hyundai Sonata - Love it so far!
That's a lot of cars in the 20 years I've been driving, but 3 were totaled (only one was my fault - I hydro-planed(sp?) and lost control).

Too funny, but my first car was also a 79 Ford Fairmont (1984).

Next was a yellow Plymouth Horizon (Miser), this was my college car at USF and I drove it a ton over the Howard Frankland bridge from St. Pete to Tampa (of course being a college student, I kept forgetting to change the oil on this car:blush:)

Next was a Honda Accord (my first out of college car and the Horizon died)

Next was a Saturn Sedan (loved that car). I also had a company car in Florida, so the Saturn was my fun car.

Now I have my Toyota Sienna, and I posted in the dream car I'd love one of those little red Toyota Solara convertibles!!

I got my first car 2 years ago for my 16th birthday. It is a 1969 Camaro Z28 Clone. It's PPG Teal Blue Pearl with white stripes and it is my dream car. I <3 it.You better take care of that thing! What kinda motor/carb/tranny ya got in it?

Let's see...most of my cars were hand-me-downs/used, except for the 2000 Neon I owned for about two months...

1981 Toyota Corolla hatchback
1979 Lincoln Town Car..."the limo"...LOL...
1975 Chevy El Camino
1974 Pontiac LeMans 4-door ex-cop car...this thing was F-A-S-T....
1984 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon with a wussy 4-banger...
1988 Toyota truck 4X4 that I owned for maybe two weeks...LOL
1988 Dodge Shadow with a five-speed...quick lil' ride
2000 Dodge Neon...wrecked it...:(
1995 Chevy Blazer...just got rid of it last week...
1990 Ford Tempo...kinda like a scaled-down Taurus

My girlfriend has a 1984 Camaro, and we just bought a used 1996 Ford Explorer. She also had a 1970 Pontiac GTO, along with several other awesome muscle cars from the late '60s and early '70s. Too many to list right now :)

1. 1990 Geo Prizm-My mom gave me this car when I turned 16. I loved this car. I didn't have door handles inside the car so my grandfather tied string to the locks so all I had to do was pull the string to unlock the doors. Super ghetto but truly functional. I was one of the lucky ones that had a car in high school so nobody made fun of me.

2. 1996 Geo Prizm (Purple)-My favorite car of all times. Total lost it when a drunk driver slammed into the back of me and took off. :( Lucky for me somebody chased him down and justice was served.

3. 1999 Ford Escort-Still have this car parked in the yard but don't drive it. DH and I were just talking about putting it back on the road to help with gas costs.

4. 2001 Toyota Camry-Still have this one but DH uses it. It is our travel car.

5. 2000 Nissan Maxima-This is my car. It's Ok but I am stuck with it for now.

You guys have really good memories! I'm struggling to remember the exact years of my cars.....

My first car I got on the advice of my boyfriend at the time. I didn't get my license until I was 18 and he convinced me I needed a new car. So, prior to passing my road test, I had a 1988 Dodge Daytona (CS...? I think...? I know it had a turbo engine) waiting for me to pick it up at the dealership!! It had a sunroof that popped up - and to open it fully, you had to take it off and store it in the trunk! :D But, it was the ultimate in cool at the time! That car was totaled on 2/4/94 when some guy ran a light, hit me and pushed my car into a building. :(

After that, I had a 1989 Toyota Camry - loved that car!

In 1998, Mike's Blazer was stolen so we leased a 98 (or 99...?) Chevy Malibu. Mike actually took over the Camry and I drove the Malibu.

When the lease was up, we leased a 2001 Chevy Malibu, as we had loved that car.

This is where my memory gets even more confused - it was around this time that the Camry was totalled, so Mike ended up buying another Malibu (yep, we really loved the Malibu) so I'm assuming it was another 2001, possibly a 2002. It's funny because 2 of our neighbors bought Malibu's after that because they knew how much we liked them.

In 2004, Mike was really missing having a truck, so when my lease was up, we leased a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. I loved having an SUV, but this was a very bare bones model and I never really loved it. We had gotten a great deal on a leftover with only 1500 miles on it, but that meant we had no choice as to color, etc. and I will never have a white truck again! :(

In 2005, Mike's lease was up and he decided to buy a Chevy Impala, which is what he drives now.

Last year, I still had 6 months left on my lease of the Trailblazer, but we decided to start looking at Honda's. Just looking turned into Honda buying me out of my lease and us driving away with my 2007 Honda Pilot EX - I love, love, love this SUV. As of now, we have every intention of buying this lease out and keeping this one for the long haul.

I'll have to ask Mike if I'm right on the dates and for his list of cars - I know he had many. When I met him he was driving a huge full sized pick up, then he got the Blazer.

As far as my own personal car goes, I've had 3:

1) a 1985 Chrysler New Yorker (we called it the Knight Rider car since it would talk - "please fasten your seatbelt", "your door is ajar", "don't forget your keys" - that sort of thing)

2) 1992 Nissan Quest Minivan in Seafoam Green (the best car EVER - especially if you're the DD all the time in college! I still miss this car - I drove it until it completely died in 2004)

3) 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe in Maroon. Also an awesome car!

#3 is the first new car I've ever gotten - the rest were just my family's cast offs. But I've only been driving since I was 17 in 1999, so this list of cars isn't too shabby huh?

I only have 2!
My first car was when I was 20-a 1988 Delta 88. I know you are all jealous. It got me through college and then a move from Iowa to California.
I got my 2nd car new- a 2005 PT Cruiser. I was doing outside sales for a minute and it has a LOT of room for hauling stuff around. I like it. My next car I want an Audi. We'll see what happens.

Cool topic. Brings back some good memories:thumbsup:

1st car- 1966 Silver Frost Ford Mustang. Bought it used with my dad in 1984 for high school. It was beauitful, and I think dad drove it more than I did. It stayed in the family until just a couple of years ago, when dad sold it to a guy in his car club.

2cd car- 1983 White Ford Mustang GT. Bought it used in 1986 for college. Good car, very fast. Traded it in for car #3.

3rd car- 1990 Black Ford Mustang LX Converitable with the 5.0. See a trend here?? Bought this car brand spanking new the day I graduated college. Great car in the summer on the beach, but I froze my tail off when I was sent to Lowery AFB in Denver for my tech school. Sold it to my dad for my younger brother to have for college.

4th car- 1994 Green Jeep Cherokee. Bought it brand new. When I first got into teaching and coaching, I needed something bigger to haul stuff in. I really did not like this car as much as I thought I would, and traded it in on car #5.

5th car- 1998 Green Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer. Bought it brand new. Loved this truck, but it died a horrible death when I was rear ended by a dump truck on the way to work in 2004. Insurance money from this went to my present truck.

Present car- 2004 Green Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer. I plan on keeping this one a while, though the new Expeditions look pretty cool...

I STILL miss my first car.
1972 Pontiac Lemans
leather bucket seats
automatic on the floor
landau roof
silver with black roof
air
am/fm radio
power windows
8 cylinder
455
That car could SCREAM!!!!
GOD I miss CLYDE!! ( Yep, that was my car's name)
After Clyde I owned a series of $200.00 cars that I bought off my motorhead male friends,
I owned a 1967 mustang
That's how I taught myself to drive a standard
an AMC Rambler with push button transmission
I can't even remember the others

I also had a
1981 Olds 98 Regency Braughm, ( it was my boyfriend/Husbands but I took it over.

We had a Jeep CJ5 (taught myself how to go 4wheelin')
Later in life I bought a 1996 Dodge Caravan
Now
a 2006 Dodge Caravan.
I would love to find another 1972 Pontiac Lemans!

Oh my gosh! I hated most of them at the time I was driving them. Lets see...

1972 Volkswagon Beetle, bright yellow, 4sp. w/ black vinyl seats, and heat controls in the floor. That thing was built like a tank. It never got stuck, even in the mud or snow, except for 1 time when it snowed and the drifts were so deep at the opening of the garage I couldn't get over the hump. It didn't stop me from trying though. And for about 19 months if not longer, I never put a drop of oil in the thing. $8 bucks to fill it up at the time, too and I could drive what seemed like forever on that.

1982 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham 2dr. Yuck, yuck, but it ran...

1991 Mustang GT 5sp. This was my DH's car until we got married, then I got started driving it. Love it...But it's hard to get a car seat in the back so DH got it back and I got the new one.

1996 Chev. Blazer 4dr. This was good too, but still smaller than I liked.

1999 Toyota Camry - great car, but after the boys got hurt, it was too hard to get them in the car and make sure they had enough leg room. We couldn't get 1 much less 2 wheelchairs in it either.

So we finally got the 2002 Chev. Tahoe. I love my truck. It has tons of space, I can see where I'm going, and I don't have to borrow a truck from anyone when I need one.

DH has a 2001 Chev Silverado. It's, well, a truck.....He can pull his boat with it...

End of the year, I finally get the new one...2008 Chev. Suburban. I can't wait...Love my trucks...

Cool list of cars so far folks:

My list:
1st car - a 1969 Doge Dart that I bought in 1978. I then drove it for 10 years. When I got rid of it the interior, exterior, brakes were a mess but the "slant 6" engine was still running great.

1988 Grand Am
1992 Chevy Truck (red)
1995 Chevy Truck (red)
1997 Chevy Truck Z71 (red)
1999 Chevy Truck (Black) Z71 stepside, regular cab
2003 Chevy Truck (Black) Z71 stepside, regular cab. This truck gave it's life for me when hit head on by a drunk last January. Alas, they no longer make shortbox/regular cab trucks!:(
2007 Chevy Trailblazer (black)

Wife has had:
1978 Chevette
1983 Chevette
1990 Grand Prix
1992 Grand Prix
1994 Chevy Mini Van (the dust buster one) blue
1996 Chevy Mini Van green
1998 Chevy Mini Van Blue
2001 Buick Rendezvous

I still drive my first car- 2000 Ford Escort ZX2. My parents bought it for me when I started driving in 2000 (I was 17) and then when i graduated college in 2005, my dad signed it over to me. I'm ready for a more "grown up" car but this one is completely paid for so it'll be at least another year or 2 before I get a new one.

1993 Saturn Coupe - drove but the interior fell apart

1996 Nissan 240SX - loved this car! Broke down on 3 seperate occassion and towed to Action Nissan. They claimed if was fixed. I drove it a mile....called them and they said they couldn't do anything. Had it towed and now if just collects dusts. Very sad!

First car was a '52 Fordamatic, only two years younger than me, that I got in '67 for $85. It was one of the first years Fords came with automatic transmissions. My next was a corvair that my brother had flipped but didn't damage that much. He sold it to me for $25.

More lately I've settle into Dodge products. I've had a couple of Ram Quad Cabs, a Durango, and now I drive an '07 Caliber that I really like.

I don't know if anybody has ever heard of Avanti, but that's my wish car.

I have had 7 cars - 6 of which have been Honda - so I guess you can say I am partial.

'74 Honda Civic - bought used when I was in college. Kinda like a tin can on 4 wheels - but for a college kid it was perfect.

'85 Honda Accord - my first new car.

'88 Honda Prelude - LOVED this car - until it got stolen....

'91 Honda Prelude - just not the same as the 88 Prelude... Had to get rid of this when the first kid started sprouting legs!

'94 Jeep Cherokee - My first American car. I really liked this car - but you had to have deep pockets to keep it running...

'01 Honda Odyssey - Well - even for a Honda fan, this was not my favorite. Suited our family well, but I determined that I was not the mini van type.

'05 Honda Pilot - I LOVE this car!! When its time to replace it, I will likely get another!

My first car I can't recall a year on but it was a really really old chevette (hand me down from Dad)

2nd car was a 1988 Mustang black 2.3L version..sigh my Dad got custody of that in the divorce though.

3rd car was a 1986 Suzuki Samuri (a jeep made from pop cans) silver with a black roof that came off. I loved that silly thing and drove it to death and beyond. The trannie was in a bucket on the front seat when I traded it in.

4th was a chevy "sprint" 1991 (I think) smartie blue and the size of pea..dh and I ended up sharing this until it died.

5th 2000 pontiac sunfire bought new and still own with DH driving it now.

6th 2007 Ford Escape in blue love this one as well.

Next was a yellow Plymouth Horizon (Miser), this was my college car at USF and I drove it a ton over the Howard Frankland bridge from St. Pete to Tampa (of course being a college student, I kept forgetting to change the oil on this car:blush:)

You were taking your life in your own hands driving over the Howard Frakenstein everyday!!! I try to avoid that bridge if I can!

Let's see....

I got my first car right before high school graduation in 1998, it was a 1996 Dodge Neon. It was strawberry red (everybody said it was pink, it wasn’t pink it was strawberry red!) that I called Floyd.

Floyd blew a gasket so I traded it in for my dream car: a (new) 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. :cloud9: It was silver with black cloth interior and I honestly didn’t use the convertible as much as I should have. If I could do it again I would have Shelby have a sunroof instead of a convertible top.

In 2002 I went back to school and I couldn’t afford the payments on Shelby as a full time college student so I traded Shelby in for a (new) 2002 VW Jetta that I called George. George was electric blue and loved to zip around town!

In 2004 I traded George in for a black 2002 Mercury Cougar Si. I liked the Cougar until about 2 weeks after I bought it. I blew a tire on I74 outside of Cincinnati and the car never drove the same. I don’t even think I named the Cougar.

Last July I got rid of the Cougar for a black 2007 Mazda 3. I love my Mazda that I named Vivian! I have a feeling I will keep my Mazda for awhile, I love it!

My first car was a 1993 Ford Probe GT in a purpley-blue that my friends called "Midnight Oil."

Then I had a 1996 Honda Prelude Si in silver that I called "So This is Love."

But when we had DS, my grandpa had given up driving, so I sold my Prelude and he gave me his gold 1997 Toyota Avalon. I called this one "Pete" (my grandpa's name).

Then when we moved, I needed 4WD so I bought a 1997 Chevy Blazer which I called a "Plazer" because all my cars had started with P. (Well except the Avalon, but then I called it Pete, so that counted)

Finally, I gave my hubby the Plazer and got a 2005 Pacifica with AWD. This one is called the Black Pearl.

I don't know if anybody has ever heard of Avanti, but that's my wish car.

Yes, I have and it's a very nice choice. It's the kind of car that you see and go, "Ooh, what's that?"

Here are my cars:
First - 1972 Oldsmobile Omega POS - literally - it was brown - I bought it in 1986 for $150. I probably put 10X that into in for repairs over the next 2-3 years.
Then:
1984 Plymouth Turismo (used in 1989 or 1990) - burgundy
1988 Volvo 740 GLE (used in 1993) - navy
1996 Chrysler Cirrus (first new car) - burgundy
1985 Mercedes 190E (used sometime around 1999-2000) - red
1994 Mazda Navajo - black - (hubby gave to me when he bought his Explorer in 2002)
2005 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI - red - (my second new car) - I love this car - it averages 42 mpg and I drove it from NJ to WDW twice in the past 2 1/2 years. It's everything that I loved in my Volvo and my Mercedes, all rolled into an inexpensive diesel-sipper. The only problem is that my husband can't fit into it with my DS's convertible car seat in the rear-facing position - and that's when it's in the middle of the back seat. I may have to get a different car if and when baby #2 comes along.:(

My first cars were both Ford Escorts...both died in accidents. Then I got a used VW Fox. I loved that car, my first sunroof! That one had the hood fly off the hinges while I was driving on the highway into Chicago, not a fun time...and another time, the transmission got stuck in 3rd (manual) when I was approaching a toll booth. Retired that with a Saturn SC2 that subsequently had the taillights melted when a hearse caught on fire in the parking lot where we were parked. Ah such memories!

Me
96 Chevy Cavalier -- 1st car, drove it off the showroom! My mom paid cash for it! Got it for my 16th bday, although it was bought before it. It was customized, slammed to the ground. Blacked out windows... Perfect 1st car! I ended up trading it in in early 98 for a
97 Isuzu Rodeo -- when DH got orders to Alaska. Yes, I was 17 and married! But I didn't live with him till I was 18 or really even see him.....
98 VW Beetle -- got when we got to AK and found out no one in AK will work on Isuzu! My favorite car EVER!!!
98 Chevy Blazer (from DH) -- Beetle got totalled within 2 months, rear-ended by a 16 year old, uninsured drunk driver! DH got the Frontier, so I got his Blazer!
01 Volvo S40 -- Lease was up on the Blazer
04 Ford Explorer -- Lease was up on the Volvo

We bought the Explorer instead of leasing and it will be paid off in a few months. I am still trying to decided what I want to get. A Nissan Armada, Nissan Quest or a Chrysler Town and Country.

DH
93 Nissan Sentra -- traded for
94 Chevy S10 -- totalled
92 Dodge Charger (I think) it was ugly as sin! -- again, totalled!
93 Dodge Charger (again, I think that what they were!) -- blew the engine
95 Chevy S10 -- sold and used the cash for down payment on the
99 Nissan Frontier -- Lease Expired, he didn't want anything new because he had to have a
?? Ford Bronco -- THE BEAST! -- After a while, he realized the Beast wasn't a wise choice due to gas prices and got a
03 Hyandi Elentra -- The Bubble! He loves that car and says he will drive it till the wheels fall off....
He also has a 06 Ford F250 for his work truck, supplied by his job!
Somewhere in between all that, before he got his promotion which supplied him a truck, he had a old Nissan Hardbody and a Dodge Stratus. Both were his work cars.

I have to correct this. It looks like I wouldn't be happy with baby #2. Here is a corrected statement. Hopefully it looks better:

I may have to get a different car :( when baby #2 comes along:).

Wow, I loved my first car a 77 Monte Carlo. It was called the Mad Monte. My bf at the time talked me into making it into the mean car it was. Tinted windows, screaming sound system, tinted headlights, and if I remember correctly the undercarriage used to light up also. She was fast. Took her to race in Brooklyn on Fountain Avenue. My dad used to race and customize cars before I was born and he taught me to drive when I was young. We had a 55 Chevy with hand controls because he was in an extremely bad car accident, so I learned to drive without having to reach the pedals.

How could I have forgotten... between #2 on my list (73 Volvo :)) and #3 (78 Delta 88 :cloud9:) was a car I bought for $75 from a co-worker, for the time between my private sale of the Volvo and the arrival of my custom ordered Olds... a barely running 62? Dodge Dart. There wasn't anything on that car that was in good working order, it just sort of wheezed down the road. :ack: After 1 or 2 "drives" I decided to beg rides from coworkers and fellow church members- maybe I took it to the grocery store once when I was absolutely desperate. I probably saved about $1000 with the private sale, and maybe another $500 by ordering my new car, maybe it was worth it?

1997 Toyota Corolla

Bought my first car at 19

1979 Ford Fairmont, I felt like a granny, but it was safe.....yeah, maybe, but sooooo uncool.

1979 Chevy Truck (Cheyenne) 1/2 ton
1988 Chevy Truck (Cheyenne) 3/4 ton
1987 GMC dual wheel ton truck - do you see the pattern? I had show cattle, so we needed a truck to haul them around.
1986 Chevy Celebrity
1986 Dodge station wagon - ugh, felt old again
Still had my 88 truck, but when I divorced the husband, I gave up the truck too :(. Boy I miss that truck.
1993 Dodge Caravan - I think or maybe it was a Chrysler - I can't remember - I had two of them, both white.
2004 Dodge Neon - totaled it before I put 5,000 miles on it. This was my first brand new car. This was an omen to me, don't go new again.
2003 Saturn SLE
2003 Chevy Malibu
2003 Ford Windstar

1st car I bought was a '69 cutlass (1977) I was 18. It was a nice car, got us to Fla. and back.
2nd was a 1975 Monte Carlo (1980) This was my favorite car. It was white with a burgundy roof. I had it until 1995 when we traded it in for a 1995 Cavalier. The Cavalier was in a accident last fall. No more, it was a good little car. Husband bought his mothers car '96 Acclaim. He had a El Camino and a Chevette. I don't remember the years.

First car - 1979 Chevrolet Chevette. I called it my "Vette" as a joke because it was so NOT. It would whine it's way up steep hills and could barely handle 60 on the highway without shuddering. But it was a solid little car that lasted me 4 more years (through New England winters and many trips to college) until the starter and alternator went.

Next, bought my parents 1987 Chevy van during college from them for pennies because they wanted to upgrade and they knew I could use it for a trade-in once I had a job post-college.

After that, a 2000 Saturn SL2. Cursed car - it had so many things go wrong it wasn't funny.
Now I'm driving a 2003 Saturn Ion. Love it. :)

I haven't had that many cars. My very first one was a 1987 Acura Integra that I bought used in college. My second I bought brand new--a 1997 Chevy Cavalier Z24 that I actually just got rid of last year because I had DS#2 and needed more room, but I loved it. Now I drive a 2007 Mazda 6 and DH's 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Ok, mind you, I'm 24...

In 2000, I drive a 1991 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight. It was a true LAND YACHT! It was my grandmother's and it was passed around to people who were in between cars. I was the lucky girl who got it as their first car!

In 2001, my parents bought me a 2001 Ford Ranger! It was a surprise gift after a mission trip to Mexico.

In the summer of 2005, my dad switched cars with me, since I was driving to Dallas, over 100 mile commute every day for school, and he wanted me to have a better gas mileage car. I drove his 2003 Honda Accord. It was the top of the line, for that time... pretty darn awesome!

In 2006, I bought my first car, except it had my dad's name on it, as I didn't have ANY credit. It was a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon, and the best car known to man!

Well, just this past Feb 9, I got into a wreck and totaled my car. So, Friday night, I bought, with my OWN money and in my OWN name, a 2008 Scion tC.

I am DONE buying cars!
