Feb. 16, 1903 – Ventriloquist Edgar Bergen (famous for his wooden dummy Charlie McCarthy) was born in Chicago, Il. His Disney credits include the TV shows “Disneyland ’59,” and “One Hour in Wonderland.” Bergen also portrayed himself in the 1974 “Fun and Fancy Free.” In 1947 Walt Disney himself was a guest on Bergens popular radio show. (Edgar is the father of actress Candice Bergen.)
Feb. 16, 1904 - Actor James Baskett, Uncle Remus in Disney’s “Song of the South” was born in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Feb. 16, 1920 - Patti Andrews, who lent her singing voice to Disney’s “Make Mine Music”, and “Melody Time” was born in Minneapolis, Mn.
Feb. 16, 1960 - Annette Funicello performed “O Dio Mio” on TV’s American Bandstand.
Feb. 16, 1966 - Disney’s live action film “The Ugly Dachshund”, starring Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette was released.
Feb. 16, 1984 - Disney’s “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” was nominated for an Academy Award.
Feb. 16, 2003 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired “Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man” starring Matthew Broderick (a 3-hour new presentation of the classic musical.)
Feb. 16, 2004 – The Disney Store at Eastland Mall in Evansville, Indiana closed.
Feb. 16, 2007 – The Walt Disney Pictures Presents/Walden Media film “Bridge to Terabithia” wasreleased.
Feb. 16, 2007 - Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media’s live-action feature “Bridge to Terabithia,” based on the Katherine Paterson novel, was released.
