Feb. 15, 1899 - Lillian Marie Bounds, the wife of Walt Disney for 41 years, was born.
Feb. 15, 1907 – Actor Cesar Romero was born in N.Y.C. His Disney credits include the live-action comedies “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes” (1969), “Now You See Him, Now You Don’t” (1972), and “The Strongest Man in the World” (1975), in which he portrays the corrupt but inept villain A.J. Arno. Romero is also Esteban de la Cruz in 4 episodes of Disney’s “Zorro” TV series. (Fans of TV’s Batman will know Romero as the Joker!)
Feb. 15, 1927 – Comedy veteran Harvey Korman was born in Chicago, Il. His Disney credits include an episode of “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” the live-action feature “Herbie Goes Bananas,” the television serial “The Adventures of Gallegher,” and the 2-part “Emil and the Detectives.” (Fans of the Carol Burnett Show would remember Korman as a regular.)
Feb. 15, 1930 - Disney’s Silly Symphony “Autumn” directed by Ub Iwerks was released.
Feb. 15, 1950 - Disney’s 12th animated feature film “Cinderella” was released Ilene Woods was the voice of Cinderella, Eleanor Audley was the voice of Tremaine, and Mike Douglas was the un-credited singing voice of Prince Charming.
Feb. 15, 1956 – The Disneyland TV series aired “Our Unsung Villians,” narrated by Walt Disney.
Feb. 15, 2001 – Someone burning debris without authorization started a fire that raced through tinder-dry swampland in central Florida about 15 miles from WDW. (It would burn over 11,000 acres.)
Feb. 15, 2002 - “Return to Neverland; Disney’s animated Peter Pan sequel was released.
Feb. 15, 2006 – Mount Everest arrived in New York’s Time Square as part of a massive Disney publicity stunt to promote “Expedition Adventure,” a new thrill ride soon to open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at WDW. A pair of giant billboards depict Mount Everest, a runaway train, and the mysterious villain Yeti.
Feb. 15, 2007 – New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi and his wife Heidi, who are on vacation with their family at WDW, took a ride aboard the “Expedition Everest” attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Bruschi, an 11-year NFL veteran, led the Patriots’ defense this past season with 124 tackles.
